The Spaniard

The Spaniard went above and beyond for me today, it was some of the best service I've ever had. At the end of a fantastic night - many thanks to our bartender! - my coat was missing in action. The manager checked their video footage without being asked, and when the coat couldn't be located, they immediately offered me a Spaniard hoodie to get home in the cold. Every single person there was incredibly friendly and helpful, 11/10.

This is a phenomenal place to go for amazing food in the West Village. The smashburgers are underrated and have my vote for one of the best in New York. Fresh cut potatoes are transformed into amazing fries to complement the burgers. The drinks here are second to none, even for those not consuming alcohol. In addition to everything else you can imagine, the mocktails here are excellent. This is a classic West Village bar and restaurant, very easy to imagine luminaries from the past hanging here with friends. I come here fairly frequently and the team here is always friendly and welcoming.

Came here for a quick drink on a Sunday afternoon after brunch. We ordered aperol spritz and a dirty martini (which was a bit dirtier than my boyfriend would've liked). One of our drinks had a little fuzz on the straw but our server was quick to notice, made us aware of it and said she'd grab another straw for us. Something minor but we appreciated it! They had a chill crowd and the game was on TV. Overall, attentive staff and quick service! Although we came at a quiet time, I heard The Spaniard is the spot to go at night on the weekends, so we'll be making a visit soon to check it out!

I think this is my favorite extra vodka martini so far. Other than that, I think that their onion rings are outstanding.

Stopped in for a drink with friends before walking over to the comedy cellar. Love the vibe- it's the perfect amount of polished wood, flattering lighting, and glass lamps. Service was friendly and efficient.

Came to celebrate a beloved coworker who was leaving &we had cauliflower, hand cut fries, the artichoke dip w/toast, and the fresh chips with a lovely array of drinks. I enjoyed my whiskey mezcal cocktail, the service, and appetizers were tasty. I'll definitely come back and try the burger.

This was my second time going to the Spaniard. The first time it was super packed and I did not enjoy it. However, this time my friend booked a table and we got a booth in the second room. We had a lot of space and there were waiters to come take our orders for drinks. I enjoyed this experience much more than my first one. The bar is known for serving whiskey drinks, which I had not known before. I did not order whiskey drink, but it was not bad.

Super cool spot to go out with friends and have a drink. I didn't go for dinner but their cocktails are so good! I got the plum job, highly recommend.

I've been here several times for drinks prior to this visit and always enjoyed the experience. This time we were a group celebrating a birthday and we had the small room in the back of the bar which worked out perfectly. The servers were attentive and helpful. There were a variety of things ordered but everything I tried was very good! The chorizo fritters and buttermilk biscuits were ordered for the table and disappeared within minutes. Delicious! The beau and I had a smash burger and crispy chicken salad. Both hit the spot. I heard lots of ooohs and aaaahs from the table indicating a happy bunch of people. The most popular cocktails at the table were the orange crush and yes to heaven. Pretty and delicious! The beau spoke of a return visit which is a true seal of approval.

Had a 10:45pm reservation, arrived at 10:53pm and was told there were no tables when there is a 15min grace period. Was sent no text or no commutation. Bouncer was rude in telling us so I asked to speak to the host who was also rude, they just let another party with a 10:45 reservation in online right before us. There was no compensation of oh but you can wait by the bar or your party can come inside until I had to make a statement asking such. Was told I would get a text for a table and never did while waiting inside
