Araki Sushi

They have a nice wall painting giving a fun but relaxing vibe.Sashimi were fresh and slices were thick. Octopus was nicely done and lamb was good.

This japanese restaurant is located on University Ave, which is a popular food street in Palo Alto. We got the chirashi bowl, spider-man 3 roll, sexy-lady roll, and the tropical roll. The chirashi bowl came with a side of salad and miso soup and I really enjoyed the dressing on the salad. However, the tuna in the chirashi bowl tasted frozen and was not fresh; the other sashimi were okay. The rolls were average and a bit small in size. We also thought the service was okay as it took a long time for us to get the check.

The food was fine and the portion size was appropriate for lunch. Variety to choose from in the bento combinations was good.The tonkatsu was just a little dry - it's pretty typical of what you get at many Japanese restaurants - probably not to risk undercooking or because the cutlet is quite thin and therefore hard to avoid overcooking. But the best tonkatsu is tender and juicy.Other items also fairly typical.Wouldn't hesitate to come here again, but also wouldn't necessarily seek it out because there wasn't really anything to make it stand out from other similar places.Service was good though, and the place was clean and pleasant.

Relaxing and quiet atmosphere with attentive service. The bento was filling, affordable, and fresh. However, the chicken kara-age was lacking as it was not really crispy and very dry. I think thighs could have been used instead of breast. The sushi was pretty fresh and the cuts are nice and thick. The signature araki roll was 5/5!! Would visit here again for affordable and delicious sushi.

I came here with my friend for a light sushi dinner to celebrate his birthday. I ordered a side salad, miso soup, and salmon belly sashimi. He ordered a salad, miso soup, and teriyaki chicken. To end the sweet evening, we each had 3 scoops of green tea ice cream.The salmon belly was not on the menu, so I really appreciated that they offered it when I inquired. The quality of the fish was fresh and the cuts were thick. The cuts were a bit inconsistent, some larger than others, but they were fresh. The miso soup was well balanced in flavor and was not salty. There were plenty of seaweed and pieces of tofu, which was great. The salad was fresh and not wilted. I had a bite of my friend's teriyaki chicken and liked the flavor. We both enjoyed our green tea ice cream, which had a nice matcha flavor and was creamy in texture.The restaurant was very accommodating, we were there from 7pm to 10:30pm and they did not kick us out! Our server refilled my hot green tea a few times, always with a smile.After dinner, we took a stroll along University Avenue, which was beautifully lit. The restaurant is located along this busy and well-lit strip that had a really nice atmosphere for an evening walk after dinner. There were plenty of street parking, as well as a free parking garage nearby.Definitely come check out this restaurant!

Great spot for well priced sushi and fabulous service. Walked in with a party of 10 since my family and I didn't want to wait over an hour at Sweet Maple. We only waited a good 15 minutes before the host got us seated! The lunch specials are such a great deal! We brought in a cake to celebrate a birthday and the staff was kind enough to provide us a knife and plenty of plates! no cake fee or anything. We made sure to give them a nice tip. Would totally go back!

We had DoorDash delivery from here twice already, and we're happy with the food. The good portion is good for price and the fish was fresh and tasty. Will definitely order again.

Sushi spot located on University Avenue with many other food establishments on the street. We ordered a dinner combo ($26.95) which comes with 2 items listed under the combo, miso soup, and salad. We chose the salmon lover roll and caterpillar roll which came with 8 pieces. Salmon lover roll had a decent amount of salmon which was great. The caterpillar roll could have had more unagi but still a decent roll. Salad dressing was really good and I could eat the salad all day. We also split a sashimi deluxe ($38.95) which came with 18 pieces chosen by the chef on a boat tray. We got 6 different types of fish, with 3 pieces per fish. Most of the pieces were thick, soft, and tasted fresh. Overall a comfy sushi spot to try if you are in the area!

Ordered the Dinner combo which consists of soup, salad, and two items of choice. I opted for Hamachi Avocado roll and Salmon Avocado roll. Also got a Baby Octapus Kara-ag appetizer. This is a good amount for one person, or split with two people with small appetites. The soup and salad were nice small portions to start with, warm and umami soup and light but sweet dressing on the salad. The Hamachi avocado roll was pretty decent and the Salmon avocado roll were very bite size portions, pretty good on flavor. The Baby Octapus Kara-ag was also really nice and chewy. Ultimately, a decent spot to satisfy a simple sushi craving. Place does get quite busy in the evenings so there may be a wait for seating. Service was pretty swift when we needed them. And general ambiance is very busy, chattering, and warm.

We got some rolls and baby octopus karaage and it was so yummy! We went on a Monday for dinner and it was pretty busy. Didn't take too long to get a table but the 3 of us sat by the window at a bar like seating. Service was quick and helpful when we had questions and wanted more water. Perfect vibe for sushi that's not too expensive but still fresh.
