4/5 for the experience but 3/5 for the food/value.Cool concept and fun to experience the first time but don't think I will be a regular. Each wooden skewer is 80 cents, which sounds like a deal but is actually quite expensive. The portion size of one skewer is tiny - one slice of mushroom, one quail egg, one slice of meat, etc. I guess it's good if you want to try everything. The broths are also expensive, ranging from around $15 to $30. For two people, we got ~25 skewers and two dishes from the menu (pig trotter and spicy beef). Food was good but nothing special and definitely not worth the high price tag. Only pro is that you get to try a variety of things but if you usually stick to a few dishes, hotpot is the way to go.

Came here with my friends for dinner on a Saturday night. We arrived at around 7:30 and we got seated right away. They're known for their skewers hotpot so that's what we mostly got. They had a bunch of skewers at the front of the restaurant and we just picked the ones we wanted and put it on a tray. We then chose a broth for the skewers to be cooked in (we picked bone broth) and the server brought it to the kitchen to cook them. Most skewers were $0.8 and the iron skewers were $5. $0.8 may not sound like a lot but they add up very quickly. The skewers portion was also very small. For example, one piece of bokchoy was one skewer, which means that was $0.8 and they put two skewers into one piece of fishball, which means the fishball was $1.6 a piece. Since we knew just eating the skewers may be very pricy, we also ordered a beef malatang, chicken with chili sauce, one rice and one noodle to share. Overall, I think the food was only mediocre and I was pretty overwhelmed by the amount of msg that was used in everything. I don't have anything against the use of msg but I could pretty much only taste the msg and nothing else. I could also tell they used a lot of baking soda when marinating their beef. While the beef was very tender because of the baking soda, unfortunately, it also lost all its natural flavor. The chicken with chili sauce's portion was also unbelievably small. It was served in a small rice bowl and half of it was cucumber. The only thing that I liked was the malatang. I loved the spice and portion was reasonable but there was still too much msg. We also paid extra $3 per person for sauce but we barely used them so I probably won't recommend getting them. We had 52 skewers in total at the end and since we paid in cash, they gave us a 10% discount. Total after tips and tax came out to be $105, which means it was $35 per person. Price was not bad but I think it's only that cheap because we ordered an entree and some rice and noodle along with the skewers. Service was great but I don't think the food was that good. I don't think I'll come back again.

This place was pretty solid for a hotpot skewer place in manhattan, although come in prepared with how to order. I read some reviews on here to see what I should do, and in the end we had a very pleasant meal.If you're dining in, get seated. Each table has its own individual QR code which makes it easy for service to get you appetizers and non hot pot items. Just make sure you're clear on what you want before you add it. Once you hit send for the first round, every subsequent addition will send it to the kitchen. For hot pot there's a whole wall of skewers from .80 c, 1.60 c (some items have two skewers in them) to $5 (metal skewers). There is a minimal sauce station but honestly it was enough for me. The sauce bowls come premixed with dry and oil based sauces and the ingredients are on the wall. You can add a few items like herbs chilis and sauces to them. Pick a base, then give someone a tray of all the skewers you select and then they cook it in the kitchen. Everything here you can add as you go which is nice. Ambiance is very chill, and very comfortable. You're pretty much left alone aside from ordering from your phone or getting more skewers, pretty much self serve.I'd come here again.Lastly, their soup dumplings were surprisingly nice and they come free with any meal over $10. I thought this was a lunch thing so we double ordered xlbs and were actually pretty happy about that. The menu can be a little confusing, I would take each page very literally. We also had the fried pork and smashed cucumbers, pretty solid.

(Overall: C) - This is an interesting skewer place where they cook the skewers in a broth kind of like hotpot minus the sticks. While there was a lot of variety including some exotic options like frog, the food price quickly adds up and is a bit pricey actually -- as while one stick is only 80 cents, it may only have one piece of mushroom for example. This is an interesting concept that isnt in widely popular in NYC. The atmosphere is also quite nice, except the bathroom which the floor was very sticky.--Food: EPresentation: EPrice: -1Atmosphere: EService: EMenu: +1Overall: +0 CInsta/Beli: @amei_eats

Food 9/10Sooo many different skewers to choose from, I was in heaven. The bamboo sticks are $0.8 each, and the metal sticks are $5 each. A little on the pricey side, but I went for the lobster and the abalone in my hotpot and I have no regrets. I really went ham on the selection, there were so many different meats and vegetables, with a few favorites being the beef tendons, quail eggs, mushrooms, and many other beef cuts. They also have an a la carte menu, so we went for the cold cucumbers, fried pork sticks, and milk mochi dessert (麻薯). I also added some wide noodles to the hotpot, and I recommend getting the beef tomato soup base. The mochi dessert and flat noodles are my absolute favorites. Could not stop eating the dessert it was AMAZING. Atmosphere 7/10The interior had a comic-esque design wallpaper, with wooden simple chairs. Plenty of seats but the room was quite filled with diners. The only negative is the bathroom is in the basement and it is quite cold downstairs. Service 9/10Super speedy, really enjoyed how attentive they were. We also got some extra skewers in the end because they gave us an add-on order that was meant for another table lol

Rated 4 stars on both yelp and google - bruh, I've been lied to. Came here excited to try it out but honestly, we were confused, very confused. We were wondering if we just get the skewers first but we decided to get a table first so we got seated and this waitress saw we were Asian and immediately started talking in Mando to us. Like that was unexpected but also like just because we Asian, you assume we speak it well? Wierd but ok good thing we understood you even though you spoke it super fast. There is a paper menu on the small ass table my sister and I were seated at that shows the instructions of how to get the skewers. We went to pick our skewers, goddamn can you be any more grimy? 1 piece of meat on a stick? Not very eco-friendly either with all the sticks you wasting. 2 sticks meant it was $1 vs 80 cents. There is also a QR code to order other stuff on the menu. We got 18 sticks in total however the thing is 2 of the sticks, we definitely did not order. I was like wtf. We ordered the 2 rice bowls and cold spicy chicken. The chicken came out but I had to ask twice for the rice, which I ended up getting 1 instead. Not to mention that the cold chicken was in a small bowl with big pieces of cucumber under it. So I barely got chicken and the chicken had mostly bones. I was super annoyed by this point and wanted to get out of there because it wasn't it, fam. I was still hungry (correction - hangry) after that. So if you pay by cash, it will be cheaper. I never saw a sign for that. Would have been nice to know that and be prepped for it. So surprised it was packed in here - I wanted to tell everyone, it ain't worth it. $45 dollars for a small bowl of cold chicken, 18 skewers and 1 bowl of rice? GTFO. I rather spend all that to do my own hotpot at home and I'd get way more bang for my buck.

The food was very delicious here! Tons of seating inside & the artwork+decor was fun. We ordered a few skewers & the chef cooks it & it comes out in a large pot of spicy broth. I chose mild and it was a bit spicy to me but super delicious. They also have a bowl of their spicy oil dipping sauce & there were other sauces to choose from. That broth was very delicious. I did not have to use much of the sauces on my skewers. Also tried the fried milk & it was delicious and interesting. Crunchy and savory on the outside and milky+sweet on the inside. Staff was friendly & attentive. Food came out fast & it was tasty.

It was a very interesting experience as I have never eaten this type of food (Chinese skewer hotpot) before. We came to eat here yesterday (Sunday) and it was not busy. We sat at the booth area & it was comfortable and spacious. Loved the artwork and decor of the place. There were many different types of foods to choose from (you have to use your phone to scan the menu). You can order the food via your phone, or tell the staff. In regards to the skewers, I do not think they were all 80 cents each because some items (lobster, frog, etc) had a metal stick in it + some items had 1 or 2 wooden sticks in it. Maybe each wooden stick is 80 cents each (so if a fish ball has 2 wooden sticks in it, it cost $1.60) + the metal stick (found in the lobster, frog, etc) is also another price. I do have to say that the amount of food on each of the skewers were quite small (half a sausage, 1 lettuce leaf, etc). If you want to be full, you might have to keep coming back to get more skewers. Thankfully, we were not hungry and just wanted to try the food + got a few types. After you finish choosing the skewers, you give it to the staff who gives it to the chef to cook & then it comes dipped in a large pot of spicy broth (you choose the spice level). We ordered mild and it was a bit spicy but super tasty. The broth was super delicious & the skewers were delicious! There is also a bowl of their special oil dipping sauce + other sauces in the front. Honestly, the broth was so amazing, you do not need additional sauce. We got a bowl of rice to eat w/ the broth + skewers & it was deeelicious! We also got an order of their fried milk (that comes w/ condensed milk as a dipping sauce) & it was delicious! It was very different and unique. It was crunchy and savory on the outside & sweet and milky on the inside. Staff was friendly & attentive. The food came out fast & it was tasty. I also agree w/ other yelp reviewers that the amount adds up & you will be surprised w/ your bill.
