I had the pleasure of visiting uluh with a group of friends recently, and it turned out to be a truly memorable dining experience. From the moment we walked in, we were captivated by the sleek, modern decor, which effortlessly balances elegance with a warm and inviting atmosphere. The East Village location couldn't be more convenient, surrounded by the vibrant energy of the neighborhood, making it an ideal spot to gather with friends or family. The menu at uluh is a masterpiece in itself, offering an innovative take on traditional Chinese cuisine that left all of us excited to try as much as possible. Among the standout dishes, the Shanghainese soup dumplings stole the show. Each delicate dumpling was perfectly crafted, with a thin, tender wrapper encasing a rich and flavorful broth that burst in your mouth with every bite. The savory, aromatic filling was a testament to the chef's attention to detail and mastery of flavor. To complement our meal, we explored uluh's extensive tea selection, which is thoughtfully curated with globally sourced options. The staff was incredibly knowledgeable and attentive, guiding us through the different varieties and helping us choose teas that paired beautifully with our dishes. Their recommendations elevated our dining experience even further, showcasing the restaurant's commitment to providing a well-rounded and immersive culinary journey. From start to finish, the service was impeccable. The staff was friendly, attentive, and always ready to ensure we had everything we needed. Whether you're looking for a casual night out or a special place to celebrate with loved ones, uluh is a true gem. I can't wait to return and explore even more of their creative, mouthwatering dishes!

Uluh is a modern Szechuan-style restaurant that offers a wide selection of dishes on their extensive menu. The interior is clean and spacious, with lighting that perfectly highlights the food on the tables. We made a reservation for a Friday night and were quickly seated. Our orders were taken just as quickly as the food arrived. For the food, we ordered:- Brown sugar peking duck (small): A MUST TRY! The duck skin was perfectly crispy, and the fatty layer was removed. The dish came with wraps and traditional condiments that went beautifully together.- Crab tofu: Delicious and mildly spicy. It paired so well with rice.- Stir-fried fatty beef with cilantro: While tasty, this dish wasn't that unique. It resembled hotpot beef- Black truffle pork soup dumplings: The dumplings were good though some shells had perforated upon serving, causing the soup to leak out. I also didn't really taste the truffle. - Sauteed string beans: Great choice, simple and satisfying.I also tried the rose oolong tea with cheese foam, and it was so delicious! I loved the combination of the subtle rose-flavored tea and salty cheese foam. Paired wonderfully with the entire meal. tldr; uluh is a solid choice for szechuan food with the peking duck as their standout dish. I'll definitely be back!

I had come here for lunch- nice interior but you can smell the intoxicating cardamom buns from La Cabra next door- makes you want dessert right away. Peking duck had a good dark meat and crispy skin ratio. A little pricey but a treat. Xiao long bao was pretty standard but delicate enough. Highly recommend the deboned pork trotters- good amount of heat. I also really enjoyed the Dan Dan noodles. Overall one of the better Chinese spots in nyc!

This place is very aesthetic and lively! I tried the following dishes:String beans and eggplant - this was my favorite, not very spicy but so flavorfulBraided pork belly - a classic dish, can't go wrong with it!Braised pork trotters - very yummy but spicy!Black truffle fried rice - can taste the truffle but did really wish it had other ingredients besides just rice and peas Spicy sichuan chicken - crispy, spicy numbing!Honestly all their dishes were very good and flavorful although I will say it's on the pricier side and were smaller portions. Good for a special occasion! The food was served pretty quickly and the waiters were very nice and frequently came around to refill our water.

Yummy spot with an elevated spin on some Chinese dishes... but not necc the best value. They don't do reservations for a big group, but we were able to be seated immediately as a bigger group during prime dimsum hours. Really nice, clean, serene atmosphere if a bit moody. Service was friendly, though we did need to flag people for more water and that we were ready with our order. I really enjoyed the food but was disappointed by the serving size given some of the prices. The soy sauce cabbage is delicious and beautiful, and I enjoyed the stir fry pea shoots. The cilantro beef wasn't it for me, as it was very heavy on the mala oil without being spicy or as flavorful as other soy fri that I've had. The dim sum menu was okay but didn't strike me as that much different than other places.

We came here mainly to try the duck and it did not disappoint. I would say it was one of the better ducks I've had. The skin was crispy and not too fatty. The ducks comes with wraps, scallions, cucumber, sugar, and sauce. The wraps are elastic which helps make a a tight wrap. We also got the boneless pork trotters. They were spicy, but a little salty. I would also hope for more pieces with tendons. Most of the pieces were skin. The restaurant is dimly lit and creates a great ambiance for dates. The service is also prompt and the servers friendly.

Uluh offers a mix of satisfying dishes, with a few that really stand out. we started with the boneless pork trotters, which had an incredible balance of fatty richness and bold Szechuan spiciness that made each bite irresistible. The crab tofu was deeply flavorful, with a sauce packed with crab that felt rich and comforting. I only wish it had a bit more spice to take it to the next level. The fatty beef with cilantro was another favorite, especially over rice--it had a hearty, homey quality that made it very satisfying. Service was really good, though the wait after 6 PM can get quite long, so plan ahead. Uluh is worth visiting, especially for the pork trotters and crab tofu!

Very highly recommended.Went here for a group birthday dinner. Rented out the room in the back. It was a very well decorated, with modern Chinese ambiance. Room was quiet away from the main dining hall and had plenty of privacy, as a private room should. My only negative about the ambiance is their choice of music. I'm not sure what to even call it but it was a bit out there for my taste.Service was generally okay although as the dining room got busy, we saw less and less of our waiter. But once the dining room clear up a bit service was back on point. As to the food, Uluh is one of the best Chinese restaurants in NYC. Dishes are pretty authentic, although they do not stick to a particular region. It's a mix of Cantonese dim sum, Shanghainese, and Szechuan. Tier 1:-pumpkin puffs - oh, so cute and tasty)-Peking duck - best in NYC -psycho spicy beef - it's spicy so if you're not into that, don't order this-lamb with ribs - fatty and delicious -sea bass in pickles - the sourness from homemade pickles was a perfect match-sautéed okra - not something you see everydayTier 2-trotters - Not bad, but also nothing special -rice cake with truffles - I'm not a big fan of carbs but others enjoyed thisTier 3-sautéed pork belly - nothing to write home about -crab tofu - I know other reviewers rave about this but it's just a light tofu dish without real flavor of crab -sautéed cabbage - not bad but kind of an unnecessary filler in the mealFinally, their tea and drink menu is excellent. We tried Oolong, Jasmin, and Rose. Each were very good and the presentation, and especially the individual pots and unique cups were just beautiful and fun to drink out of. The sweet drinks, including the cheese foam was unusual but delicious as well.

Remarkable restaurant to dine with a group for dinner if you're privy to waiting for a table (sans reservation). The timing can be fickle here--I arrive with a party of 3 and waited less than 30 minutes while a group of 4 in front of me had been waiting for an hour, so pick your poison! The peking duck here did not disappoint. The brown sugar glaze, while subtle added a wonderful whisper of extra flavor. The duck was perfectly moist and I had no comments. It is now my favorite in NYC. My only gripe was that they did not proportion the wrap well, as we had more meat than wrapping. Upon asking, extra rice paper was at an additional cost, which to me was a bit tasteless. The spicy green chicken fried rice was also a hit. It was fragrant and had a great kick to it, and was unlike any fried rice I have tried previously. I would say it's more of an elevated version of your run of the mill fried rice.Everything else was good, but not over the moon (braised pork, fried tofu, etc). All in all the harmony of the dishes were good, the restaurant ambiance is upleveled yet cozy, and the service was pretty good.Funny enough they were bumping hip hop bangers from the last decade, which was surprising in that kind of environment.Uluh and SMH down the street are my favorites at the moment for fancier Chinese food. I'll be back.
