A Cut Below. Their stand at the "Holiday Village in the Park" in Livermore's Carnegie park. Ordered Meatball Sandwich, Gumbo, a Soda and a Water. $34 total. Waited half an hour to receive food, meanwhile watched 5 people who obviously do not know what they are doing fumble around while only one person worked the grill, making a single dish at a time. I thought, at least he'll be paying attention to only my food while he's making it, looks good the whole time. But it took so long that multiple times I considered canceling the order and getting my money back. If it were only food for me I would have. Eventually, I hear them discussing how to prepare the food I had ordered so I move up closer to the pickup tent hole, I hear them multiple times correct the grill guy who is attempting to make me a steak sandwich by mistake, despite constant coaching. Eventually they call my name, and thank me for my patience, repeatedly insisting "It's Worth It!". I ask if they have any condiments, they seem confused, but after some discussion I finally get them to offer me Ketchup and Mustard, which should not have been so much effort to get from them, I specifically ask if they have mayo, which is more appropriate for their menu and the food I ordered, but they do not. They did offer me ceasar dressing, which in hindsight I should have accepted. I then need to remind them to give me my drinks. So we have our food now, and Guess What! IT WAS NOT WORTH IT. I'll start with the Meatball sandwich. Meatballs were cold, flavorless, mushy, dry and had very little sauce, which itself was flavorless. there were less than 10 shreds of cheese sprinkled on top, the bread was soggy, and yet, too tough to bite through easily, 0/10. per my girlfriend, Gumbo was also flavorless, no spices, very bland, though she did note that there was lots of shrimp, 4/10, or as she relates, "like a microwave dinner".

We had an outdoor dinner for 8 and A Cut Above Catering came early to set the table, and get everything ready before guests arrived. They served the absolutely delicious appetizers selected by the chef and his server poured the wine. It was so elegant and professional! He created a seafood theme with all the trimmings, veggies, bread and salad. He surprised us with an amazing desert that was light and delicious! He brought his own Bar-b-que and table, set up in our patio and after the meal was served, he and his server cleaned up the dishes and kitchen. The place looked immaculate when they were finished. We have used the services of Jake Williams at A Cut Above catering and find him to be an exceptional chef. His food is delicious and popular with our friends and clients.
