Ambiance ****Bright, airy, spacious, TVs showing sporting events on a Sunday afternoon. I am not sure it has the Bistro type feel of in between formal restaurant and casual feel as it heavily leans more toward the casual side with simple and sparse decoration, but it worked ok. From the street side view, it was very unassuming and honestly not that inviting. I think it could be better if there were more windows with better visibility of the interior.Service ****Attentive, courteous. Food came out fast. Minor complain, when I asked what part of the cow is Suadero, Beef Rose Meat, the answer was just "It's beef". I searched online afterward, I guess it is kind of hard to explain as it is the part between cow's belly and leg with no english word for it. Rose meat it is then. I ordered it anyway as I have never had it AFAIK.Food *****The tortilla and pita chips with salsa and hummus were good. Crispy yet soft chips, tasty salsa/hummus. The tacos were excellent with a couple of tortillas buried under large mound of meat, came with slices of radish, whole jalapenos, and slices of onions. I don't remember what type of fish was in the fish tacos but those were also pretty good though I would opt for the more traditional tacos. Carne asada was good, Suadero was great, I don't recommend the grilled chicken, too dry for me.Caldo de Res was awesome. The beef shank was very tender. I was expecting it to be somewhat stringy... not here. The soup was tasty, mixed with all the provided condiments, yum.Cost/Tipping PracticeConsidering the amount and quality of the food, I think the individual tacos and Caldo de Res were perfect, but the fish tacos (2 tacos) was too high. Paper bill, paid at the counter. No annoying extra service charge line items. Not sure about the tipping suggestions as I wasn't the one who went to pay at the counter.Overall, a winner and will definitely come again to try out their other dishes. Apparently they do lunch buffet every other weekend, might want to give that a try.

I found Asi on yelp and was surprised because I live just down the street but from the outside I would have never noticed it! I agree with previous reviews that the outside of the restaurant could be more inviting for people driving by. It's so easily overlooked. It's a cute little sit down family run restaurant. Very clean and modern. Their staff is super nice and attentive. They have an extensive menu and drink menu! They also have a happy hour and taco Tuesday deal. The complimentary house made tortilla and pita chip mix is delicious! Omg, they should bag it and sell it! And their house made hummus is 10/10. I just remember thinking we're off to a great start! My partner and I both ordered the shawarma plate, mine with chicken and his with beef, with hand made tortillas on the side. You get the option of pita bread as well. We both loved our entrees and gushed about how well they portioned the rice and the salad. The meat was flavorful and tender. The hummus although delicious, was a lot for me, I might ask for it in the side next time. The tortillas tasted just like my mom's. Such a heart warming meal!!I can't wait to bring my friends and family back with me. Great addition to the south SJ area :)!

Mexican Fusion with Mediterranean cuisine. I thought the food was OK, not great but not bad either.Good:Pita/Tortilla chips: This was really solid! I like the combination with salsa and hummus.Ok:Chicken Nachitos: pretty standard fare nachos. They don't come with salsa on them so you gotta add some on the side. The chips were a little grease laden. It was worth the happy hour pricing, but nothing spectacular.Chicken mole enchiladas: Also middle of the pack. The mole sauce was pretty good, and the chicken wasn't dry. Not a particular fan of the rice and beans, they came off unseasoned. My friend said the asada fries he got were ok but also nothing standout.Service was really friendly! Unfortunately I think they're understaffed especially on a weekday and some things took a while for our waiter to come around to due to the number of guests she was taking care of.A little disappointed given the high marks on Yelp, and overall a lukewarm score from me.

We came on a Tuesday evening. There was no host/hostess so we initially weren't sure whether we seat ourselves or wait. After waiting a couple minutes, someone said to help yourselves to a table (there were four available but they were dirty). We waited a few minutes for it to be cleaned, a few more to get menus, a few more to be greeted. They seemed short staffed and it wasn't fully packed either. Anyway, they brought us some chips that were half burned but the not burned ones tasted good and the salsa was good too. I had read that they usually offer hummus too but they said they didn't have it that day for some reason. We discovered it was taco Tuesday so we ordered the quesabirria taco plate, some $2 tacos, a kids quesadilla and a kids bowl. The bowl was brought out with steak instead of chicken (which we ordered). They quickly corrected it. The beef was too chewy on the tacos and the kids quesadilla (burned on one side) was tiny for $10. The bowl was a great portion size and the other tacos were awesome. It was also my child's birthday and they offered a free ice cream for both kids without us asking which was super nice. I'd come back for a taco Tuesday deal but wouldn't get the beef or the kids quesadilla again. It's a newer business so we understand some kinks to still be worked out. We'll try again sometime.

They say bad fusion can be called confusion. All I'm confused about is why I haven't heard of this blend of cuisines before.Así Mexican Fusion Bistro is a fairly new Halal Mexican restaurant that opened up circa January 2024. With fairly unassuming decor, Mexican music, and English language children's programming on the TVs, I wasn't sure what to expect other than that it was supposed to be tasty. My cousin and his kid were already there and tucking into a complimentary snack. There were chips and a tomatillo salsa, as you might expect, but also pita chips and a chipotle hummus. The chips and salsa were solid, but I couldn't get enough of the crispy pita and that luscious hummus. I only stopped when I realized that my order got a little bigger than anticipated. I do want to note that, when I switched off the sauces, it didn't work as well for me.I went with tacos all the way. The street tacos ($3.50) are all served with two soft corn tortillas, tomatillo salad, onions, cilantro, and copious amounts of protein. The grilled chicken, my cousin's recommendation, was surprisingly the star. It must've been marinated beforehand since it didn't rely on grilled flavor, but it was great. The carne asada had more grilled character but was a bit tough and chewy. The beef shawarma was a little more tender than the carne asada and had a great spice profile, but it did carry a capsaicin kick which I didn't expect. The sides of lime, grilled onions, chili, and radishes were much appreciated, although I only utilized the former two.Along the way, I also tried a bite of the Enchiladas de Tinga ($20.00, no photo to come since I didn't expect it), which had a great mild chile sauce along with crema, soft tortillas, and plenty of tasty shredded chicken. I probably would have left a higher rating if I didn't get to the Quesabirria ($5.00), a crispy taco with the au courant braised beef and mozz. The taco was fine, but the consomme served alongside was too intense in salt and/or chiles. I usually expect something very sippable, but this was so overpowering. Even with the pickled habanero onions - the habanero slivers are no joke, by the way - I couldn't balance it out.Service was a bit rough in that our server forgot one of my cousin's tacos and requests for additional salsas from the menu, but it may have serendipitously left him some room for dessert. We ended up sharing a Fresas Con Crema ($10.00). Just think chopped strawberries with whipped cream, but the cream is more runny. It's simple and straightforward, but very refreshing. It's not perfect by any means, but Así Mexican Fusion Bistro is a fun and exciting spot which anyone in the San Jose area should consider giving a whirl. Having been recommended some of the full entree items, such as the shakshuka from the pre-1pm breakfast menu and the habibis (lamb kebabs), I'm actually really tempted to give them another try on this trip despite already having notched this review.

Very warm and friendly vibes and a uniquely local menu! Así is a welcome addition to the neighborhood and a refreshing change from all the big chain restaurants typical in this part of town. The owners are local and oversee the details as if they were invited into their home. The food is delicious and prepared simply, no grease slick and lots of fresh ingredients throughout. My mom and I came on the Sunday all-you-can-eat buffet which happens monthly. There was a big spread of delicious and authentic Mexican comfort-food dishes like pozole and menudo which are not easy to find in restaurants! We also shared the mimosa flight which was beautifully presented and had some new flavors than the basic oj. They also had sports on tv screens so the men in attendance were happy and relaxed too lol. Honestly this reminds me of a neighborhood diner in a way, it feels like the kind of place you can take your time and get to know your neighbors while enjoying your meal. Very glad to have something fill this need for the community in the area! There is a fusion of Mexican and middle eastern dishes including halal meats and you get pita chips & hummus in addition to chips and salsa!

I was thoroughly impressed by the unique blend of Mediterranean and Mexican flavors at this spot. I never imagined I'd enjoy pita chips paired with salsa, but it worked perfectly! Their fusion concept is executed well, and most of their meat options are halal, which is a huge plus.I ordered the beef birria bowl, and it exceeded my expectations. The bowl was packed with tender, flavorful meat and came in a generous portion at a reasonable price. We also tried the kid's bowl with grilled chicken, and even that was bursting with flavor--perfectly seasoned and satisfying. On the other hand, my husband's vegetarian enchilada was slightly underwhelming. Still, the extensive drink menu and the variety of delicious salsas and sauces more than made up for it. The food did take a bit longer to arrive, but given how busy they were, it was understandable. The seating area is quite small, and the ambiance is simple and basic, so it's not a place for a long sit-down meal. That said, I'll definitely be coming back to explore more dishes. As someone who eats halal, finding Mexican-inspired options is rare, and this place is now my go-to!

This place was a wonderful surprise! Owned by a single mom, she and 2 of her daughters manage and run this little slice of deliciousness. Food was wonderful, service was great, and we even had a special surprise when the owner Lourdes delivered our food! I had the Al pastor kebab plate (yum!), my partner had a burrito he said was great. Portions were well sized, and the friendly attentive staff means we'll keep coming back. Thank you!

I went this week (2/4/2025) for the first time to try out this new restaurant in my neighborhood. It just happened to be on Taco Tuesday, yeah for me!Oh my! The food that I ate is so delicious! So far I have only had the taste bud delight of the mini Quesabirria tacos, from the Taco Tuesday menu. The simple tacos had amazing depth of flavor that left me speechless and drooling for more. The tortilla chips, pita chips, hummus dip and green salsa dips were also amazing and I had to force myself to stop eating the entire serving before my tacos came. ;)I ordered the Green Chicken Pozole to go. Friends of mine ruined me for green chicken pozole more than 10 years ago because it was the first time I had eaten the dish and I was eating their mother's recipe. I have never found another Green Chicken Pozole that lived up to that flavor since then. Until NOW! Thank you Asi! Though the ingredients are simple in Asi's pozole as in comparison to the first pozole I ate, the depth of flavor finally matched what I remember! I am so excited that I shared Asi's pozole with the person who cooked that first one for me. I can hardly wait to come back and eat this soup again and try other dishes from this menu.I promised the owner I would tell all of my friends and everyone I meet to go and sample their food and taste for themselves what my taste buds experienced and what my mind can not stop thinking about. LOLCatherine S.
