First course; didn't show the dip - surface of the dip just looks beige but hides a lot of deliciousness - this crispy thing was fantastic!

Food: REALLY GOOD. Think i know why they ended up getting two stars starting from their bread roll and mushroom soup, to their main dish venison steak and until desserts, it was really really great experience for my sister's birthday luncheon. Service: 4.7/ 5 michelin star level two type of experience but nothing like crazy better than other michelin places. Decent service ans I personally thought their cute gesture of placing "happy birthday" card on the table was very thoughtful.Ambiance: 4.5/5 view of the MoMa is quite nice and the natural light during lunch was impressive. I think the darkness during dinner would be quite nice too!

I had dinner here at the bar room last night. The cocktails are great, and the food is hit or miss. Examples, the mafaldine with rabbit is perfect, the chicken with preserved tomato is a weird flavor combination, the caviar hot dogs are very fun, but the tarte flambé is effectively the sausage egg and cheese hot pocket. For the steak tartare, the potatoes are great, but the tartare is prepared well in advanced, and chilled ready for service which makes it come out extremely cold. Overall, everything was reasonably enjoyable, until the end. After I paid the bill via InKind, I wanted to notify my server prior to leaving, but we hadn't seen him in a while. The sommelier walked by and I politely asked her if she wouldn't mind mentioning this to our server if she happened to see him. The sommelier was immediately dismissive, judgmental, and with a holier-than-thou attitude, said that it wasn't her problem because "she wasn't connected to our table". I politely reiterated that all I was asking was just to mention that we'd already paid if she saw the server, and in a mocking tone she said "sure, whatever" and walked away. I have never had such a stunningly condescending experience at a Michelin caliber restaurant. I was going to come for the full tasting, but I will now go elsewhere where I'm not thought of as a transaction.

Came for lunch and left very full and satisfied. We had a lunch reservation and were seated on entry after the optional coat check. Service was great and as expected for the restaurant. Very professional, friendly, and all around helpful/knowledgeable with recommendations. We had the three course lunch and everything was delicious! Totally understand why the place is well known. It was my first time trying venison and was thoroughly impressed. The place itself is beautiful with lots of natural light coming in as well in the dining side. The bar side seemed to have a more intimate vibe as we passed by but to summarize - definitely recommended!

I came here on New Year's Day for dinner service with a party of 3. Initial impression was that the restaurant is very clean and neat. The service from entrance to exit was spectacular. Our table opt for the Abstraction Menu which is their full tasting menu. Everything we had was delicious and perfectly executed. Notable mentions is their signature dish: Eggs on eggs on eggs, would say it was highly anticipated and delivered as well. Another dish I noted were the scallops. They were perfectly seared and tender inside. The only thing I did not enjoy was their espresso martini. I felt it was too bitter for my liking. My friend got the self portrait cocktail which was good though! Other than that, the full experience was enjoyable. At the end we were peeping into the kitchen curiously, and to our surprise we got an invite to tour inside the kitchen with an informative staff member. Above and beyond hospitality!Their menu is seasonal which gives a good reason to return in the future!

Located right next to the MoMa.I came here for my birthday celebration. Their egg on egg on egg is amazing. I mean....who doesn't like caviar? The dishes were beautifully presented and some were a hit and some were a miss. The buckwheat bread with french butter? must try...double. Of course, service is always on point and it's been a while since I've dined in a place like this so getting fawned over was a little weird haha. Not at the fault of the establishment but it seems like the MoMa had sometype of performance outside and it ruined our ambiance and experience a little bit.

Came here for a birthday celebration and it was one of the most disappointing meals I have ever had.For almost 300 inclusive of taxes and fees for two people, I expect the food to be top-notch. However, some of the food are so salty and sweet that i couldnt even take more than one bite. I really question how can this quality of food get two Michelin stars? The staffs feel like interns and the service is also just meh.I would have given two stars but for that they give me a small cake for my birthday, I upgraded to a three-star.Definitely would not come back again.

They have the BEST beef tartare I've ever had! The flavor profile is just how I like it: savory and a bit creamy. I overhead a mom telling her young kids that the beef tartare is a MUST order, and I couldn't agree more! We went for restaurant week, which I think is the best time to go to the Modern since it's a great deal and the portions are on the smaller side. Every dish we've tried is so tasty. The restaurant is also very beautiful and modern :) One of my favorite restaraunts in New York! If the portions increase a bit, it would get 5 stars.

I had a splurgy, fancy, treat myself solo lunch at the Modern a week or so ago when I was in NYC over Labor Day weekend. I've been disappointed by some fancy, Michelin-starred or Michelin Guide experiences in the past, but this meal really was a treat. The service, the food, the ambiance, the people watching, the wine...a delight from start to finish. At lunch, the restaurant offers a three-course prix fix ($115 per person with an optional $80 wine pairing) or an eight-course tasting menu ($275 per person with an optional $195 wine pairing). I went with the three courses but with some add ons (of course)! To start the meal, they brought an amuse bouche of tuna tartare that was a surprising and delicious start. Next, I had their signature dish "eggs on eggs on eggs" - fried egg sauce, a poached egg, caviar, dill oil, pickled shallots, and a brioche soldier (they brought a second solider for scraping every last bit of this dish from the bowl, but they brought it after the dish - so you can get that perfect picture maybe?). It's a $75 add on but worth it - delicious and their signatured dish (so I didn't feel like I could miss out)!My first course was artichoke agnolotti with wild sorel and aged Parmesan (in the form of a foam). I adored this dish. I smiled as I ate it. Gorgeous and scrumptious. A stunner. Next as my main, I had the roasted lobster with chantarelle and basil, which I enjoyed but was the least wow course of the meal for me. Then for dessert, I sort of had two? I chose the key lime parfait with coconut and chiffon and I did an add on - fresh and matured cheese (a $20 supplement). The dessert was great - great flavors, great textures, gorgeous. The cheese supplement was also great. Did I need it? Probably not. But overall, the coursing and sizes of the courses worked so well, that the meal felt like a great treat without feeling like it was 200% too much food for a day. (There was also a bread and butter service in there somewhere, which was good for a bread and butter service, but I probably could have done without, because everything else was so stunning, I wanted more!) The wine list was fantastic. I decided against the wine pairing because it can sometimes feel like too much wine for me (especially for lunch?), but I had two different glasses of wine (because I wanted to try two of their skin contact options, not because I didn't enjoy the first wine). Their beverage list was really interesting - lots to try. I could say so much about the service. You really feel taken care of. Really kind, really friendly, really attentive, really helpful. They were lovely. The ambiance is great, too. They sat me at a table at the window, so I had a view of the MoMA's Abby Aldrich Rockefeller Sculpture Garden throughout the meal. Great people watching. And the dining room was simple but beautiful. You can see why they have two Michelin stars. As far as treats go, this lived up to all my expectations. Just a fantastic meal and experience - a perfect lunch for a treating myself solo weekend.
