We were seated at a table that had something on my chair and the fringe of the decorative top tablecloth had food stains. We asked to change the decorative top and she said to change tables. So we did. I got the lentil soup, grilled halloumi, and the red snapper. We drank Pellegrino. I didn't like that the glasses were plastic. The soup was good. Very much a tomato base. The halloumi was a bit salty. I had the red snapper and my friend got the sea bass. Neither were impressed with the fish. Place was pretty empty when we started. Nice decor. Good service. A quiet oasis in the city.

My experience was delightful! Forget the usual NYC hustle-bustle, this spot was warm and inviting from the get-go. From the moment I walked in, I felt welcomed by the warm and inviting vibe. The decor is a perfect mix of modern and rustic. Think whitewashed walls, olive trees (because, duh, Mediterranean), and lighting that's perfect for a fancy, yet comfy, night out. The bar area is super sleek and chic. The service was fantastic. The staff is friendly and attentive. They're always there to make sure your glass is full and your food is coming along well. The menu is all about Mediterranean flavors, and it didn't disappoint. We started with a mix of the spreads. All of them were good but the Circassian Chicken was a game-changer. It was rich, flavorful, and absolutely delicious. The pita bread? This was no average grocery store sadness. It was warm and perfectly seasoned, begging to be dipped into the delicious "mezzes". For my main course, I went with the mixed grill. The portion might not have been huge, but every bite was an explosion of flavor. The rice on the side? Delicious and it was the perfect side piece to the perfectly cooked meats. Every detail, from the fresh bread to the beautiful plating, screamed "Chef has serious skills."Sure, White Olive isn't cheap. But, for Manhattan, it's mid-range and worth it for a special occasion. You'll be rewarded by the quality of the food, service, ambiance, and attention to detail. If you're in the mood for some delicious Mediterranean food with excellent service in Midtown, you've got to check out White Olive. Trust me, you won't be disappointed!

Came here for a really fun work dinner with colleagues- Baba (I'm not even sure what his name is- I think he's the manager but the man was seriously doing it all- taking orders, serving, recommending drinks, welcoming folks at the front door) was the MVP of the night, and I think a lot of the fun from this dinner was thanks to him.Decor/Ambiance- very cute aesthetic with white walls, olive branches and nice lighting, very beach-y. Service- outstanding. Drink orders were prompt, lots of great explanations about the food (as we had some folks with dietary restrictions) and just so attentive and warm. One of my dairy-free coworkers had specifically asked for a dish without dairy- while it did come out with the dairy product, it was promptly whisked back and made anew.Food- spectacular spread! Baba gave us a lot of great recommendations and we were able to try delicious mezze, grilled shrimp, beef lollipops (a surprise favorite!), grilled halloumi, and more. For my entree, I ordered the grilled octopus (tender chunks of grilled octopus in a bechamel/eggplant puree) that came out on a sizzling plate, and I gobbled up every last bite.I especially recommend this place if you have a folks with different dietary restrictions as well as different tastes- the servers will make sure to make the appropriate recommendations and really make sure everyone has a great time.

The restaurant is pretty and the staff is very nice. We had good service and were treated well. However, the food had no flavor and was ridiculously overpriced for what it was. Additionally, the restaurant does not have a restroom in the dining area, you need to walk into the hotel lobby and the restroom leaves a lot to be desired. There are much better Mediterranean restaurants in the city, save your money.

This was such a great find! Ambiance: The restaurant was beautiful! So perfectly decorated and such attention to detail. They have beautiful foliage and twinkle lights. The dishware and glassware matches perfectly with the theme of the restaurant. They also have really cute serving ware that enhances the dining experience. Food: Food was so good! The pita bread was perfectly cooked and came out fresh and hot. It had some really nice seasoning on it too. We ordered the 4 mezze deal and all 4 of the mezzes were excellent. It is really hard to pick one favorite so I'd say the two I loved the most were the White Olive Spicy Ezme and the Htipiti. We also got the Tzatziki and the Melitzanosalata and they were also really good. I will say that the White Olive Spicy Ezme is something unique that I haven't found at any of the other Mediterranean restaurants we've been to in the city. We also good the salad and it had so many different fresh vegetables and the dressing was well seasoned. The Halloumi cheese was also a personal favorite. It was seasoned with capers and other veggies and a vinaigrette that added the perfect level of acidity. Service: The service was good, very friendly. It was a bit slow though. Price: The restaurant is on the higher end of prices but I wouldn't say it's unreasonable considering the portion sizes. Additional Bonus: The restaurant is on Seated so we got cash for dining there :) If you don't used the Seated app, I highly recommend it as a NYC diner. When you download it, get $10 if you use the code: Forum1

3.5/5. Food was decent, but service was subpar. I think they were understaffed as we had to call someone over each time we needed anything. As for the food, we ordered lentil soup, crab cakes, pita/dip, salmon, and lobster pasta. I recommend the lentil soup for sure! Crab cakes were ok, wouldn't order again. The lobster pasta was good, nice pieces of lobster in it, but the pasta itself was fairly bland and could've used more flavor.

Dropped in after an event nearby. Quiet, convenient location with cozy street level dining area and bar. Food was outstanding from grilled octopus, salmon, baklava, tapenade and much more!Restaurant was half full but quiet. We had a wonderful conversation with couple next to us and left thinking we should return soon.

Eating here is a unique experience. While dining about 85% of the population walking by were curiously peeking in. You can't blame them, White Olive is decorated beautifully. There are a few reasons why I would recommend you coming here: The service is very good. Alé waited on my friend and I and was very honest about his lack of knowledge in creating some cocktails (mixologist was out that day) but proceeded to make excellent drinks and share great stories while being humble about it. We enjoyed the crab cakes, tzatziki, lobster pasta and Branzino. The tzatziki + pita was my favorite choice of all. It was light and incredibly seasoned. Please come here if you love olives, and if you don't you, will definitely fall in love with something else on the menu.

Last night, we visited White Olive for the second time, having reserved a table for Valentine's Day. They took us to the back room, and we initially thought it was a special, better table. However, the lighting and design of the back room were completely off and didn't compare to the main dining area, which has a street view.We ordered four mezze dishes, but the menu items, presentation, and taste were drastically different from our previous visit. Last time, the dips were delicious and beautifully presented. Unfortunately, none of the dips this time lived up to those standards (you can see the difference in the photo). We also ordered a chicken piccata--it was okay, but not nearly the same quality as before. Even the service wasn't as good as our first experience. We had loved this place the first time, which is why we chose it for Valentine's Day, but this time we were really disappointed.
