Trinidad Golden Place

I waited in line for almost 45 minutes, but it was totally worth it. Cash only.I tried a vegetable roti, which came with chana, aloo, spinach, and pumpkin. The roti itself was soft with a flaky filling in between the layers. The vegetables inside were all very pleasant - the spinach mild and stewed, the pumpkin sweet and spicy, aloo full of warm spices, and the hearty chana.I also tried the veggie chow mein, which isn't a noodle dish - only stir-fried veggies. It was also good, but nothing particularly different from any other American Chinese takeout spot.For just $15, I basically got enough food for three people. The roti is probably good enough for two by itself. It's worth the trip.

I've seen this place for YEARS and the line was always long so never been. Saw one video of the famous Nicolas come try and I just had to stand on the line to see myself! My father being from Trinidad, Idk how I waited so long but I'm glad I finally gave it a try. Now I think about it way too often. From the baked goods to the hot food?! They got it! I haven't tried a roti yet because I love the house special. It gets me right EVERYTIME! Next time maybe I'll get a roti. But every visit I pick up a few beef patties because it's hard finding good patties in the neighborhood. They ALWAYS have them too ; they're crispy with the perfect amount of filling and alil spice to it. The house special comes with rice lomein veggies and chicken with the brown sauce on top and alil on the side, with some peppaaaa lawd. It's soo good ! I tried their chicken soup before too. 10's across the board! Like nic said, they current roll not dry! They just come out after 3 :/Just prepare yourself to stand on a long line. Some times you'll get lucky and it's not all the way outside or wrapped around inside.

I have to write this immediately after eating my doubles so I don't look back at this review and think I'm being hyperbolic. I just had the chick pea doubles with everything on it and it was quite literally one of the five best things I've ever eaten in my life. The sauces were flavorful - both sweet and spicy. The bara was so chewy and fresh. I really am at a loss. How have I never eaten these in my lifetime? It's a disservice to my past self honestly. I ate it standing up at the counter because I just couldn't wait. I have come here before to get the baked goods which are also outstanding. I love the bread pudding and of course the currant rolls. I also tried the raisin bun today which was straight out of the oven and divine. Cash only and very affordable for the amount of food AND FLAVOR you're getting.

Greeted with a warm smile at the very clean counter with fresh aroma of baked good as soon as you open the door!! Ordered the chicken lo-mein, curry chicken with rice and peas, a chicken and beef patty. . Absolutely mouth watering delightful entrees . Topped it with the following: cupcake, raisin bun, and out of the oven bread pudding! You will not be disappointed. A must try!!!

It's conveniently located in my community. I have been buying food from them for at least 20 years. The owner and staff are very attentive and always on point. I ordered the curry crab and dumplings, until I was disappointed with it which I haven't eaten in years. That's too much money to waste. Some of the best doubles I've had in Brooklyn! This restaurant is always busy with a line out the door. They are CASH ONLY, so be prepared! Everything is super affordable and tasty. They have savory food items as well as their own bakery and sweet things. It's quite busy and can be loud once you enter the restaurant so be sure to figure out what you want ahead of time. Even when there's a line though, it moves. And the food is well worth the wait!

50/10 Definitely recommend! CASH only. This messes a lot of people up. This food is as authentic as it can get being based in NYC. The Roti is properly filled and yummy! I make it a point to visit EVERY time I am in New York.

My stepmother ordered some food from here for me because we were coming to visit from out of state. We wanted 12 doubles, rotis with goat, boneless chicken, and bone in chicken. Being that my stepmom was buying this the day before my visit, the lady at the store hooked it up and put all of the roti skins wrapped in paper, and all of the stewed meats in plastic containers. Love that the curries had potatoes in them. The doubles are fantastic here. The tamarind sauce was a hit here and I love the kuchela. I wish I had more of it!!! A big variety of Trinidad sodas. The champagne kola brings me back to my childhood. All throughout the day this place is cranking out the pastries. They all come out at different times of the day so it's a good idea to find out ahead of time. Will definitely have my SM order ahead again for me

This is my favorite place- I relocated to NorthCarolina in 2022. I came back here to visit and eat some doubles, salt fish and bake, chicken roti, buss up and now I was introduced to sweet rolls with the raisins - in it. Oh my,what a good pastry. Everything they have is delicious. Love their rotis and doubles. I only wish they would accept delivery services. I expect they have more than enough customers now to keep them busy. If you are near Nostrand Avenue and St John's Place stop by. You won't be disappointed.
