They did everything they promised. Chef Rene and especially her staff were phenomenal. Blackberry catering was there for me and my family during a hard time. She catered my mom's repass 7/16/24 they worked with us made everything happen as promised. The food was delicious everyone enjoyed everything. Sometimes all items are not the best on the menu, but I can testify everything's was great. The staff were kind, and genuinely friendly . I want to say again thank you thank you for everything you did. Sincerely Heather

We used Blackberry Soul for a corporate lunch and the customer service was amazing!! Super accommodating to our dietary restrictions (lots of vegan options) and they worked with our budget. They were always available to answer questions. Food was delicious- the fried chicken was unreal! Would absolutely recommend

Blackberry soul was a catering business before opening a cafe a few weeks ago. i like the idea of having a restaurant along 14th ave and the people who run this restaurant are very welcoming and friendly.sampled - oatmeal cookie (lots of oatmeal, taste was like a snickerdoodle, very crumbly)and sweet potato cornbread (she heated it up for me, not sure if that was necessary since i was taking it to go. the cornbread was dry, could be because of the reheating and it i was expecting it to be sweet, which it was not. was a bit disappointing.). would need to come back to sample other items and might boost up rating.

I really try to support local business when I can and this place just caught my attention a few weeks back.I'm so excited to finally try it on my day off of work (I usually get home after they close)I saw their dessert menu here on yelp and thought the prices seemed very reasonable. Oh boy lets do this!I came and found pretty easy parking. This place is just a minute drive from where I live!Coming in close to closing time, I met sweet Renee and she told me the only dessert she had left was the blackberry cobbler and the chocolate cake.I asked if the cake was moist (cuz it looked dry) and she gave me that "are you kidding' me?!" look and told me its moist. Duh. Hahaha. So I bought a slice! Renee told me she was charging me $3 instead of $3.50 because it's the end slice cake (even on the photo menu here it says cake is $3). I had ordered this and the blackberry cobbler ($3) to go. The cobbler was amazing...it had such an atomic smell and it was still warm!As for the cake, it wasn't as moist as I thought :-/ I nuked it for a bit and it tasted a bit better. Perhaps it was a bad idea eating 75% of each dessert cuz my tummy is a bit upset as we speak haha. Renee was such a sweet and friendly person. I'd love to come back for breakfast, or a dinner meal, and try other desserts! :)Local love!

If you can get over the scheduling difficulties that some Yelpers are giving Blackberry Soul 1 star for, then you will love your experience. Bear in mind that Rene's (the owner) intern has left for school so she's left with scheduling over 700 classes, M-F, while running the restaurant on weekends. Email is probably the best form of contact and be flexible. If she says the class starts at 6:30 pm, be open to the possibility of it starting at 7:30pm or even 8pm (8pm is actually what the calendar says too). If the place looks locked when you get there, just wait or send her an email and ask her to call you. When my friend and I went, it was for the savory baking class but it was double booked at the same time with the fried chicken class. We were the only ones signed up for the savory baking so we just joined the fried chicken class and I was actually super excited about this mistake because I LOVE FRIED CHICKEN! Oh man, it was so delicious. You mainly help with prep for the sides and watch Rene do the magic with the chicken. We also had hot water cornbread, mustard greens, red beans, rice, and berry cobbler with ice cream. Then by around 9:30pm, you get to EAT IT ALL. That is the best part and I was stuffed to the brim. My favorite item was the honey water cornbread because I've never had cornbread this way and I will make it this coming Thanksgiving to surprise everyone. It has no eggs or milk but is crispy on the outside and corny on the inside, similar to hush puppies. She also holds a variety of other fun classes like Romance Class for couples (she'll make it super romantic for you and your boo, and make you guys do silly things like show the class how to kiss) or the Men's Cooking Class which shows them how to make manly, hearty foods or the Swap Class where you bring someone you're with and hope to swap him/her for someone better.

Really nice manager. I came in a little before they closed and I was really surprised by how home-y and grandmother-y their kitchen was. It's a very small cafe but the food is pretty damn good. I especially like the bbq chicken wings as well as the cobbler. I've only had the blackberry cobbler but it was delicious. The sweet potato cornbread tastes a little strange and the fries are a little underseasoned and limp. Overall, I feel like I would come here again if they're open.

The class was fun and Rene was great ! But it's more like a demo than an actual cooking class. Rene tried to make it as interactive as possible with the small space we had. Wine while cooking certainly loosened some of us up and we all had an enjoyable time. The food was delicious and easy to make but the low rating comes from the interactions I had with her assistant afterwards. So far, my interactions with Rene's assistant has been terrible. I took the class back in August 2012 and STILL have not received the recipes after emailing Jin 6 times. Someone else just emailed me in regards to which class I made but we will see when I will actually get the recipes. So far, it's been about 2 months since we've taken the class, so we will see when it will be when I actually get the recipes...

BlackBerry Soul catered our corporate lunch for 70+ employees between two office floors in San Francisco today and they provided a 10/10 experience! The food quality was amazing and so was the presentation. Every dish was cleared within the hour. Thank you so much for being so accommodating to all of our needs. We will definitely be placing more orders in the future!
