The Up & Up

Finally got a chance to try the Up&Up! I've always passed this speakeasy but could never get a Resy or had the patience to wait (wait times can be anywhere from 1-1.5 hours depending on your party size); thankfully the 2 of us were able to get in on a Saturday night after about 40 mins.We were seated at the bar - bartender was attentive and friendly. It's very cozy inside with plenty of seating that is well spaced out for privacy - can you believe that every seat was taken?! Although it was a full house, it wasn't too loud and the lighting was just right to set the mood. I would definitely come back to try their other cocktails - the drinks and vibes here did not disappoint!

I am ok with bad drinks but great service, because you know at least they tried to make up to you. But this place: BAD DRINKS, BAD SERVICE, IGNORANT AND EGOTISTICAL BARTENDER!!!!The bar was on my want to go list for almost a year based on all the great reviews I saw online, and decided to finally check it out with my friend (male, yes this is important) the other night. We walked in with no reservations and waited half an hour to be seated. After being seated for not up to 5 minutes, one of the bartenders came over and told us we had to "Get Out" because there was a reservation. It turned out that the couple to the right side of us was leaving so the reservation was seated there. And guess what, no apologizes!!!! The same bartender then turned to the two females that was sitting down to the left side of us and started chatting them up and had their drinks served while no one came to take our orders.When I got my first drink, it honestly tasted terrible. I told the bartender that I wanted something sweet and NO whiskey at all in replacement since he offered. This guys goes and makes a whiskey based cocktail and when I told him I did not like it, he YELLS at me and asked me what I want. I once again repeated myself and he goes ahead and makes me a spicy drink. I do not understand why he can't make a drink to my request.My friend and I asked for the bill and waited 10 minutes and no one came to us, there were other guests paying and leaving. (I think it was because we were the only Asians at the bar that night? Is that why they were rude to us?) DEFINITELY NOT COMING BACK, ALSO WROTE REVIEWS ON OTHER SOCIAL MEDIA ACCOUNTS AND RECIEVED SIMILAR FEEDBACKS ON VERY TERRIBLE SERVICE!!!!! IF YOU WANT TO HAVE A GOOD NIGHT, JUST DONT COME TO THIS PLACE.

After catching a comedy show, my cousins and I decided to stop by The Up and Up in NYC's Greenwich Village. It was my first time, and this speakeasy-style craft cocktail bar did not disappoint--it was an experience as much as it was a drink.The low lighting creates an intimate, almost cinematic atmosphere that immediately sets the mood. We were seated on one of their high-back circular couches, which were as comfortable as they were stylish. The entire space has a cozy yet refined vibe, perfect for conversation and savoring expertly crafted cocktails.The staff here are the epitome of professionalism. Knowledgeable and passionate, they guided us through an extensive menu of unique, meticulously crafted drinks. Their understanding of flavor profiles and liquors was impressive, even earning the respect of one of my cousins--a professional bartender himself--who was thoroughly blown away by the experience.The cocktails? Phenomenal. The creativity and balance in each drink were unmatched. Several of the spirits used in the cocktails are now proudly stocked in my home bar, a testament to the care they put into sourcing high-quality ingredients. Each sip felt like a revelation, and I found myself wanting to try everything on the menu.The Up and Up isn't just a cocktail bar; it's a masterclass in mixology paired with an inviting, intimate atmosphere. Whether you're a seasoned cocktail enthusiast or just looking for a memorable evening, this spot is a must-visit. I'll definitely be back. My cousins and I are already talking about our next round.

I went on a journey to find some of the best bars in NYC, and this place is definitely up there as one of the best. Every drink I had here was phenomenal and I really liked the vibes of this place. Definitely get busy, but the drinks are worth it. I can't remember what I had, but all I remember is it was green and foamy and fantastic.

Stumbled upon this cocktail lounge while walking around the area waiting for a show at the Comedy Cellar. Walked in around 11pm without a reservation, and thankfully it wasn't super busy so we were able to get seated at a booth right away. It's pretty tucked away and ironically in a downstairs den but as soon as you walk in the vibe feels so fancy and high-end. Drinks were amazing and their charcuterie was good to snack on while sipping on our cocktails. Our server was really nice and gave us helpful recommendations when ordering. I'd definitely come back and would recommend to friends!

Ordered:Thirsty Ghost (~$19): Seedlip Grove non-alcoholic spirit, rose water, jasmine tea, honey, and lemon juiceAya's take:This place is incredible. I would consider this the upper echelon of speakeasies. If you can get in, you better go. We decided to just walk in as a table of 3 around 6:45pm on a Saturday and luckily, there was a table finishing up and they were able to accommodate us. And did I really come here and order a non-alcoholic drink? Yes. The Thirsty Ghost has so many ingredients that I like and I was right. It was truly the best mocktail I've ever had - from the floral essence to the lightly sweet flavor to the ice cube with the Up & Up logo on it! It was a perfect drink. The Up & Up is definitely in my top 10 list for speakeasies & cocktail bars in NYC.

It's not about the food although they have cheese and popcorn. That's a delight. The service is amazing. The experience is fantastic. It's a totally recommendation. I enjoyed the cocktails tremendously. I give it a five out of my five for a comeback. Ambiance outstanding

Tl;dr some delicious cocktailsMy friend recommended this place and I had a great time enjoying the ambiance and drinks. This is a great space to spend time getting to know people because it's not too loud and the seats are nice and intimate. The drinks here were stellar. I was very impressed with the drinks and with the recommendations the bartenders give.

One of my favorite cocktail bars in the city. Often find myself coming here either before or after a comedy show or even after dinner at Tokyo record bar down the street. Cocktails are always unique and flavorful and they're constantly changing their menu with new concoctions. It's very cozy and intimate inside so not the best for a big group, but great for 2-4 people.

Awesome cocktail bar, nice laidback space inside, interesting menu. The paisley cocktail was so smooth and well balanced I would go here just for that
