Great place for dinner! Came with a friend and had a reservation. The place itself is very beautiful and aesthetic, honestly such a great date spot.We shared the radicchio caesar salad, tempura delicata squash, and rigatoni. Portions are a bit on the smaller side so would recommend ordering more. All were delicious but the rigatoni was definitely the favorite.

I came here for brunch on a Saturday. We didn't have reservations, but were seated right away. We entered at the front of the restaurant, which had a few tables, but was not staffed by anyone. At first we were a bit confused about where to go and whether they were open. However, if you walk down the hall, past the restrooms, you come to the back of the restaurant, which was much more spacious and and had a hostess at the counter who was able to seat us. To eat, I had the avocado toast. It was the perfect portion size. I added the poached egg, which was thoroughly cooked and not runny. The avocado was chunky and fresh. The bread was hearty and thick. Only negative was that they gave me a butter knife to cut it, but because of the extra crunchy crust, it really called for a serrated knife. The dish was topped with pistachios, which were satisfyingly salty and offered nice texture. Service was fast. The restaurant has a bright and airy ambiance with light wooden decor. Great option for brunch and good for groups.

My friend and I went to Winona's on a Sunday for brunch at 1pm. We made reservations on Resy. From the outside it looks like a small take-out coffee shop, but once you get into the back room, the space is very cute! It had cozy vibes, and, since we went in December, there was a tinsel tree in the middle of the dining room.I ordered the Croque Winona ($15) and my friend got the Grains & Greens ($14) with crispy chicken ($8). The Grains & Greens bowl was actually recommended as the favorite of our server, and my friend said that it was absolutely delicious! She also mentioned that the bowl was very filling, even if it did not appear to look like it. I also enjoyed the flavors of the Croque Winona, though I would probably not get it again. I felt like the dairy products overpowered the other flavors and was not to my taste. I actually think for my dish, the price point is not bad for the ambiance, presentation, and flavor. Above $20 for a salad/bowl will always be high to me, but I would return to try the bowl specifically. If it is as good as my friend says, that would justify the price for me.Service was great here! We had good menu recommendations and there were frequent check-backs. However, it definitely felt like they were pressuring us to leave, and we were not even there for an hour. Also, there were several empty tables in the restaurant. Maybe they had a larger party coming in later, but saying something up front would be better than making people feel pressured to leave. I would still return because the food was good, and I would recommend it to anyone looking for a more upscale brunch place!

You have to try this place for BRUNCH! Their carajillo (aka their version of an espresso martini) is unreal. Seriously. I will be dreaming about this drink for a while. The lava salt on it!? Perfect. The shakshouka was good, the bread to dip in it tasted like it was JUST made.

Trendy downtown style restaurant located on the northern edge of Bed-Stuy on the cusp of Jewish Williamsburg. Modern feel to the restaurant with a speakeasy inspired entrance leading to a large dining room with high ceilings and an open kitchen. We walked in on a Thursday night and were seated immediately.Menu is well designed and super approachable. A few bread based items to starter. We opted for the Parker house dinner rolls. The rolls aren't too buttery aside from the glaze at the top. I think it's meant to showcase the artisanal butter it's served with. The butter has creamy and slightly funk taste to it. Quite rich (I mean it's butter). I'd guess it's grass fed cow butter. Definitely the good stuff. Next, we shared the gem salad and the blue fin tuna crudo. I highly recommend the tuna. Probably some of the best quality tuna that I've had. I'm inclined to say it's a great value when comparing the price to similar dishes omakase spots. For the main course, we shared the cavatelli with lamb along with the wagyu steak. Cavatelli was my favorite dish of the evening. House made pasta served with tender and juicy braised lamb. Some chunks of Hazelnut giving an earthy and chocolatey flavor plus a nice little crunch. Sauce had a pleasant balance between herby and spicy. Loved how this dish came out. I wasn't a fan of the steak. I overlooked the part of the description which said it was made with kunik cheese. Kunik cheese is soft cheese made of a blend of goat's and cow's milk. It's aged like brie and develop a funky flavor. Certainly my fault for agreeing to order an item with an ingredient that I have a distaste for. I was also not a fan of the band of fat on the steak. I normally enjoy the fat (I finish off the bits that my wife usually cuts off) and I like cured fat such as salo/slanina; unfortunately, I found it tough and it didn't have the melty consistency that I enjoy. Wine list was excellent. Big list of wines by the bottle. Maybe half a dozen wines by the glass, but a perfect variety. Those folks definitely know their wine. Service was superb. Very knowledgeable and helpful. Staff was ultra attentive and there was a perfect pacing to the courses. There were two gender neutral restrooms. The one I used was spacious and handicap accessible.

Probably 3.5 stars.I was fairly excited to try one of the lone outposts of fine Williamsburg dining south of Broadway, in a part of the neighborhood where you're more likely to find a matzoh factory than a plate of crispy brussel sprouts. I will say that Winona's space is beautiful - the small front lobby hides a cavernous sunlit dining room in the back of the restaurant. For brunch, I found the food middling - I had a shakshuka with that favorite condiment of the #brooklynmenu, labne. I enjoyed the crispy onion topping, but otherwise the shakshuka was a bit one-note, and the labne didn't add much flavor as it was mostly stirred into the soup. The grilled bread with butter on the side was OK.

After 2 visits, I'm fixated on the randomness of the flavor experience here. The ambiance is as cute as the food is confusing. I love the anxiety of taking risks and the possibility of raking in big wins; in this regard Winona's is a gambler's delight. This time around, we hit the jackpot on the beef cheeks. Tender, supple meat over mashed potatoes with a delicious gravy and perfectly cooked carrots. My dinner companion was sweet on the crispy duck fat potatoes as well. The citrus and escarole salad was delicious and I appreciated how they seasoned and charred the greens. However, there were risks that didn't pay off... Firstly the trout crudo. This dish's best aspect was the beet purée because it masked the fishy aftertaste. Maybe I just don't appreciate raw trout and that's on me?The pasta was the hand we should never have played. It reminded me of what a 5 year old might whip up on Chopped on a mushy food challenge. I will take accountability for my misplaced faith that Winona's might make the most random combination of ingredients I've ever seen come together. Ricotta cheese, broccoli pesto, overly vinegary brussels sprouts, pomegranate seeds, and flabby lasagne noodles atop a butternut squash purée and a complete lack of salt. Perhaps this dish was formulated to please vegetarians with low standards. We played with the pasta instead of eating it and that experience was actually pretty fun. Thank you Winona's for the entertainment. It is a testament to the restaurant's friendly and attentive service that they inquired about our enjoyment of each dish given how much we didn't eat. They comped us a drink and dessert, a win that helped make up for the major loss on the random pasta (the rum budino was a push).Anyway, if you wanna take the safe route, I'd recommend coming for apps and drinks only, unless you're down for a pricey hit-or-miss journey.
