This place has solid sushi for the price. You'd easily spend twice as much for sushi of this quality at other places. I was able to walk in without a reservation on a Sunday evening. The restaurant has a cozy vibe and it only seats a handful of tables. The staff were super attentive and food came quickly. I ordered some sake, a cucumber salad, and a sushi deluxe dinner set. The sushi deluxe consisted of 10 pieces of nigiri and a spicy tuna roll and was only $26!! I wasn't the biggest fan of the cucumber salad (the dressing was a little too sweet for my taste) but I was pretty blown away by the sushi quality for the price. I appreciated that they gave a variety of fish types in the nigiri selection. The pieces are very big, but I felt quite full at the end of my meal. My only complaint is that I wish it was closer to my neighborhood so I could come here more often

Came here on a weeknight looking for some quick and causal sushi. This spot is small but very cute and cozy inside. There were lots of choices and the sushi came out fresh and delicious.

WE LOVE SUSHI! Sadly I have to give a 1star review. It may have been an off day- Friday, 2pm, Feb 23, 2024. Try for yourself- maybe things will become better after I write this. This teeny tiny hole in the wall, enchanted us and charmed us to come in. It can seat about 10 people. We thought we were lucky to find such a place. There were two other couples inside, so we felt safe going in. One couple seemed like regulars... It seemed like they sat there all day, talking about business and drinking tea. It's a quirky seating situation - with benches pressed smack against the wall - bring your good posture! Haha! Stacked dishes and odds n ends occupy one table so that leaves few choices to pick from. The waitress was NY style - not rude, but also not friendly. She seemed too busy for us. Didn't like to be bothered with questions. The sad part is, a few hours later, we all went to Times Square for a show... and my daughter got sick and threw up everywhere from the sushi. It's all she had eaten all day. Our last meal the night before was at 6pm. It was positively the sushi. She threw up all over her new Ugg boots, her dress. She was on her hands and knees in her stockings, in Times Square throwing up! Poor girl. It was the most embarrassing moment ever for her. We were really lucky that a lot of people rushed to help her. She had to skip the show, (there goes mom's money... that would be me!) I put her in a cab with a plastic bag to try to make it home without throwing up. She threw up all night long in our hotel room. It was miserable.?We were supposed to fly out the next morning, but I was nervous that she wouldn't be able to. (There goes more money!!) After she got all the sushi out of her, she felt fine, just tired from having been up all night throwing up. We made it back home to Washington. It was a good reminder to pick your sushi place very very carefully. Maybe coming at an odd hour, 2 PM, going to a very small place, wasn't the best idea for us. I ate the Hamachi and was just fine. My girlfriend ate the California roll and tuna roll and was also just fine. My daughter ate the eel and the prawns tempura and got really sick. Maybe it was the oil??? I would never want to blame a restaurant, for something that I didn't believe was true. My daughter hadn't eaten anything else... not even breakfast, and got sick three hours after eating here. I didn't take more pictures... but this is my daughter and my friend.

REALLY good sushi and an even better lunch special. You get 2 rolls for $12.95 and 10 pieces of sashimi for $15 plus miso soup. Super quick service and the place is really cute inside. It's a really small spot but we were able to get seated right away, although, we did go at 2:30 on a Wednesday. Highly recommend this spot!

A casual place for some great sushi!Definitely a missable hole in wall but once you walk in it's very cutely decorated with attentive servers throughout. I ordered a glass of plum wine with a regular sashimi plate and for $31 it was not bad pricing at all! The fish is fresh, the rice is well cooked and the plum wine is delightful. My favorite piece though was the tuna though, normally I am not a ginger fan but, they added just enough ginger and scallion to add a little something something to the fish without overwhelming it.Overall, would definitely recommend for takeout or a solo sushi date on your own!

Cute spot for great sushi. It might not look like much but umami sushi has great sashimi and rolls. The fish all tasted high quality and the plating was great. Service was very quick and kind. I didn't seen the spicy tuna roll on the menu except in the combination section, but they were able to accommodate my order but letting me order it off the combo without making it an actual combo. The eel was soooo good I'm already thinking about when I'll be going back again to have it. Next time I have to try the crispy rice topped with spicy tuna!

This is a small, cute neighborhood sushi restaurant. There are only a few tables, but the service is fast and the tables turn over quickly. They also take reservations. The sushi is fresh and flavorful.I have tried several of their signature rolls and liked all of them:* Sunfire Roll (snow crab, cucumber, mango, and avocado)* Dynamai Roll (baked scallops, shiitake, and torched masago mayo)* Salmon Special Roll (spicy salmon tempura, raw salmon, and salmon roe)* Niji Roll (California Roll with different types of raw fish)I kept on eyeing what others ordered, as there were some other really fun rolls. I guess I will just have to come back.

West Village sushi spot only half filled with what looked like NYU coeds on the evening we visited. Easy seating on a busy Saturday night made us a little concerned. Tiny tables with dusty ledges and window sills, very 1970's NY vibe. Ordered the sushi sashimi for 3 since we were hungry. Didn't come with miso soup or salad :( but the selection of sashimi and sushi was fresh and "umami" :) No premium items like uni, ebi botan, scallops or toro, just the standard tuna, yellowtail, salmon, avocado and imitation crab. With so many very good sushi sashimi restaurants in NYC, though not notable, this place was passable for no-frills sushi. Below average value at about $150 for the sushi sashimi platter for 3 (perfectly portioned for 2 people) and a beer. One hit wonder.

Tiny neighborhood sushi place that barely seats 20 people. We came here on a whim and didn't have big expectations but it was actually really good!! Great sushi for the price, especially in Manhattan. We called ahead to ask about seat availability and they had a table saved for us -- rest of service was quick as well.

Food poising, beware. Me and another person I dined with both ordered salmon poke bowls and became violently ill hours later.
