Came here during their restaurant week - lunch deal is $30 for an appetizer and choice between about 5 udon dishes. Got the kaarage chicken for appetizer, which came with a decent amount of hefty pieces of chicken. It was good. Got the wagyu eggplant tantan udon as part of the deal - pretty good spice. Large location with ample seating, more upstairs and downstairs. Service was quick.

My husband and I were seated in a quiet alcove. The decor included a wall with letters. we amused ourselves by finding words with connecting letters. We were enjoying restaurant week.My husband ordered the salmon with avocado sushi. Great flavor. I had the hamachi shishito sushi. This was also very good.I had the waygu beef sukiyaki. The udons were super tender. My broth was full of 2 kinds of mushrooms, cabbage, and beef. The broth was super flavorful. It was a very generous portion. The spicy eggplant that my husband ordered had the right amount of heat for him. There was lots of bok choy, eggplant, and peppers.

Overall really impressed with service and quality of food. Came here for lunch with a large group, and our server was incredibly patient and accommodating. I got the Wagyu eggplant udon and it was really good and creamy and not too spicy. I also got the Shishido peppers as an appetizer which was standard, but nothing special. Really appreciate how big the portions are here and definitely left me a lot to take home. It's pretty spacious inside and can definitely seat a large group.

My soulmate and I went to this location for a lunch date. I was so happy to find out they have lunch specials. They seated us near the entrance this time. Every time the door opened, we felt a chilly breeze, but the view was very nice. Also, our server, Sellva, was patient with our questions over the menu. We got to enjoy sushi for $38 and a regular size bowl of our favorite noodles for 10 bucks more. I will definitely come back for lunch if I can take another half day off from work. Thanks for the great experience!

First off, the sizes of these bowls are massive. I got the tsurutontan deluxe which included two shrimp, a shiso leaf, and maybe a carrot tempura on top. There was plentiful amount of noodles and meat on top of the egg drop broth which left me barely able to finish. I recommend sprinkling some of the spicy flakes to add extra depth to the dish. The appetizer crispy corn tempura came with this delicious spicy crunchy aioli that had a mild comforting taste. Their curry is a solid choice but nothing extraordinary. Overall ambiance of the place is dimly lit beautiful interior type of restaurant. A good vibe would be the best way to put it! Service was nothing crazy, we had a nice guy.

visited with my daughter around 430 for early dinner. We were warmly greeted and informed we were there at great time before the crowds show up which meant we were also in time for Happy hour pricing. We got the beef udon which was sadly luke warm which disappointed both of us on a really cold day.

I was first introduced to Tsurutontan in 2016, when it first opened in Union Square in NYC and absolutely fell in love with it. From the oversized bowls for udon soup to the friendly staff, this place never disappoints! Now, since this location on 48th st opened up, I tend to go here more since the seating here is more open and less crowded, and it's easier to get a table here than in Union Square, but still have amazing service and delicious food. I come here to celebrate birthdays, catch up with friends, when I'm craving a good bowl of udon soup, or a regular lunch/dinner. Definitely come here multiple times a year. This time, I ordered the US Wagyu Deluxe Sukiyaki Udon Soup, the (regular) Beef Udon Soup, and the Sizzling Beef Sukiyaki Udon. Clearly, I love beef haha. The first two will always be favorites for me- rich broth, good amount of beef to go with the chewy udon noodles. The Sizzling Beef Udon was good but was very sweet in flavor since it was covered in sauce. While it was yummy, the sweetness of the entire dish came as a surprise. My favorites here would definitely be the Udon Soups!

Stopped by for an early dinner. Restaurant was very empty on a Monday around 5:30 pm. My friend and I ordered the Dubu Jjigae Udon and my usual Curry Deluxe Udon. The Curry Udon was a combo of udon with stir fried beef topped with a crispy pork Tonkatsu cutlet and 2 shrimp tempura (very freshly fried). The Dubu Jjigae Udon was a spicy Korean Tofu soup of udon, beef and a variety of vegetables and mushrooms in a delicious broth. Both arrived quickly and very hot. The udons were very tasty. I enjoyed my curry udon so much this time that I order additional portion of udon for $3. The meal was very satisfying especially on a cold January day.

Raku has ruined most other udon for me, but this one was p solid! I recommend the cold zaru noodles and make sure to order an egg if u wld like one bc it doesnt come w it (idk why but i falsely gave myself the impression that it did). I wasnt a huge fan of the tempura (not a lot of flavor in the batter) but i enjoyed the seaweed salad! The service was wonderful and v accommodating for large group

This place has really gone downhill in the last few years - sad! I used to prefer this spot to Raku and now I wouldn't even put those two in the same category! I remember when I would always recommend coming here when going out to dinner with friends and trying to choose between which of the delicious apps to choose from *sigh* long gone are those days.My bf and I came here on a Tuesday evening after work and the first thing I noticed was how their menu changed AGAIN. They offer these lame happy hour deals that's honestly not much of a deal imo. We started with the wagyu sushi, toro scallion rolls and veg tempura, and I got the beef udon, and my bf, the salmon donburi with a side of mini beef udon. The wagyu sushi was pretty oily and somehow still flavorless, the veg tempura was greasy af (it used to be so light and crispy ), and the toro scallion rolls' rice was wet and mushy, but the fish was fine. The beef in my udon was tougher than this review and the noodles lacked chew - it felt over cooked! My bf's salmon donburi was just FINE.Service here has never been great, they do a fine job, but definitely unfriendly (my bf said detached and transactional), but now that food is bad, you can't have bad food AND bad service. Gotta pick a struggle! So sad at what this place has become bc it's in such a good, central location to meet at, and used to be really good. No plans on coming back here and would rather trek and wait without a rez at Raku if craving udon.
