Lobster Noodles! omg a must! I absolutely love their lobster noodles. The sharing plate concept works well as the portion sizes are shareable. The service is good and the staff is very attentive and knowledgable about the menu items. The ambiance matches the Indonesian theme of the restaurant. Other standouts for me is their Kopi cocktail, spring rolls, scallop satays, and crab fried rice. Pro tip: ask to sit at the chef's counter.

Nice ambience, a bit loud. Would it preferred to sit in the front as that seemed quieter, but there is a lot of seating in the back. Started off with the scallop - Great buttery sauce, well seared scallop, and juicy. Then we got the Hamachi, very flavorful and light. The grilled Bronzino had a nice flavor, good, good tomato covering with broccolini underneath, juicy fish that has been deboned, with a line sauce underneath. We also got the corn fritters, which were crispy and the unique side. We added on the brussels sprouts but honestly, that was probably not worth it.Overall, great service (refilling water) nice atmosphere, great food, just be warned pricey for the portion size. Large plates are not that large.

French Indonesian food? Interesting combo...but yolo!I can't say that I LOVED our meal here, but I'm glad I tried something new. I unfortunately did not like the cocktails we tried, and the offerings are a bit too obscure for my liking. Items I enjoyed were the Sweet Potatoes, Vegetable Spring Rolls, and Corn Fritters. The Veggie Noodles were decent but lacking and the Eggplant was delicious but just a tad too spicy. For dessert, I was very disappointed that the cookie was hyped up by the waitress and then we were later told that they didn't have it. We tried the Pandan Custard, Banana Sundae, and Chocolate Ganache - the Chocolate Ganache was my favorite out of the 3.The thing that upset me the most was the service - we were brought out our dessert and told that our time (hour and a half) was up and that the next reservation was waiting, so we were extremely rushed and it felt very uncomfortable. It was not our fault that the food came out in weird increments.I appreciated trying a new cuisine, but I don't think I would come back.

Went to Wayan a few nights ago, had a 5:30 reservation which I recommend because it is small and it gets busy. We purposefully chose to sit at the kitchen bar so we could watch the meals be prepared. We liked that it was a little bit out of the way and less busy.We were greeted by our server who stated normally people order 2 to 3 items off the menu each, to share. This sounded like a lot to me but what ever. We ordered a round of drinks. I don't remember the name of mine but boy, was it good. It had kiwi, horseradish, vodka and I forget what else. If I had finished both of them I probably would have been on the floor. The server had some recommendations on what to order and went to get our drinks. We ordered the following: 1 Montauk Shrimp Satay (which is 5 pieces of shrimp), octopus a la plancha, lobster noodles and one side Eggplant Balado. Out of the 4 items , only one was suggested to by our server (lobster noodles), I mention this because when we told him what we wanted, he visibly disapproved. He was rather pushy about our choices and seemed to want us to change them, and order more. We both took to be rather rude. I have never had this happen before and this was not appreciated. I don't know if the supervisors try to get the servers to upsell, but we had plenty of food and wee not hungry. For this I minus a star. The food is the star. It is excellent. Plenty of flavor, nice amount of spice, just the right amount of kick. My favorites were the lobster and the octopus. The space is cute and thees a nice ambiance. The bathrooms are nice too.

So good! Hands down one of my favorite restaurants in NYC, I came here for lunch with a friend and we shared a chicken satay bowl, a papaya salad, and the Pandan French toast and each item was fantastic. The papaya-pear salad had so much flavor and paired with the hot sauce they give you, it was flavorful, refreshing and complex at the same time. The chicken satay bowl was also delicious, with crispy rice, peanut sauce coated grilled chicken, and veggies with corn fritters; I have to come back for this bowl cause it was everything I wanted in one. The French toast with grilled pineapple wasn't too sweet and was so moist with all the milk it almost reminded me of a grilled tres leches, which was so good. It came with a pandan/kaya jam that was perfection. I have to come back for dinner since this meal was unforgettable.

I don't say this lightly - this place is awesome. Very cool space, phenomenal food. The only possible complaint I could have is that it is on the pricier side for smaller portions, but it's worth it. One of my top spots in the city

Two of us came on Sunday 1pm and there were plenty of tables. Tried Thai Diner first but it was a 40 min wait.We tried:Escargot again: still a great fusion dish.Lobster noodles: this was disappointing. The noodles had the texture of instant noodles and the taste profile was an earthy one which itself was good but thought it overpowered the Lobster. Didn't get much of a seafood taste from this.Nasi Gila: a brunch style fried rice. The sausage in this was good. Overall fine, but not a must get.

Came here right at opening with my coworkers for a team lunch so we ordered and sampled a lot of food. The food was absolutely delicious, would definitely recommend! We ordered a variety of dishes and honestly, there wasn't one that I didn't like. If I had to pick favorites though, I'd say the most interesting ones were the chicken satay, octopus and lobster noodles. The chicken satay was just really well done, perfectly tender and the sauce was very flavorful. Octopus is definitely a gamble at places, but Wayan does it really well so worth getting here! It's crispy on the outside but it's not weirdly chewy on the inside, it has a really nice texture. Then of course there's the lobster noodles that they're know for, this was really interesting because you could taste the European style garlic butter flavors on the ramen noodles which is just not what I expected (but really good!), and they gave pretty generous portions of lobster in the noodles. Staff was super friendly, although the restaurant was pretty dead and empty on a weekday lunch. Would definitely recommend this place!

Wayan is an Indonesian French fusion cuisine that is worth a try, especially for a special occasion! Service was great, and the inside is dimly lit and intimate. That being said, it's of course on the expensive side. Personally, I liked the appetizers and sides we ordered a lot better than the mains. The pork ribs were way too dry, and lobster noodles were great but nothing special. I would like to try crab fried rice next time. Meanwhile, I am a big fan of the gado gado and the corn fritters!!

Cute date night and I had a cute date so I can't complain. I liked the vibes of this - very warmly lit, intimate and felt very special. We ordered what was popular but I think I really enjoyed the skewers and the creativity of the dishes. We did make a reservation but it wasn't super busy when we went (seems we were lucky).I don't remember exactly what we ordered but I do remember thinking it was flavorful and beautifully presented. I had great time.
