The Vibe:The shop is simple and unpretentious, with no fancy decor--just a pure focus on what matters: great food. The Food:The omakase experience is well-paced, and every dish reflects the chef's care and skill. The ingredients are fresh, and the knife work is impeccable--definitely worth more than the price! The Chef:The chef, is super friendly. I didn't get a chance to chat much this time, but I'll definitely talk more next visit. Both the food and atmosphere left me feeling warm and satisfied.

Food & Favorites:Salmon and shrimp remain my top choices here. All the meats were soft, well-prepared, and had great toppings. A nice touch was that the soy sauce and wasabi were already added to the fish, so all we had to do was enjoy! The o-toro with caviar was a showstopper, and the ikura was tasty, though a bit on the salty side for me.Service & Atmosphere:The staff did a great job! The menu flowed well, and the experience felt seamless. The server kept my water glass full, and the pickled ginger was refreshing between sushi pieces. The wasabi added just the right amount of heat.Seating & Layout:When we arrived, there was a wet nap on the dish in front of us, a small but appreciated detail. The entrance was packed right at 5 PM when they opened, with the hosts taking names and calling guests in one by one. Inside, the seating is U-shaped, allowing for a clear view of the sushi chefs (itamae) preparing the food, as well as other guests.Other Details:The bathrooms are located further inside the restaurant on the left-hand side. Overall, a fantastic dining experience with quality sushi and great service!

Tsumo was absolutely amazing for the price point. Every piece of fish was huge, juicy and tasty. The rice to fish ratio was great while the actual rice itself was not too sour or sweet, just right.I would have to say my favorite piece was the salmon and leek, it was so interesting I've never tried anything like it before. The uni was super sweet. The eel was so tender, actually a little too salty but besides that amazing. I loved the truffle piece too. Absolutely lovely. The ambience was good and seating was in a timely manner.

You can't beat the price here!$58 for 13 pieces? Initial impression walking into the restaurant was that it was crowded. I've never been to such a crowded omakase spot before and also noticed that the crowd was a bit younger. Makes sense given the affordable price tag and how massive the space was. There were two counter tables and each table probably seated close to 15 people, so collectively I would assume that there were about 30 people waiting at the entrance to get seated. We each had Madai $8 yellowtail $7 botan ebi $10 Ikura $7 Scallop $7 uni $10 kanpachi $7 zuke akami $8 Chu toro $10 o toro$16 Salmon$ 8 Unagi $6 Toro handroll$10I asked to get the uni replaced and they gave me salmon, which I thought wasn't an equivalent trade but it's chef's choice so what can you do? Either way the meal was so affordable that it was still worth it. Every piece was packed with flavor and it wasn't small. I like that they also had speciality cocktails and non alcoholic options. My favorite pieces were chutoro, madai, yellowtail and all the other tuna pieces. There was no wagyu included in the omakase and no dessert but we had toro. You an order special pieces to get the wagyu but they cost about $25 a piece. My friend ordered three special pieces and it came out to the price of another meal. The restroom was clean and the place was comfortable. I would definitely love to go back, it was a great experience!

Overall, I would give this place a 3.2/5. Most of the pieces were delicious but not as fresh as I would've like it to be. I especially enjoyed the amberjack, shrimp, and uni. The scallop and salmon however was not as good as others I've tried. I also like to eat the pieces with my hands but the rice fell apart more easily. Another downside is that this omakase place is definitely not a quiet, intimate place and accommodates a lot of people. It was disappointing how quickly they served each piece because we were done with the meal in less than 45 minutes. We felt rushed in that sense and wished the service was slower. Other than that, the service was good and the selection of sake that they had was also nice. The chef was kind but not as friendly as other omakase places I've been to. I think it's worth the price but I'd rather pay a bit more for better service and quality of food.

This place is definitely worth all the recognition it gets. Ambiance is great but seating may be a little tight. the fish is incredibly fresh and melts in your mouth. The items on the menu are pretty typical things to find. Nothing unique per se but the quality for the price is unbeatable

The fact that I'm already making excuses and reasons to come back to Tsumo and try all its partnered spots says it all. My husband took me here on a date and we were looking for a simple omakase as part of our evening in NYC. We were blown away by the flavors and how much we enjoyed for the price of the Omakase. Definitely the quality for its price was very matched if not exceeded. Top pieces we enjoyed were the chu toro, madai, yellowtail, and o toro. My husband who normally doesn't like uni even enjoyed the piece they prepared at Tsumo. All the bites were delicious, making us plot quickly which ones we were going to go for in the optional a la carte portion of the omakase seating. It's amazing how quickly 75 minutes goes but we made sure we got our top picks, and a wagyu not on the omakase, to try as well. Melts and has a truffle too? Wow. We splurged on a bottle of sake for the experience to really celebrate our love on this date. Additionally the staff was kind enough to give a small coffee ice cream with a candle since we were doing a date for my birthday (yes if you read my other reviews, my husband REALLY wanted to celebrate my birthday multiple times in multiple cities). Every bite was prepared so carefully and beautifully. They were also very good about accommodating my allergy to chives, onions, and scallions without compromising the quality. We loved chatting with our chef for the night, Ken, who has been with Tsumo since it opened a year ago. He made us feel welcomed and rounded out the full experience with his hospitality. Even if it's mostly the same pieces next time, we want there to be a next time. One of the best omakases we've ever had and we'll NEED to come back. Cheers!

Service and food was incredible. Spent more than I would have liked just because I couldn't resist some of the most decadent specials... but Jason was our sushi chef and he was fantastic. Will definitely be going back.

My first time having omakase, our chef Simon was fantastic! The sushi was very good. The pre-fix menu has a diverse range of flavors that was very fun to try. Generous slices of fish and a great price. Cant wait to come back.
