Ok this place is TOTALLY worth the hype. Lovely restaurant-- very bright ambiance-- with friendly service. I walked in around noon on a weekday and was able to snag a seat in the bar.- Arancini: 100/10 (yummmm! Love how there's a spicy kick to it-- really cuts through the grease.)- Cacio e peppe: 100/10 (I'm usually not a Cacio e peppe fan but ofc I had to get it here because there's so much hype around that dish. This is literally the BEST Cacio e peppe I've ever had!! Soo creamy and flavorful and the pepper gives a nice kick to the dish.)I'll definitely be back to try out their salads and other pasta/risotto dishes next time!

Solid Italian spot with good food, good service, and cozy vibes.Stopped by on a cold Saturday at around 5:30 pm to put our names down on the waitlist. It's always a crapshoot on what time you'll get-- I think generally you'll be seated pretty shortly if you arrive around 4 pm, but who wants to eat then? Probably waiting until 4:45 - 5 pm would be what gets you the prime dinner time. There was a line to put names down which was a little annoying since it was cold. Once we did, we were quoted a seating at the bar around 9 pm.There's lots of other bars you can kill time at in the area, but my friend and I opted to head to her apartment to wait it out. Got the text that our table was ready around 8:10 pm and arrived back at the restaurant at 8:25 pm. The table wasn't actually ready, but after waiting another 10 minutes we were seated at the bar.For food we ordered:- Cacio e Pepe: This was so good! The pasta was the perfect texture and the creaminess+pepper really hit. I would order this pasta again- Ragu Pappardelle: A solid pasta, great to get a different sauce. Personally I'm not the biggest pappardelle fan so I'd probably skip it again but as the only red sauce on the menu is a very solid and delicious option.- Castelfranco: So good! Huge salad, a little bit bitter, and a whole lot of complexity. The salads are not to be slept on.- Polpette: Solid, giant meatballs but honestly nothing that blew my mind. It's well executed and we wanted a carne, but honestly next time I'll probably just order another salad. It was the perfect amount to share in my opinion and we left very full! We also each got a cocktail that was pretty solid (a select spritz for me, a negroni for my friend). I'd definitely come back if a friend wanted to check this place out.

Walked in on a Wednesday during lunch and was immediately seated to my surprise. Friends and I placed an order for a couple of their pastas and their infamous leafy salad. Highlights definitely include the salad, the Cacio Pepe is in fact that good and it's a must order, and I was also pleasantly impressed by the arancini which were fantastic. If I ever get a chance to come here again I'll definitely be indulging in their Cacio Pepe. Taylor swift was really onto something with this one!

I met a friend at this West Village osteria for lunch. Chris is a foodie, like me. Truth be told, he edited cookbooks for Rizzoli. I knew right away that I liked the place - lovely, airy and very Florentine! We were lucky to get a table without reservations! The food and service was amazing! So delicious! We started with a salad with anchovies and shared the mushrooms and smoked cheese and had the rigatoni with beef. Yummy! He had Nebbiolo and I had a Gran Classico spritz. We had espresso after so we can continue to work in the afternoon!

Good Italian spot. Very hard to get a reservation but on a good day, pretty easy to walk in to get a bar spot with minimal wait. The Cacio e Pepe is really good. I am not a fan of the noodle choice, but the rich cheesy flavor is there with a nice prominent kick from the black pepper. They had an amazing special of Iberico pork ribs / chop on our visit. The pork was extraordinarily tender and flavourful (Iberico is the wagyu of pork). The sauce was subtly sweet and rich from the pork fat and prosciutto. A special pork dish indeed! The burrata was standard, more savory than the other burrata I've had. The bruschetta special was just ok too. The tiramisu was also kind of disappointing. The cream tasted like just cream, it lacked the subtle sweetness and tang that I was expecting with mascarpone.

We came here as a group of 5 on a Thursday night. Despite my best efforts, I was not able to get us a reservation, but after putting our names on the list we were able to be seated around 7:30. Our table was in a lovely private dining space in the back which made it easy for our group to visit but it lacked the spirit of being in the main dining room. Cocktails and wine arrived promptly and service was attentive throughout the evening. For dinner we ordered the insalta verde, carote, faioli all' uccelletto, tonnarelli, pappardelle, truffle pasta special and pork chop special. I had been looking forward to trying Via Carota for a long time and I was honestly underwhelmed. The pasta was good, but not great and the pork chop was so rich that I couldn't take more than a couple of bites. The carrots, in my opinion, were on the overcooked side and lacked pizzaz. Favorite dishes were the cannellini beans with sausage, the green salad and the tiramisu for dessert. Good Italian restaurant but not worth the hassle of trying to get a table.

Excellent! I will go again!Friday night 5pm- 30-40 min wait for a bar seat. No worries it's Friday night . Host was polite and very welcoming. Got a bar seat- bartender very polite- made an excellent whiskey sour. I ordered the arancini- yummy! The Brussels sprouts shaved salad- excellent- I ate every bite, but in hindsight wished I would've saved room for the pasta. Since it was my first time here, I felt obligated to get the caico e pepe which did not disappoint!!!! All of it was excellent. I was too full to try dessert but I'll definitely go again. The parpadelle ragu looked amazing, as did some of the other vegetable dishes.

This place is.... surprise! Overhyped! Relieved my wait was so short since I'm not sure it would have been worth much longer.Sunday afternoon - put my name down for indoor dining at 4:26, got texted at 4:38 and sped back to the restaurant. My friend and I sat at the communal table, but thankfully the seats immediately next to us were blocked out.The restaurant is quite cozy, exposed brick, homey kind of vibe. Most tables appeared to be outfitted for groups of 4+ and were placed a bit close to each other - typical space deficit in West Village. The bar seating looked pretty inviting.Food was good not great. Cacio e pepe was supposed to blow me away but it was just... fine. Not offensive with the cheese or the pepper, but just quite mild and forgettable. The butternut squash tortelli was doused in a buttery sauce, and it tasted good but felt quite simple. My favorite dish was the tiramisu, which was light and not too sweet (for a tiramisu). There's an extensive negroni menu here and I heard good things about it; the negroni rosa I sipped on was enjoyable but not a standout, and I could go without it next time. The vegetable dishes may be worthwhile here so I would try those; they just seemed quite pricey so we glossed over them.Service was ok. On occasion we couldn't figure out where our server went. Additionally, there was some mini workstation immediately behind me where small plates temporarily sat, so waiters continuously bumped against the back of my chair while moving through that area.Total after tax/tip was around $65 for one drink, one pasta, and half a dessert, per person. If I went in not knowing about the hype surrounding this place, I would have concluded that this is yet another Italian restaurant not much better than others in the city. A major part of the experience here is the excitement of just being able to get in. I would consider going back if lines ease up (which they probably won't) but if you haven't been here yet, don't despair - you're not missing out.

We were able to walk in a little after they opened on a weekday and got seated immediately. This place is obviously very hyped up, so I moderated my expectations. We ordered the arancini, cacio e pepe, and the tagliatelle. Arancini was fine - I liked that they had bits of spicy pork in it since the flavor of creamy rice gets monotonous but it still needed something sharp to give it a kick flavor-wise. Cacio e pepe was a let down; I didn't think the noodles were particularly al dente and it was way too salty. I much prefer the cacio e pepe at L'Artusi. The flavors in the tagliatelle were more interesting but it was also way too salty, especially if the bite had prosciutto in it. The proscuitto was also clumped together at the top which made it difficult to eat. Servers were very attentive with refilling our water, but I felt like we got forgotten towards the end of the meal and we had to flag someone down for the check. Overall this meal was a sodium bomb - glad I tried this place out but will not be coming back personally.

After hearing all the hype about this place, I was very excited to try it myself! We walked in on a weekday for lunch and got seated immediately with no wait. I thought the pastas were solid, but nothing to write home about. I especially liked the lemon risotto -- I thought it was very special and captured the essence of Italy. I definitely want to come back next time and try out some other pastas and some of their greens, which I think they're known for! The restaurant itself is quite charming, and the area is super cute to walk around in.Overall, it was a solid meal, but I'm not sure I would go through the effort of waiting or scrambling to book a reservation!
