Been here a couple times and each has been on point. First of all, don't mess around, get the chips and guac. The guac is incredibly savory, has the chunks of avocado so you know it's freshly made. And the chips are shiny and salty and so good on their own. I could eat that as my entire meal. But all their main dishes are also really good, I've had the enchiladas which are super saucy and rich and recently the cecina which is an adobo marinated pork that was super tender and flavorful (a little sweet). Beans and rice are nothing special but solid all around.Drink selection is great and the staff is super friendly and know how to serve a large group - if you're going with your work team you won't be disappointed. Definitely check them out, you won't be disappointed, and for the love of all that is holy...get the guac and chips!

Came for a work lunch during the day. Ordered a guacamole and chips as an appetizer. It was fresh and very limey, delicious. I got the cecina as a main entree. The adobo sauce was flavorful and the handmade tortillas really took it to the next level. The service was quick and efficient. It is a very pretty restaurant inside, full of character.

Absolutely 5+ stars. If I could give them more I would. My friend and I came in before a show at the Paramount theatre and it was so busy. Everyone we encountered was so nice despite running around. We were greeted and given multiple updates on timing. Once we were seated everything was so quick. The drink order and delivery was less than 5 minutes. We ordered a mocajete to share which also came out in record time, steaming hot tortillas. LJ was our main server who was so lovely and professional. We were checked on by multiple people and I honestly am blown away with the amazing service. Thank you team!

Beautiful venue. The service was top notch. The food did not taste good. It's my second time trying it, and the food in my opinion does not taste good. I was not able to eat my entree. For authentic yummy Mexican food i would recommend Rico Rico. The drinks at Agave are a 10, just the food wasn't the best.

It was my first time at Agave Uptown in Oakland! My friend recommended this place for us. I got the "Big Fish Taco" and it was pretty big serving and it did come with a side salad. I did enjoy how my fish was cooked and it tasted real fresh. My friend got the Tasajo (beef) and my other friend got the Enchiladas combo. We also got guacamole and chips as an appetizer. I did try one of their tequila drinks which was the Cielito. The drink was pretty good too and loved the extra garnish. They did charge $2 extra dollars for extra tortillas. Ambiance was really nice and we liked the cultural design and intricacies of the restaurant it was quiet when we went at around 5 pm with a few customers trickling in. The server was also very energetic and kind. I did enjoy the portion sizes, presentation and taste of the dishes as well. Will come back to this restaurant to try more of their selections.

In the heart of Uptown Oakland, Agave serves classic Mexican food. There is both indoor and outdoor seating. Great customer service both from the bartenders and servers. Would definitely recommend HH over regular dinner service. It's much more worth the price & ambiance. Was not impressed by the enchiladas, because it came loaded w/ a mound of melted cheese. Also the ceviche was ooookay. Didn't seem all that fresh and not enough citrus kick to it. However the HH tacos are very good and worth the price. Along w/ their margarita, the chips and salsa was a nice combo. Also, I was very impressed by their guacamole. It came w/ fresh, warm chips and a side of salsa.

This is an okay restaurant. I found it online because of the pretty pictures. We had left a graduation and were looking for a "nice" place to eat at in town. This place looks cute from the outside. However, the food is okay, After we ate here, some members from our party got sick. The enchiladas were bland. I chose to orderveggies instead of beans and you can't go wrong with veggies. Lol. The Molcajete is great if you're going to share. The only item I would highly recommend is the Flan! They make it in house and it was delicious, sweet but delicious! However, they didn't bring water unless we asked. I needed water and no one would come unless I called them over. When I went to the bathroom, I noticed there were 3 employees just standing around talking. I wouldn't come back because the food wasn't great and the service was not attentive. This place adds flowers to your food so that you'll forget how bland it tastes. In my picture, you'll notice the empty glass of water because no one was being attentive and pouring water. Also, we found street parking a few streets away. You can pay for the meter with coins or card.

A gastronomic gem of Oakland, Agave Uptown was the perfect place for a work lunch. The citrus infused water lets you know that this place pays attention to detail. I got a mango cocktail that was really refreshing. For my lunch I ordered the coastal bowl with sea bass. The sea bass was perfectly cooked, tender, flaky, and the chef did not overpower the dish with salt. The natural flavors of the seasonal vegetables and the sea bass itself shined. And that is truly what is so great about the food here: flavor comes from the complex combination of ingredients and not from salt or spices masking the ingredients. The quality of food here is top-notch, complemented with attentive, friendly service, set with comforting, rustic ambiance. Highly recommend.

Came for company Christmas lunch got there around 11:45am Thursday it was nice and empty. We walked in the decor was beautiful! Vibrant and rich from the giant heads to the murals on the wall it felt authentic. Our server was hilarious super chill and patient couldn't have asked for a better person for our crowd. The whole table ordered fresh guava juice and they came in these thick beautiful hand blown glasses. Fresh guava juice 100000/10 Chips, guacamole, salsa fresh authentic and did not skimp you get the real deal! 10/10 unlimited chips keeps hitting the table without asking staff. I personally had the Tlayuda (do not I repeat do not go in there asking for the Oaxacan pizza you will be kicked out and banned) whoever labeled that and the molcajete as a "hot pot" needs their reviews flagged! Back to the task the Tlayuda was hands down soooo good I added the mixed meat the flavor, the portions, the meat being cooked to perfection juicy and not tough for being so thin. Chefs kiss! 20 minutes in the whole restaurant was packed!!! I can imagine it being hard to get in for dinner but well well worth it. Kudos to the cooks and servers this will be on repeat for me.
