The Original Caribbean King

Stumbled upon this gem on a random weekday afternoon and had the best meal! My brother and I ordered a large oxtail bowl to share since I wasn't too hungry but the super nice man insisted we also needed to try their 2nd best seller which is the jerk chicken so he very kindly hooked us up with a small bowl as well! And I am so grateful that he did because they BOTH were 10/10. The jerk chicken was super flavorful and the oxtail was extremely tender. Loved every bite!

I was recently on a business trip to Brooklyn. It was a really quick trip, fly in from Florida, quick meeting, bite to eat, overnight in the city and back to the airport. Everything went fine except my decision to eat at the Original Caribbean King. I got the chicken curry bowl which came with rice and peas. It was a good size portion, but the food was definitely not freshly made and looked like it had been sitting for a while. The curry had a weird flavor and didn't seem authentic, plus the rice had crisp pieces in it like it was reheated too long. In my rush to eat and be on my way, I unfortunately overlooked these issues. Big mistake. As I went back to the hotel a few hours later, I got a pretty notable stomach ache and had wound up in the bathroom for a big part of the night. Clearly something was wrong with the food.After a rough night and a precarious trip to CVS to get meds, I started to feel a bit better. But wow what a night. If I had to fly home immediately after eating at Caribbean King I would have had a major problem. Luckily I got to recuperate a bit overnight. Overall 1 star. Eaters beware, I would not take a chance with this food after what I went though.

I love getting the $20 oxtail plate from this food truck. It's flavorful, packed to the brim, and so so satisfying. I love this spot so much!

Decided to eat "Caribbean" food. Big Mistake!! Stay away from this food truck.The kitchen is absolutely mess! I'm not sure if they even have a license to run this place. I hope Health department will visit them soon.Ordered their Jerk Chicken bowl. Took a few bites and threw it into the garbage. What a waste of time and money. Luckily my stomach is OK

My oh my, what an experience! I say, probably the best HALAL Caribbean food food truck I have ever come across. Out of the hundreds of food trucks I came across today at the Halal Food Festival in Nassau County, Caribbean king definitely won. The lines were jammed packed with hungry foodies and I was lucky enough to wait 30 minutes for their jerk chicken. However, they did run out of the oxtail but the jerk chicken and the scotch bonnet sauce? Was to DIEEEEE for. My platter came with plantains, rice and three meaty pieces of jerk chicken. Definitely a 10/10! Such friendly workers that volunteered to be a part of this festival which was vital FYI ! and I have to say that I was impressed by how great of a quality their food was. Delicious rice mixed perfectly well with the jerk sauce and chicken. Truly finger licking good.

Perfect place to grab a bite after you pick up groceries from whole foods...lol. I say this because this is exactly what I did. Split the jerk chicken tacos and curry chicken bowl with my partner and we were big fans. Quick and friendly service, affordable, filling, and flavorful! Every time I walk by I always think to myself- dang, that food truck was delish!

Don't get me wrong this oxtail bowl wasn't bad. In fact I'd give it a solid 7.7/10. The sauce was rich, you can tell it was steeped in flavor for a good time, and the meat was tender. I was just displeased with the low quantity and lack of quality in every other aspect: coconut rice had mushy texture and wasn't cooked properly (maybe intentional to soak up the sauce better and be more like a porridge but no not my thing) and this was $20 for a portion that skimps out on meat and tried to fill you up on mediocre beans and even worse rice.

Anas has great customer service the food was prepared quickly. He even gave me a small sample off a few items on the menu to help make a decision on what I wanted. That alone satisfied me as a customer and would recommend him if your in the area. Food gets a 8/10

One of my all time favorite food trucks and meals. I could eat this every day and never get sick of it. Yum!!

Not as much of a line outside this food truck, parked near 6th/54. Ordered the curry chicken salad and came out to $16.77. The dish was heaping; good portion of chicken breast, side of cabbage salad, lettuce with tomatoes, pickles, jalapeños, and red onions, and fried plantains. The plantains has a nice putter crunch. The meal comes with a small packet of balsamic salad dressing. The chicken curry is spicy and not for those who can't tolerate heat! Unfortunately, the meat was extremely dry. For the price point, I would have much rather ordered from a different food truck.UPDATE: A full refund was issued with an apology for the quality of their food. This level of customer service is duly noted!
