I finally made it to Wenwen this weekend. I was going to be in the area and made myself a reservation to sit at the bar. This was the move. Between Valentines Day and a long Presidents Day weekend the restaurant was very crowded and they couldn't accommodate walk-ins [LOL to the party of 7 thinking they could walk-in]. The hostess, though, was extremely kind to everyone and friendly to me. The portions at Wenwen are on the larger side. I had the numbing celtuce salad [$14], which really lives up to its name. It wasn't very spicy but there was a bit of a kick to it and I'm assuming the "numbing" sensation comes from the sichuan peppercorn. I also had the beef noodle soup [$21] which was really what I needed on a cold, rainy day. It gave me life. The beef shank was so tender, it fell apart in my mouth. The broth was super flavorful and complex. I actually finished the whole thing. Sadly, I skipped on dessert as I was pretty full.I had the Pink Venom [$18], which is a vodka based drink with lychee. It's pretty fizzy. It wasn't my favorite but it was nonetheless tasty. I have to say, the bathroom is something to behold with its disco ball and all around party vibe. I'd recommend checking it out even if you don't have to go.$67 after tax and tip.

The hype about this restaurant is absolutely worth it. Go ahead and book that reservation so you won't have to wait for a table. The food and drinks were so delicious and the staff was so helpful and friendly. Beatrice gave the best recommendation and service. She made our experience wonderful.Jay Chou mojito was my favorite drink. The Sacha Hot Honey Popcorn Chicken was so good. I also loved the Shrimp Floss Lettuce Cups. If you like a little spice then you need to get the Beef Fat Chili Oil Noodle. This is going to be one of my new favorites spots.

Came here on a recommendation from a friend and overall was a very satisfying experience. I liked that the place had two floors for seating, since my party ended up sitting in the bottom level and we got quite a bit of space.Food wise, we just missed out on the BDSM chicken but we got the popcorn chicken to make up for it, which was a solid rendition of Taiwanese fried chicken. We also got the peashoots (nothing noteworthy to call out) and the numbing celtuce salad to round out the appetizers. I don't think celtuce is widely eaten in America, but growing up with southeast Chinese parents I ate it pretty often, and this version of it with the numbing peppercorn and tangy sauce was the best variation I've had and my favorite dish of the night.Rounding out the meal we had the sesame noodles which were good with a nice noodle texture and smooth savory sauce, then finished with the pork jowl fried rice which was tasty but a bit heavy.

Food 9/10Solid Taiwanese food. 卤肉饭 was so gas and the portions were quite large too. The shrimp toast was also very unique, I liked the consistency of the shrimp inside paired with the crispy crunch of the exterior. The popcorn chicken was also quite a delight, with the right amount of seasoning that makes you want to keep on eating more. Atmosphere 9/10Plenty of natural lighting in the restaurant, with a good number of seats. I thought the menu was super cute too. Service 9/10Friendly!

3.5/5Came here at around 2 on a weekend with my boyfriend. We made a reservation so we got seated right away. The restaurant was around 90% filled when we got there. We got a few things to share: stuffed shrimp toast, popcorn chicken, beef noodle soup, and Lo ba beng (which is braised pork belly with rice)We really liked the stuffed shrimp toast. It was very crispy and not heavy at all. The flavor of the popcorn chicken was good but some of the chicken was a little dry. Both of the entree was only okay. While the beef in the beef noodle soup was very tender, the whole dish was a bit under-seasoned and needed more salt. I like runny egg yolk with rice normally but the egg yolk to rice ratio in the Lo ba beng was off to me. There was just way too much egg yolk and I could barely taste anything else.Food came out fast and service was pretty good. It was a good one time experience but I don't think I will come back unless I'm already in the area.

Great ambiance at a place that feels both new and old. Their menu has all the typical Taiwanese dishes you would expect and they are cooked to perfection. I'm not Taiwanese but a friend of mine is and he said it feels like a family meal when you come to wenwen.Service was pretty fast and they have a great bar so if you want to go out and drink a few cocktails while eating some appetizers that's definitely doable at wenwen.Definitely recommend the popcorn chicken!

If you're craving authentic Taiwanese cuisine, this place is an absolute gem! Each dish is expertly crafted, bursting with fresh ingredients. The beef noodle soup is a standout --the broth is rich and deeply flavorful, with (generous) tender slices of beef that melt in your mouth. The braised pork rice is another must-try, with perfectly seasoned pork and a satisfying, comforting aroma. The service was great and the ambiance was hip! Theres 2 areas for seating -main floor ad a sub basement. The sub basement lacks cell service and a bit tight/intimate.

BDSM chicken is a must. Very tender meat, crispy skin, and an amazing spicy crust that hits all the notes. Complement this with pea shoots +tofu skin , cold celtuce w numbing spice for veggies. There was a steak noodle dish special which we opted for, but wish we got something else (maybe a second chicken?? ).The steak was grilled medium rare, but quite tough and sinewy. The thick noodles were nice and chewy, but quickly congealed under the steak grease. Liked the idea, but maybe needs another iteration (or different cut of meat).Definitely finish with the tangyuan dessert - deep fried tangyuan (mochi balls) with molten black sesame paste curbed by some ice cream. Topped with peanuts and cilantro - seriously a creative twist on a traditional dessert.Apart from the steak noodles, would definitely be back to get the BDSM chicken. Honestly, if they've run out of chicken for the day, I would consider skipping until another time.

Dined here for brunch! Have heard great things and I love Taiwanese food.My friend and I split the BDSM chicken sandwich ($24) and the Lo ba beng ($18). Had a nice brunch time; we were in and out within 60 minutes - the food came out quickly. It got crowded FAST. The space is a bit small so we were close to our dining neighbors, but not enough so that we could overhear conversations, which was good.I enjoyed the lo ba beng! It was sooo good! For the mandarin speakers, it's their lurou fan dish. I love those pickled mustard greens. And the sunny side egg was a great addition to add a little extra to the rice. The chicken meat within the sandwich was good, but I didn't fall in love with the sandwich. The bun to chicken ratio seemed high and I personally wished there was more of the "SzeDaddy Mayo" (lol). But otherwise the meal was great. I'd come again for dinner :D

They only serve 5 bdsm chickens a day so we got a 5pm reservation to make sure we could get one. It was great flavor and our table loved it, but wouldn't need to go out of the way to get it again. Popcorn chicken was really tender, chili noodles were really good and a huge dish that also comes with a lot of beef, and friends were raving about the dessert.Good at establishing allergens on the menu but don't really modify.
