This meal is insane. Easy 5 stars. Service 5. Be sure to check in to get free Turkish tea. The meal was so satisfactory and delicious. I can't wait to come back. This is a place I would bring my parents. The bread is crispy and fluffy at the same time. The zucchini pancakes for an appetizer are a must. Insane flavor with a great yogurt sauce. The clay pot kebab is absolutely insane. Great lamb with lots of mushrooms. I like dipping my bread in leftover greasy sauce. We went for the kunefe for dessert. I never knew that could be like a dessert until now. So tasty. Crispy corn like flakes on top. Many Turks inside so you know it's good. This says it's $$ but it's quite expensive. Most entrees are $40. We were two people and we got all that for $40. They say tip is not expected.

My wife and I stopped at Turkuaz Turkish Restaurant on 53rd Street with our daughter and son-in-law before heading to the NYC Ballet (a convenient 15-minute walk away). It turned out to be a great choice for a cozy, flavorful meal. Our waitress, Mary, was warm and friendly, making us feel welcome from the start. We started with Lahmajoun and Zucchini Pancakes as appetizers--both were fresh and well-prepared. For the main course, Mary recommended the Claypot Kebab, a rich and hearty dish featuring lamb meatballs, bell peppers, fresh tomatoes, kashkaval cheese, and mushrooms. It was outstanding--comforting and packed with flavor. My wife ordered the Turkish dumplings (Manti) but unfortunately didn't care for them as much.To finish, we tried the Turkish coffee, which was strong, authentic, and a great way to cap off the meal. The ambiance was warm and inviting, making it a great spot for a relaxed dinner before the ballet.Overall, a wonderful experience with a few minor misses. We'd definitely return--especially for the Claypot Kebab!

We visited Turkuaz without a reservation and were seated right away in the downstairs area, which didn't have the same charm as the upstairs. The downstairs felt more like a basement with tables and chairs, while the upstairs looked cozy and inviting. For appetizers, we tried the Haydari, a yogurt dish with walnuts, which was delicious and definitely a standout. We also had the Spinach Pastries, which were essentially spinach and feta in an eggroll-like wrap. These were just okay--not bad, but not spectacular. For our main courses, we ordered the Chicken Platter, which came with rice and a salad. The chicken was tender, flavorful, and cooked well. We also had the Falafel Platter, which included a salad and hummus. The falafel was a little dry for our liking, but the salad and hummus were good. The service was excellent. Our server was friendly and attentive.

Really wonderfully decorated restaurant! Came in on. Wednesday evening, I first took note of the lights above each table, kind of stained glass. My friend and I split the hummus which came with complimentary bread- additional bread is $5. The bread basket was enough for the two of us and the bread was pretty standard. I ordered the chicken shish kabob. The rice pilaf was seasoned well and not dry,Came with a side salad with light dressing. Finished off our dinner with Turkish tea. Loved it!

Turkuaz has some great food at reasonable prices but the service is quite spotty at times. We had the cold appetizer's plate for starters and then the sultan's plate as our main. Both items were good but the sultan's plate was definitely the center of attention (I mean, look at it)! The lamb was a tad bit chewy but the chicken was perfect. They were grilled well and the ambiance of this place was very nice as well. All in all, I would go back in general, especially with my parents as it's halal.

This review is for delivery, which always feels a little unfair as it's not always a reflection of the restaurant as much as the delivery process. That said, the food came very quickly so I was surprised that everything was cold -- at best, lukewarm. (I'm pretty close to the restaurant too.)Got the manti, which I'd never had before. I'm always up for trying a dumpling. Are they better warm? I'm guessing. They reminded me of pelmeni but with the addition of a yogurt sauce. Also ordered hummus as well as the falafel appetizer. The latter came with hummus too, which was nice and creamy, and I'm not mad that I have a bunch leftover. But I am a little disappointed that the falafel itself was fried so long that it was almost impossible to cut. The ratio of crispy exterior to soft interior was off. Pity because it tasted quite nice. And like I said, it was cold. The menu doesn't clarify what comes with pita and what doesn't, and there's no option for ordering additional pieces. My order came with three pieces of pita. So I'll be busting out some carrots from the fridge to eat all this hummus.Everything tasted fine, so I wouldn't NOT recommend this restaurant. I'd sure not recommend delivery though. That's my bad, for sure.

What an awesome dining experience at this spot. We dined in this Turkish family style restaurant In their private dining room downstairs which is basically a cave.Service was 10/10, food was great. And we were allowed to bring our own bottles of wines What I loved the most is how traditional and authentic everything here was, from the service to the location, to the waiters, everyone was Turkish. It felt like my friends and I were transported to dinner in turkey, yet we were still in NewYork. Food was great, service was exceptional and the group had a blast celebrating our dear friends birthday. We were all truly impressed.

Nicely decorated restaurant with two floors, great service and a bar for wine and beer. The only minor critique is the bathrooms are very small. We were a group of 4 for dinner and ordered the lamb pizza (lahmajoun), white bean salad, hummus, babaghanoush, zucchini pancakes, and grape leaves as starters. Everything was tasty, and we would order them again but the hummus and babaghanoush were a little bland while still enjoyable. The white bean salad was good, but very heavy on the onion and vinegar. The bread included with the dips was turkish bread and pita. The turkish bread was delicious, fluffy and crunchy on the outside. For entrees we got the turkish dumplings, lamb kofte (4 patties) and lamb shish kebab (6 pieces). Each was cooked perfectly and nicely spiced and we would definitely eat them each again. The rice was delicious while the salad on the entree plates was a bit too salty. We had the fresh mint tea for dessert (2 pots easily served 4 people). They do not expect gratuity, but ask that if you do tip, to do so in cash.A nice meal with good ambiance and service, just a little bit pricey.

We recently dined at a restaurant, accommodating a group of four, as a dear friend visiting town required halal cuisine. Opting for the Sultan's Plate, we were delighted by the culinary experience. Every aspect of our meal was exceptional, leaving us thoroughly impressed. Notably, the restaurant's policy of not accepting tips prompted us to express our appreciation with a gratuity in cash. However, state of the restroom is very filthy.

The ambience in the main dining room is charming. Our servers were attentive and friendly. The food was great as well, and we plan on returning on a future trip to NYC.
