The sushi chef used brown avocados in the Rainbow Roll. We told the waitress. She said the chef claimed the entire box of avocados were brown. We suggested they don't serve brown avocados in their sushi rolls. The hamachi sashimi was fresh. The small salad had Parmesan cheese on it, no dressing. What happened to the quality and the Japanese food aesthetics? Did we just happen to choose a bad night to eat there? My parents have lived in Bay Farm Island since 1975, and we use to eat at Angel Fish. For my Japanese mother to have liked it until 2018, was quite a compliment. But we stopped eating here because of the quality of food. Now my daughter lives down the street, so we wanted to give Angel Fish a try. OWe will not be returning to this restaurant.

Came here early Friday evening for a quick dinner with my mom around 6pm. Our order: alaska roll ($9 ish), 49-er roll ($17+ ish), and ikura with quail egg nigiri ($8-9 ish). So overall a pretty small meal.Pros:- easy parking lot with lots of spots available- The fish tasted pretty fresh! Loved the ikura nigiri and the salmon in the alaska roll was great- Good rice to fish ratio in the rolls- Decent sized space, good for parties 2-6- the hot tea was goodCons:- A bit overpriced in my opinion for smaller quantity - I was quite surprised by the price of the 49er roll when I saw it come out. I feel like for a roll that is $17, it better be HUGE and fill me up. Not sure if it's because there's less competition in this part of Alameda?- The service was average. We waited a long time for the check, and then a long time waiting for them to take my card and give it back (we ate the portion so quickly it felt like we spent an equal amount of time eating vs. paying for our food).Vibes:- casual. But can get a bit loud if busy. Something about like the echo-y nature of the longer room? Not a bad place to get sushi if you're craving and happen to be in the Alameda area and don't want to go to Park St or a nearby city. But didn't super shine for me.

Local sushi restaurant on Bay Farm Island run by a Japanese chef (rare these days). We've both dined here and ordered to-go from here quite a few times for sushi cravings, a quick dinner, etc. Recommendations:- Salmon Salad: coming in two sizes (small and large), this salad is mixed with olive oil and topped with raw salmon and tobiko. Definitely not a typical salad, but is tasty (I order without the Parmesan) - 49ers roll: unliked other restaurants, Angel Fish adds tobiko to their 49ers roll, which is a fun touch. This is typically one of my go-to orders- Oshinko: we order this with green onion for an added flare of flavor- Tamago: not my favorite tamago, but it does the job- Tempura: their vegetable tempura is good (especially the sweet potato)Miscellaneous:- Parking is shared with other shops in the plaza- Bathroom is tucked in the back

Best tempura and fried oysters ever!!! Local restaurant surviving the pandemic. This place really knows how to do their fried stuff. The torched scallop and salmon is also to die for.

There was no one eating here at dinnertime. Tables were not set. Only us to wait on, yet service was glacial, and the waitress totally disengaged. Food slow, and poorly paced. One dinner took an hour. Tragic demise. Goodbye, Angel Fish.

I am so disappointed with this restaurant. New owners took over in the past 6months or so and what was once the best sushi restaurant in the East Bay has sadly become a place I can no longer enjoy. We paid almost $200 for this mediocre meal and won't be back. Why did you remove the spicy tuna from your menu? That was one of the best items on the menu. I can't recommend this restaurant to anyone. What's really sad for you, the new owner, is you had a gold mine. You could have continued the legacy of the previous owner, recipes and all. Instead, you chose to squander it. Sad!
