This is such a Gem! Perhaps my new favorite Greek place in all of New York. I came here on a weekday night for late dinner (8pm) and was able to snag a table for 2 without any reservations which was great!- Complimentary Pita with Baba Ganoush - I love how the eggplants in the baba ganoush was more thick cut so the "sauce" was more chunky. Also the naan, even when it turned cold, was still perfectly soft.- Avgolemo - This is my first time trying a cream-based soup with a lemony aftertaste. I was really surprised by the flavors of this broth and wish there was just a bit more orzo or chicken.- Dolmades - I usually don't like dolmades that much but this one was delicious. The rice was super succulent without being very overwhelming as one of my biggest complaint of this dish is that it often just tastes like you're eating a lot of carbs.- Arni Souvlaki - The lamb and beef kebab were very tender while the rice was very flavorful. I also really enjoyed the tzajiki sauce as it wasn't too heavy. I think this is one of the most well-done souvlaki's I've had in the city.- Saganaki - This is one of the best things I haven't eaten in a long time. The cheese block was not overly cheese-y and even when it turned cold from us sitting and talking for so long, it was still delicious as it didn't get too oily even though it was fried. - Complimentary Dessert - I was so surprised when they pulled this powdered sugar, cream, mixed with cracker concoction out for free? I really have never experienced getting a complimentary dessert at any New York restaurant before unless its at a Michelin-starred place. The dessert was light and airy and I appreciate the mixture of textures there were in the dish.Overall, such a fantastic restaurant in the UES. I can't believe I hadn't discovered this place earlier! I will definitely be back. Also the owners were so kind and friendly to us!

Unfortunately, the low-rating reviews about this place turned out to be accurate. The host was shockingly rude, mean, and completely unprofessional. He stayed in the back of the restaurant, avoiding guests altogether--not just us. When he did interact, his facial expressions were unfriendly, and he muttered comments in a foreign language right in front of us when we asked simple questions. To our disbelief, he then kicked us out for no apparent reason. We hadn't done or said anything inappropriate--we simply wanted to review the menu and ask for recommendations. This was especially disheartening because it was my child's birthday dinner, and I had made a reservation, noting the occasion. My child, who is in middle school and was nothing but polite, was understandably confused and upset by the host's behavior.Luckily, his rudeness led us to another well-loved restaurant nearby, The Drunken Monkey, without a reservation but it happened to have a table available, where we had a fantastic birthday celebration. We enjoyed their delicious food, and the staff went above and beyond to make it special with a surprise dessert, a giant cake sparkler, a birthday song from the entire team, and memorable photos taken with a Fujifilm Instax camera. The evening turned out to be wonderful in the end. I can't imagine how disappointed my daughter would have been if we hadn't been able to find a table at another nearby restaurant, all because of this problematic individual. It felt like this individual ran the restaurant as though he could do whatever he pleased, with no regard for basic decency. It's truly disappointing that such unprofessional behavior could ruin what was supposed to be a special evening. I would strongly caution anyone considering dining here--you deserve better service than what we experienced.

The restaurant has immense family atmosphere making it a true gem in the ues. You are greeted when you come in. The food is consistently on point and always cooked to perfection. Every time I've been there they have given freshly prepared Greek desserts. Some things I've gotten think are phenomenal- calamari, stuffed grape leaves, sausage, country salad, Delmonico steaks, lamb chops, orzo paella. Only downsides is that it's a small restaurant so you need a reservation and sometimes the service takes a minute.

Still our favorite Greek spot! We are always so delightfully greeted by the managers of this restaurant that it certainly makes you feel very welcomed. This is a small restaurant so always make sure to make a reservation, I did it via Opentable, which was so easy. We ordered many apps to share, such as the horitaki salad, octopus and my favorite gigantes. Followed by the grilled dorado fish and this time I was thrilled that they had barbounia on the special menu. The dishes were all so delicious and the service is definitely top! We always feel so welcome at Tinos. Additionally, we also got an in-house dessert, which is a layered Mille Feuille, so delicious! Overall, we love coming to Tinos and we are regulars!

The octopus is great, but the portion is small, with most of the dish being mashed potatoes. The lamb chops have flavorful seasonings but are slightly too dry.

Went early (6pm) and the restaurant was quiet, great street parking too. Even as it filled up, it never got too loud, no one mushed together. All of the food was excellent- everything my friend and I had was so good - salad, shrimp, soup, dessert, Greek coffee. The owner very hospitable, too.

I really wanted to gatekeep this place, but in honor of starting to write reviews on Yelp again after years of hiatus, I've decided to go for it. Tinos is a cute and cozy local joint with some of the best Greek food in the city! Over the course of a year, I've tried this place many times (and almost the entire menu), and everything is so fresh and tasty. I have been bringing everyone I know, and I always get the Greek salad, pikilia (dips with pita), and the octopus. Both the fish and the seafood orzo never fail. The service is always excellent too, and you might get a nice surprise after dinner.

I can't believe it, but this is my 1000th review! This was such a cute family owned, neighborhood Greek restaurant. There was a lovely cozy atmosphere. All the food was absolutely delicious and there was so much of it! We started off with pita, which came with 4 different dips. Each one tasted fresh and flavorful. I enjoyed the garlicky one and the eggplant based one. The pita was also very good... Soft and pillowy. The Greek salad consisted of tomatoes, cucumbers, green pepper, red onion, olives (which I didn't eat), pieces of feta, and lots of bold spices, along with olive oil. Veggies were crunchy and juicy, while the feta was nicely creamy.Fried calamari was delightfully crispy and well seasoned. There was also grilled octopus bites on top of hummus with red pepper, onion, cilantro in a slightly salty (in a good way), savory sauce. I usually don't eat much octopus, but surprisingly found myself coming back for more of this dish. One of my favorites of the evening was Fried Saganaki Cheese, which was smooth, mouthwateringly melty, with intense flavor. The cheese came with a plate drizzled with vinegar and lemon on the side, adding extra layers of yumminess. Then came Ground Lamb and Beef patties, which were simply prepared, lightly charred, hearty, and tasted wonderful. As for seafood, there was whole Branzino (served butterflied with the head still on the plate), as well as Salmon. I preferred the salmon, which was juicy, tender, flaky, full of rich seasoning. The Branzino also had a lot of spices, but was marinated in a caper sauce, which I wasn't such a fan of. Still, I could tell the fish was quite fresh and cooked expertly. In terms of starches, we were served Lemon Potatoes and Leek Rice Pilaf. The potatoes were perfectly cooked to just the right consistency. Rice was also really good with carrots and tons of seasoning. Dessert was Galaktoboureko made with phyllo dough, custard filling and covered with a dusting of powdered sugar, accompanied by Greek coffee. The phyllo dough part was crunchy, slightly sweet and paired perfectly with the velvety smooth, indulgent custard. The coffee was authentic and strong, oh so luscious, and didn't need any additions.Service was top notch. The servers were attentive and we always had new food being served. I would definitely return to try the Lamb Chops or Pork Chops with Greek Fries and the Baklava of course.

Amazing food at a great price! Recently ordered the mini lamb kabob and loved it. This is some of the best Greek food I've had, and I eat Greek food fairly often. They even threw in a free dessert! A++ Bravo

Service was rude and disrespectful. We made a reservation for a table on Valentine's Day and no mention was made that there was a prix fixe menu. We even called to ask if they were still BYOB and they said they had a liquor license but that corkage was $15 but no mention of price fixe. I called the day of to confirm corkage and they mentioned it was $30 today for Valentines. Still no mention of prix fixe. Of course we were very upset to see them only offering prix fixe when we were seated. We asked for some accommodation due to eating restrictions and the manager said Today it's $65...$65 means $65. And $65 per person is like free. He said it in a rude disrespectful manner and did not even acknowledge their fault in not mentioning the prix fixe menu in advance. Will not be going here again.
