We had an amazing experience dining here. The service was lovely - great recommendations and just the right amount of check ins. The atmosphere was cute with holiday decorations. What truly impressed us and will have us coming back was how every dish we had was perfectly cooked, well balanced, and delicious. The chicken was incredible, some of the best chicken we've ever had. The agnolloti was the perfect texture, not overfilled and delicious. The sauces on everything were devine. We also enjoyed the chicory salad which balanced out the richness of the chicken well, and the Parker house roll. Desert and drinks were also lovely. Excited to come back!

KenScale: 8.0/10Visit: September 2024I talked to my wife Jun earlier this year about our experience in the DC area since we had moved here more than three years ago. After some misses, we had found some really good restaurants that we found ourselves visiting multiple times; Jun was quite adamant, though, that the overall quality of restaurants in NYC in terms of breadth and consistency is still superior to DC. Nowadays, when we visit NYC, we would often just go back to our favorites like Atomix and Frevo rather than try new places that could've given us a better idea of the latest state of dining in the city. On our trip to the city in September, I wanted to try a few new places to check out what other chefs outside of our familiar circles were up to. The Noortwyck in West Village was one such place, started by a pair of alums from Eleven Madison Park (chef Andrew Quinn and sommelier Cedric Nicaise). We met with a couple whose wedding in Barcelona we had recently attended for early dinner, and found a lot to like about the restaurant. If you have been to enough number of restaurants in big cities like NYC or DC, the menu at The Noortwyck might not look especially intriguing. Who hadn't tried fluke crudo, heirloom tomatoes or duck breast at a sleek New American restaurant in a buzzy neighborhood, right? But then, the more we tried the dishes, the more realized that the kitchen was doing something special. Fluke Crudo, accompanied by cucumber and fennel, had spot-on texture, while grilled Romano beans with bagna cauda demonstrated the kitchen's high level of competency with vegetables. If the heirloom tomatoes with stracciatella and peach jam are still on the menu during your visit, they are not to be missed. The restaurant also has a couple of pastas on the menu, and the agnolotti with corn and summer truffle showed lovely earthy flavor without being overpowering. The aforementioned duck breast was also one of the standout dishes from our dinner, wonderfully grilled BBQ-style to give juicy meat, as was the pork belly with tamarin and fennel that I thought had really great moist flavor and texture. All of us were quite stuffed at the end of the savory dishes and ended up splitting one dessert, a deconstructed expression of mille feuille with banana, stout caramel and pecan almost resembling a sculpture that ended up tasting quite delightful. Thanks to its location and quality of cooking, The Noortwyck is one of the harder restaurants to secure a reservation, especially at the last minute. If you are looking to dine during prime time, especially with a larger group, advance planning is highly recommended. The typical West Village vibe of the restaurant full of younger crowds looking for a fun Saturday night out can feel somewhat chaotic at times but not uncomfortably so. Not surprisingly given the pedigree of one of the founders, the wine list was impressive, with some really interesting bottles from different corners of the world (I had no idea that there are red Burgundy wines produced nearby the all-white Chablis region until I encountered from the wine list a pinot noir from the nearby Epineuil appellation that was remarkably delicious without breaking the bank). After our visit to The Noortwyck, I realized that Jun was onto something in terms of the overall consistent quality of restaurants in NYC, knowing that, despite its precise and well-executed cooking, the restaurant has somewhat flown under the radar in the city's crowded dining scene. Judging by how satisfied Jun was with the dining experience, The Noortwyck certainly deserves more attention from the foodies in the city.

The hosts were absolutely divine! They were so kind and accommodating, seating us even though we arrived early for our reservation. We were visiting from California, and had never been to the restaurant. We were very excited to try the food here! We found this spot on social media, and had seen multiple dishes that we came here for specifically. Upon arrival, and after looking at the menu and listening to the server, Lizzie's, menu tour we realized none of the items we came for were on the menu. We asked Lizzie if they still had those items and she let us know they did not at that time. From that moment, Lizzie's attitude towards us shifted. Since we are from out of town, we were unaware that the menu changes and you are advised to check before coming in. We kindly let Lizzie know that we came in for those items specifically so we would probably be heading out, and apologized and thanked her for her service. Her demeanor towards us completely changed and she was very rude. We paid for our bottle of still water that we didn't drink, and thanked her and apologized again. She was so passive aggressive towards us, and walked right to the host and started whispering about us even though we were sat right next to the host stand, where we could see and hear. We are both servers and understand frustrations or disappointment during shifts, however it felt uncomfortable and pretty disappointing to be treated that way. We did not want to order drinks and stick around just to take up a table in her section, and felt we were being considerate by leaving before wasting much of her time. We thought about staying to try other things on the menu but once our server's attitude changed completely, we didn't feel like staying anymore. Hosts had amazing service and were extremely kind. Ambience is very cozy and beautiful. I wish our experience was different.

My boyfriend and I came here for a New Year's Eve prefix meal. It was one of the best meals we have had in NYC to date. Everything was so delicious. The beef Wellington was insane. We loved the agnolotti and the fluke was so fresh. Honestly though every dish was insane it's hard to pick a favorite. The service was top tier as well. The restaurant is also beautiful. We are looking forward to coming back here to try to normal menu too. We will be thinking about this meal for a while.

Such a great spot! The Noortwyck is an excellent restaurant that you can actually make a normal time reservation for. If you want a quality meal with great wine and cocktail options, this is your spot. The menu is great for sharing - everything I've tried has been a hit. Service is great - the servers and somm are very attentive. Ambiance is nice, not pretentious, buzzy. It's great for a small group or dinner for two.

My experience dining at The Noortwyck was nothing short of unforgettable. From the moment we arrived, we were welcomed with genuine warmth, setting the tone for an exceptional evening. Though the menu is thoughtfully curated rather than overwhelming, each dish is crafted with precision and creativity, making every bite feel like a work of art. We started with the fluke tartare, which was incredibly fresh, light, and beautifully balanced in flavor. It was the perfect appetizer to whet our appetites for what was to come. For the main course, I opted for the duck, and it was simply outstanding--perfectly cooked, tender, and bursting with rich, savory goodness. Every dish showcased high-quality ingredients and expert preparation. The service was equally impressive, with attentive yet unobtrusive staff ensuring we had everything we needed throughout the meal. The ambiance added to the overall charm, creating an inviting space that felt both elegant and comfortable. Whether you're a foodie looking for your next great meal or simply someone who appreciates excellent hospitality, The Noortwyck is an absolute must-visit. I'm already looking forward to my next visit!

I had a great time here with my girlfriends on a Monday night~ Lovely ambiance once you walk in, and the servers are all very pleasant to talk to. A lot of reviews mentioned the Seeded Parker House, and we were glad we got it b/c it was bigger than expected so you can share little bites with the table, and was so fluffy and flavorful! The Char Siu Duck was also very yummy and paired well with the foie gras butter. With the linguine, I felt like the sauce was a little unique(?) and wasn't vibing with it too much..But out of everything, I would highly recommend getting the Agnolotti. The corn paired so well with the cream and noodles. I would come back just for this dish!I think overall, I think the ambiance was good for a little more elevated dinner and I appreciated that the dishes had a touch of their own special elegance to it.

We knew we were in for something special when we stepped into The Noortwyck on a crisp October evening. Fortunately, We were seated by the French doors in the bar area, which opened onto Bleecker Street, offering that quintessential West Village ambiance. While the autumn chill crept in occasionally, it only added to the cozy atmosphere and gave us the perfect excuse to warm up with their exceptional cocktails.Speaking of cocktails, they deserve their very own paragraph. The mixology program here is nothing short of extraordinary. Each drink was crafted with precision and creativity, so we couldn't resist trying multiple variations. Fair warning: the cocktails are dangerously good, and before we knew it, our dinner had evolved into quite a spirited affair! The food matches the high bar set by the drinks. The porcelet belly was a standout - perfectly prepared and divine. The saffron-scented gnocchi deserves special mention; these pillowy bites of heaven carried the delicate essence of saffron without overwhelming the palate. But the true star of the evening was the charcoal-grilled duck breast. The kitchen's genius shows in balancing the meat's natural richness with a complex molasses rub and barbecue-inspired flavors, creating a bittersweet symphony that elevates this dish beyond a simple protein course.Service was impeccable throughout the evening. The staff struck that perfect balance of attentiveness without hovering, and their knowledge of the cocktail and food menus was impressive. They seemed genuinely excited about the menu and eager to share their recommendations. The price point is on the higher end, but the quality of food, drinks, and service makes it worth it. Pro tip: If the weather permits request a seat by the French doors. People-watching on Bleecker Street adds extra entertainment to your evening.

Had a fantastic meal here with some friends on a Thursday evening. The general vibe was pretty laid back, which was refreshing for a restaurant of that calibre in the area.We ordered a few dishes to split and particularly like the scallop, the duck breast, and the agnolotti! We also tried their special dessert (forget the name), but it was a hit! Their wine selection is also pretty solid and they do have cocktails if that is your thing. The service was very attentive and friendly, giving us solid recommendations on food (particularly the dessert info was useful). I will most likely be back again and looking forward to trying some of their other dishes.

Came here for a birthday celebration and the food did not disappoint! We started with the seeded Parker house bun and it tasted so fresh and fluffy like it just came out of the oven! It worked perfectly with the butter. The next dish was the fluke crudo, which to be honest, I didn't enjoy very much because it was very tart. It tasted like a ceviche, but even more sour. I don't recommend this dish. Their signature dish was the bbq duck breast which I would say was cooked well and had good texture, but was too gamey for my preference. The vongole was good and I appreciate the linguine being al dente but the dish was a bit on the salty side. My favorite was the agnolotti stuffed with butternut squash in a ricotta and butter sauce.. so heavenly! Each bite just melts in your mouth.. We finished our meal with the Mille feuille 2.0 which blew our minds! We thought by the name that it would be a layered dessert but was pleasantly surprised when it only came in 1 layer! I believe the thin pastry sheet on top was made in house and it was made to perfection. I imagine it's very difficult to make so kudos to the chef! We were very pleased with the service and had an overall good night dining here. This place has a very romantic setting so it's perfect for a date night!
