We had an absolutely wonderful experience at this beautiful Michelin guide recommend restaurant, near lake Merritt.Bardo is truly a hidden gem.Perfectly located at the end of the lakeshore plaza near Noah's Bagels and the beginning of the residential area.Worth a visit!

What a find! Not sure what to expect when we walked in, yet we were all nicely surprised once we got seated. There were cocktails before & afterwards - to which those who had them, loved them. We started with the apple & parsnips soup - wowza, 2 bowls for 4 of us, next time I'm getting my own. Just spectacular from the flavor, presentation, texture & taste. The Cesar salad flopped in comparison, it was good, it just did not compare to the soup. Next came the mains: risotto, 2 sturgeon & a hamburger. All were delicious, wonderful, from presentation, to taste, texture - all four dishes were a hit out of the ballpark! Amazing Don't forget dessert - the apple cake & chocolates cake, again amazing, scrumptious. They need an expresso machine, yet their coffee was fine. Ambiance - not sure how to describe the place, as you can sit at a table or sit on couches & enjoy your meal. Service is stellar, wait staff know the menu, able to describe well & make recommendations. We'll be back & soon! Can't recommend this enough!

A hidden gem in Oakland near Lake Merritt. Looking for nice getaway - great food, wonderful food and incredible ambiance - well look no more this place has it all. You step back in time but not when it comes to taste or quality and their servers and some of the best in the bay.

No it's not Sheboygan, but you will think you're probably in Wisconsin. The paneled walls, leather bar stools, finger food appetizers, No, there's no pickerel. Or cheese curds. But there are plenty of creative and tasty menu items. The Salmon Pave's are excellent bites of smoked salmon on potato blocks. The fritters are beans and bacon and delish. For mains, we had the fettuccine (which was amazing) and capped it all off with a crazy apple cake that was caramel sweet and sea salt savory. So glad we didn't skip. Sat at the bar and had excellent cocktails. Just a great spot to tuck into on a dark and stormy night.

Was able to snag a last minute reservation and it didn't disappoint! The fritters were amazing. Very much like someone you know made them, black eyed peas and ham hock tasting little bursts! A must-try before they change.The ambiance is very unique with an old art deco vibe. Very casual posh, whatever that means. The drinks are good here. And the Oakland Caesar Salad is a must try.

Fantastic food - every dish. The mid century modern decor was really cozy yet chic. Not too noisy, could still hear everyone at the table. Food was served at a nice pace and the server was really relaxed and nice. Don't miss out on their burger!! The desserts are great too!

My husband and I can't stay away from this place!!! Gorgeous ambiance, attentive staff, and exceptional food. The pesto fettuccine is the best pasta we've ever had. Their burgers are to die for. We also love the salmon appetizer, the duck confit egg rolls, and their desserts. Our favorite place in Oakland for sure!

Went in for a 8:45 reservation for a date night. Immediately ordered Crispy Polenta, Caesar Salad two cocktails and the Ribeye. Cocktails, Polenta and Caesar came out very quickly, 9pm. The food was incredibly good. Very fresh salad, dressing was perfect. Polenta was great but the star was the pickled veg on top, very good. We had made a good dent in our food but the issue was the ribeye; It took incredibly long to receive. We received the ribeye right after 10pm, at that point we were a little confused because the waiter had not come around between the appetizers and the ribeye other than to refill our water, after we asked. The table next to us ordered the Dinner Party and it seemed like they got 3 dishes in between our apps and entree, so I wasn't sure if there was a priority towards the dinner party tables or not, but it did seem that way. Granted it was a busy night, I just wish there was a little transparency on making sure we were going to get our entree, or even just letting us know "Hey! The steak is taking a little longer than usual cause it's busy." Other than the wait for that, the steak was excellent. We had dessert after our entree which came out very quickly. We left around 10:40. All in all, food/drinks were very good, overall service was lower. 7.5/10

Food was ok but overpriced. Salad was pretty, with fresh ingredients, but didn't really come together with any kind of interesting dressing, it was just sort of a plate of pieces (persimmon, beet, date, walnuts, and some little bit of arugula). Chicken liver mouse was served on salty, garlicky bread with a fruit compote. It was pretty good but not the best I've had. The mocktail I had was great. Ambiance is cute, mid century modern decor reminded me of my living room in the '70s. Service was polite and accommodating.
