Vegan review!Honestly such a beautiful restaurant. Ordered myself a Miso Ginger ramen and I was so impressed! The noodles were cooked perfectly and the broth was so flavorful. By no means is it your typical ramen, but it totally hits the spot for a cozy noodle soup dish. Service was incredible and despite being a full restaurant - it is such a short wait. Totally coming back here when I am visit again!

Went to Tonchin with a friend! We both ordered the:tokyo ramen $21I arrived earlier. Staff requested to order a drink if you want to get sat without full party, which I thought was a bit odd. I ended up just waiting for my friend to arrive.Flavors were good. I felt the broth was on the oilier side.Nice vibes inside.

Service - friendly and attentive. Super nice!We got lucky and only waited a few minutes to be seated. Food was all good- solid tonkotsu ramen and loved the mushroom noodles. Drinks were good too! I got the highball The highlight for me was the shaved ice- it was so melt in the mouth. I enjoyed their house made cream too :)Clean single stall bathrooms in the middle of the restaurant towards the kitchen. I loved the open kitchen.

Tonchin has a great atmosphere, making it a wonderful spot to enjoy a meal. As a walk-in, I appreciated their policy of seating parties once everyone has arrived.I ordered the Smoke Dashi Ramen, which was a standout for me. It's definitely not for everyone--it's intensely umami with a strong, fish-forward flavor, but I loved it. That said, it was on the salty side, even paired with the noodles. We also tried a sake flight, which was smooth and light, perfect for beginners. The pickled mushrooms were intriguing--great texture and bite, though I wasn't entirely sold on the flavor. The fried fish bun, on the other hand, was excellent. The fish was perfectly crispy, and the sauce complemented it beautifully. For dessert, the presentation was stunning, with just the right amount of mango syrup and fruit, creating a delightful ending to the meal. The one downside was the service. While it was nice to have time to catch up without feeling rushed initially, it became a problem when dessert arrived. Shortly after, we were told there was a reservation in 5 minutes, which made us feel rushed to finish our meal.Overall, a great spot with unique flavors and a pleasant atmosphere, though the service could use some refinement.

Walked in solo no reservation and almost didn't wait for a seat but so happy I did wait. Well worth it. Tokyo White Ale was delicious while I waited. Got a bar seat and tried the cucumber salad - cold crisp lengthwise slices topped with microgreens and a wonderful dressing. A must-get. The ebi rice ball had a nicely fried large shrimp wrapped in a piece of crispy nori. Can't go wrong with hot fried shrimp. Finished with the tonkatsu ramen which was perfect on a cold evening. Toothsome noodles and delicious broth. I loved the thinly sliced chashu which was reminiscent of pho brisket and which made it much easier to eat the chashu. Delicious meal. Oh and their old fashioned is bewitching. Fun atmosphere. Reservations highly recommended.

If I had just the ramen, easy 5 stars. That was very delicious. Had every making of a great bowl of ramen: flavorful melt in your mouth chashu, perfectly cooked noodles, strong rich broth. But the side of chicken and ebi rice ball is what makes me knock off a star. The chicken was COLD, I think removed straight from the fridge. And the ebi rice bland was dry. It needed some sauce. Overall stick to the ramen and you'll be fine.

Solid ramen spot! Definitely one of the best ramen spots I have had in NYC. Not the best I have had in the states, but it was pretty tasty. I definitely recommend getting the classic tonkotsu! The broth was rich, deep, and thick. I would get the smoked dashi ramen if you like clams/seafood. Personally, a little too clamy for my liking. And the char siu and noodle thickness was perfect. We didn't get the shaved ice when we came because we were too full, but we did hear the people next to us say it was the best shaved ice they have ever had... So I would try it if your appetite is up for it! The aesthetic of the restaurant was very nice, modern and upscale. And our server was very attentive! Overall, I would come back.

TLDR the Matcha Shaved Ice Dessert's caffeine level kept me WIDE AWAKE until 8am the next day!!! :( It was nearly impossible to get a reservation on Resy so we just decided to do walk in on a weekday. The wait was 1hr+ so we ended up having a late dinner. After sitting down, we immediately ordered our entrees. After the first few sips of the broth, I noticed it was a bit oily but overall flavorful. The bamboo shoots are a bit chewier than I am used to. I just was not a fan of the meat at all, as it was cha siu but there was only 3 pieces that were cut very finely thin to the point where they tasted like ham. As for the quantity, I was still left a little hungry after the meal. Now what I mainly came here for was the Matcha Kakigori shaved ice dessert. I'm here to warn others that there is a TON OF CAFFEINE so BEWARE!!! Keep in mind, I've never ever ever had tea or any kind of caffeine keep me up at night, and considering that I had this dessert at 9pm, I was WIDE AWAKE and unable to fall asleep until 8am the next morning!!! Considering how strong this is, they should include the amount of caffeine on the menu. In addition, the shaved ice was pretty rocky icy, not the type of shaved ice that appears pillowy/snowy texture. It also seems as though the syrup is pretty thick and concentrated in flavor so it tasted like the syrup you get after a fruit popsicle has melted. Inside the restaurant it's dim lighting during dinner time to give it a vibey feeling, but considering all the tables are tight (the bench at the end of the restaurant that fits 8 had 4 groups of 2 seated there) it felt like I was rushed to leave so they could get another seating in. Overall I will not be returning after my experience here. What we ordered: -Classic Tokyo Ramen -Matcha Kakigori

Walked in with a friend on a Sunday afternoon around 12:45pm & was put on a wait list & grabbed a seat at the bar after only 15 minutes.Ordered Tebasaki Wings, 2 bowls of the spicy Tan Tan Ramen, and 2 High Balls - the Chu Hi & the Yuzu Huge fan of the Tebasaki Wings - they didn't have any batter but the skin was crispy. The dry seasoning was slightly sweet, savory, and mildly seasoned. So yummy in the simplest way!The spicy Tan Tan had a thick, rich, and creamy broth that wasn't overly salty. Instead of peanuts they have crushed cashews & some ground pork. Noodles were chewy - super solid bowl of ramen. Highballs were refreshing - if you like gin and tonic the Chu hi would be a good fit, but I personally liked the yuzu one which was light, slightly sweet, and citrusy. Can't wait to come back - would love to check out this place during happy hour

Tonchin lives up to the hype! The vegan ginger miso ramen was delicious, but I did not realize I needed to mix in the miso until a waiter told me . And the mango bingsu was so refreshing on a warm day. The vibe is pretty casual (despite how difficult it can be to get a reservation) and the noise level was great for casually chatting with friends.
