Aloha Fresh is so far the closest to Hawaiian poke that I've tried in San Jose. I've tried Santo market, which is also really good, and I like that Aloha Fresh is a bit less salty. Aloha's fish tastes fresh, and they have lots of variety in terms of seafood/flavors. My favorite is the kalbi ahi--try this one if you like a mix of sweet and savory. I like to buy poke by the pound, but they also do bowls and poke nachos here. You can also get some sides by the pound as well! Price is reasonable, and service is quick. You can usually find nearby street parking. It's also close to a mochi shop, which I love stopping by after! Definitely check this place out if you're looking for some good poke or if you're spending some time in the Japantown area.

We came by a bit before closing time on a Thursday and the line was still going pretty strong. The line moved quite slowly but all good because I was mostly relieved that they weren't out of any of the items I wanted. No seating inside, more of a grab and go situation. I got the poke lover bowl (2 poke, 2 sides) and chose half rice/half salad base, kukui nut salmon, scallops, mac salad, and crab salad. Poke was fresh and dressed well. Not my order but I tried some of the masago wasabi ahi which had a few tendon-y bites. I preferred the salmon over the ahi tuna. Mac salad and crab salad were both delicious! The bowls are definitely more filling than they look. I thought I wouldn't be too full from it but ended up having some leftover rice at the end and felt stuffed.

At first this poke bowl scratched my itch for poke, & it tasted really good. Halfway through my bowl I was getting full & so I took a few more bites only. 5 minutes later I feel violently while driving home, only to have stomach pains & sitting in the bathroom for a while. Unfortunately, something in this bowl gave me mild food poisoning, as I didn't eat anything before this poke bowl as my lunch except an orange. The butter mochi was ok, $2.50 each. They are big yet dense, & the flavors they had were lilikoi & guava, which is differentiated by the glaze on top.

Came here on a Saturday night and got my food pretty quick! I got the poke nachos and they were so good. It comes with wonton chips, your choice of fish (I chose ahi) and seaweed salad! It was honestly a solid meal, not too filling, but not left needing more. They also add a fair amount of sauce and a mixture of diced onions/tomatoes. I also tried the spam musubi. It was good, but a little skinny. I'd definitely come back for the poke nachos and to try some other menu items!

A small cute shop for grab and go poke bowls! So far this is the closest authentic Hawaiian poke in the Bay that I've tried. Just a heads up-any dish that is labeled "spicy" includes wasabi. I'm not a wasabi fan so I was thrown off by it after I tried their spicy salmon. What I tried on different occasions: - Spicy salmon: Love salmon but wasn't expecting wasabi in this. I would try their other salmon dishes. - Kukui nut ahi: Yum!! I love the nutty flavor and it complements the ahi well. - Kalbi Ahi: Good but I prefer Kukui more. This one has a similar flavor to Kukui with a hint of sweetness. - Garlic Mayo scallops: Eh. The Mayo sauce overpowered the scallops and it had mild wasabi. Service is okay but it's a grab and go so I didn't expect much. I recommend checking it out if you're in the area!

I've been on a hunt for a new poke place since my previous favorite has gone downhill. I've previously heard great things about Aloha Fresh so I decided to give them a shot. Aloha Fresh is known for being Hawaiian-style poke rather than the more American-style and they import their fish straight from Hawaii. Let's see how they stack up.FOODThere are several different bowls they offer with various different things, but, in general, they have three categories: poke, sides, and hot options. For their poke, they have different types of seafood including the standard ahi and salmon, and the rarer scallops and octopus. Their ahi and salmon have different types of marinade options and you can see all their offerings in their display.I've opted for the #1 Poke Lovers bowl, which comes with 2 poke and 2 sides. The bowl comes with your choice of rice, some greens, and is topped with ginger. They also add some sauce into the rice before adding your poke and sides. The poke is very fresh and marinated just the right amount so the flavor isn't overwhelming. For the sides, there are two sides that you have a pay a bit extra, but the sides are generally very good as well and add variety for your bowl. I do wish the crab salad was no extra charge, but they have good alternatives.Food is great. It's refreshing and not heavy at all. You'll leave happy and full! The first time I had this, I forgot to take a picture because i was too eager to try it. Take that as you may.SERVICEIt's basically counter service. The few times I've come, there was a line, but it usually moves fast, even as they are juggling online orders and in-person orders. When it's your turn, they'll ask you what you want and then build your bowl. Once it's done, you pay at the register. Utensils, napkins, and soy sauce/hotsauce is self-serve by the register.Service is quick and efficient. Never had a problem with the service.COSTFor the #1, it's basically $20 after everything. A bit on the pricey side for the meal, but for the quality and the quantity you are getting, it's a great price. Not exactly the cheapest eats, but very reasonable.SETTINGNo seating is available here, but there are lots of tables scattered around Japantown if you want to eat. Most of the interior is just for people waiting to pick up their order or for the line to build. If you are grabbing this for a date, I recommend walking around town and finding a spot to eat it. Otherwise, this is a grab and go place.Parking might be tricky depending on when you go since it's all street parking. The parking near the restaurant is generally paid parking if it's a weekday, so you might have to park a few blocks over if you don't want to pay for parking.Overall, Aloha Fresh is my new favorite in the South Bay. Give them a shot and you won't be disappointed!4.75/5

The reviews and website mentions Hawaiian style poke so had to give it a try. Glad I did. I went with the Poke Lover bowl which gets 2 fish and 2 sides. I went with the tuna and salmon both were soy sauce based. The sides i chose were macaroni salad and namas cucumber. The fish was fresh and the sauce and stuff mixed in the poke reminded me of the one I had in Hawaii last year. They give you choice of black (Korean) or white rice. The sides were tasty and went well with the poke. I also got the.mochi cake (3 for $7). Two pieces were yummy but 1 piece seemed not fully baked. There is no indoor seating so to go only. The people were friendly and helpful.

Aloha Fresh is probably one of the most authentic and fresh poke you'll find in San Jose. My friend and I came here right after our trip from Hawaii and couldn't tell the difference between the two. The person who took our order was so sweet! There were so many options to choose from. We ordered the Poker Lover, I wish I remembered the flavors we chose. All I know is that they were both salmon and delicious! The bowl was enough to fill me up and the thai tea was so good, not too sweet at all. Will definitely be coming back here when I am craving poke!

Nice little poke shop located in Japantown serving a large variety of poke options. I had the poke lover bowl with two scoops of spicy ahi. The fish was nicely seasoned and tasted fresh. It came with a generous amount of seaweed salad. The kimchi was alright, not the best I've had. The price was reasonable for the poke bowl, which was average sized. Overall I really enjoyed the meal and would be happy to come back.

Aloha Fresh is so damn good. I think I've finally perfected my order: a Poke Lover bowl with half rice half salad, kukui nut ahi, spicy salmon, mac salad, and pickled onion. SO GOOD. The fish is super fresh and you can definitely taste and feel the difference in texture. I literally never go to those Chipotle-style poke places anymore. The kukui nut ahi had this sesame oil kinda flavor that's super good, and I love the crispness of the limu seaweed. It's also not too saucy so it tastes very refreshing. The spicy salmon is more saucy but it all comes together with the fattiness of the salmon super well.I also really enjoy their hot foods like kalua pork and fried chicken!I love their generous points system that offers random rewards, like a birthday bogo!I came close to closing on a weekday and they gave me 3 free chicken teriyaki musubis!
