This is a great late night place on the Upper East Side. I like the atmosphere of the place, which is dark with mood lighting, and it always seems full. Service has always been great too. There are several vegetarian options on the menu, which is always appreciated! Last time I went, my husband and I split the pesto pasta and the eggplant pasta - both of which were very good! I preferred the eggplant pasta, and he preferred the pesto! I have also had the eggplant appetizer here and the antipasto plate - good to share. I also liked that they had two mocktails on their menu. I tried the one based on the moscow mule, which was good, and I would order it again. I will definitely be coming back

I'll start off by saying that the atmosphere in the place is a lot of fun. Towards the front of the restaurant it feels like everyone is in a house or dining room just hanging out and having a good time with dark wood covering the entire room, towards the back it's taking you to an enclosed outside area where there are a bunch a plants and it's a bit lighter and almost feels like you are outside or in a greenhouse. The service was great! The waiters were sociable and everything got refilled quickly and our food was served really fast. The food on the other hand really just lacked a lot of punch to it. On the surface everything we had was prepared fine, the textures were there, the plating was great, but the depth of flavor wasn't there. Everything was one note, it didn't have any seasoning to it, every dish was screaming for salt. The beet gnocchi in a Gorgonzola sauce just tasted of cream and couldn't tell it even had blue cheese in it. The atmosphere is a lot of fun like I said so I could see myself coming to have drinks in the future!

Whenever I visit NYC, UVA is the first thing on my itinerary! Located in the Upper East Side, UVA is perfect for delicious Italian food and a cozy atmosphere. The prices are moderate yet affordable for the quality of food and dining atmosphere. The brickwork and warm lighting made it especially appealing at Christmastime. While visiting this time, I tried the Mezzelune Boscaiola (mushroom and prosciutto ravioli) which was creamy and savory. My friends tried the penne pomodoro and the gnocchi di ricotta. Normally, I get the gnocchi - and you should too! It is perfectly chewy and rich. The service was speedy yet personal - we were in a bit of time crunch to make our next cocktail reservation and they accommodated perfectly! I'd recommend UVA to anyone who calls New York City home or to anyone visiting!

Uva is great. It's a solid italian spot in the UES. My personal favorite here is the duck, but their pastas are quite delicious as well. The gnocchi isn't my favorite, but I also don't have any strong complaints about it. The staff here is amazing as well. We actually did our wedding rehearsal dinner here and they have a great private space that can fit up to 30 people. We had a preselected menu that everyone LOVED and the service was truly spectacular. In terms of pricing, I did a lot of research for large groups and Uva was a very fairly priced option. All in all, whether for a private event or a casual dinner, i highly recommend Uva to everyone. It's truly a UES staple!

Uva is cozy but luckily has a lot of seating because it's always busy! The menu is slightly small with mainly pasta options, but I've enjoyed every dish I've had here. I especially like the Chicken Paillard!!

I found myself at Uva the other night for an educational dinner. While steakhouses are usually the go-to for hosting these things, occasionally other cuisines some through so I was excited for the change. A couple of my colleagues had been to Uva before with good things to say, so I was excited to learn something and check out the food for myself. Meaning 'grape' in Italian, Uva serves Italian food. As soon as I walked in, I was feeling the vibe. It's a narrow space, but the dark woods and dim lights gave it a really intimate feel. We were seated downstairs in a private room where these aesthetics continued. The place was also bustling which added to the overall exciting feel of the restaurant. Similar to other educational programs I've been to, we were given a prix fixe menu in lieu of ordering off the main one. We started by choosing between two salads and eggplant rollatini. I decided on one of the salads that was paired with walnuts, gorgonzola, and pear. It was pretty good and the light dressing kept me from getting too full. For mains, we were able to choose from a couple of pastas, some seafood dishes, and short ribs. I decided to get the gnocchi di ricotta; this was pretty good - the sauce was creamy but not too heavy and it had good flavor. For dessert we were served family style strawberries with mascarpone and chocolate "salami" which was kinda like a chocolate roll with cookies in the middle aimed to look like the fat in salami. Both were fine.In retrospect, I do have some grievances with Uva, but since some of these choices may have been in the hands of the host I can't blame the restaurant entirely. In terms of food, it was pretty good - nothing blew me away but it wasn't bad. I just really felt skimped out in several ways: we weren't served any bread baskets, there was no offer for soft drinks, and the portion sizes were small. My colleague who had been here on her own accord previously said the gnocchi portion was definitely bigger in the past. Also, they didn't offer shaved truffles like I saw in some of the pics. Finally, the desserts were clumsy and messy to handle family style. Overall, Uva was just okay. Again, these choices may have been in the hands of the host, I'm just stating observations based on my experience. I stand by my 3 star rating since the food itself was just fine to me. I would be willing to return to see if an experience on my own differs, but I'm not necessarily running back.

UVA is a cozy, inviting neighborhood gem on the Upper East Side, offering delicious Italian cuisine. I always start with the pancetta or soppressata--both are exceptional! The pasta dishes never disappoint, but the standout is the ricotta gnocchi, served in a decadent black truffle and chive sauce--creamy, flavorful, and unforgettable. Another must-try is the melanzane alla parmigiana, a comforting eggplant parmesan reminiscent of lasagna, but lighter and just as satisfying. With its warm ambiance and top-notch food, UVA is the perfect spot for date nights and great vibes!

Was excited to try Uva out as it's one of the UES favorites for Italian food, but I thought it was just okay. I made a reservation beforehand just in case and we were seated promptly. By the way, the service here is amazing - I saw a customer holding a drink and the waiter offered to hold it for them and bring it to their seat in the short walk which was so kind of them.I ordered the Gnocchi Di Ricotta and I thought it was okay. The gnocchi was very dense and towards the middle of each pasta, it was hard to taste the flavors. The sauce also wasn't particularly memorable or had a lot of truffle flavor. I think the Trader Joe's truffle cheese crisps had a bigger emphasis on truffles than this dish. I did appreciate that I felt incredibly full afterwards.Overall, okay eat at Uva. Maybe next time I come, I will just order red sauce pastas instead.
