The Laurels

I recently visited The Laurels in the East Village and tried their Mediterranean sandwich, which came with fries and a small cup of ketchup. The sandwich, priced at $21, featured soft, chewy bread filled with sautéed vegetables and a generous amount of sauce. The sauce was a creamy, orange-hued spread, possibly a roasted red pepper and feta sauce, offering a tangy flavor without being overly spicy. While the flavors were enjoyable, the sandwich was quite moist and tended to fall apart, making it a bit messy to eat. The toothpicks helped hold it together, but I had to be cautious with each bite. Any sauce that dripped onto the plate paired nicely with the fries.The service was decent but slightly slow; it took about 20 minutes to receive my order. The atmosphere was cozy, with a trendy sports bar vibe. Neon lights added a fun and modern touch, and multiple TVs were playing different sports channels, making it an inviting spot for fans. The space feels like a great hangout for students or friends catching up over food and drinks.The sandwich was ok, it wasn't extraordinary, especially for $21 by itself or paired with fried.I'd consider returning if there was a discount or promotion. The ambiance is the highlight here, so it's worth visiting if you're nearby and looking for a relaxed place to hang out.

Food: We stopped in here for their daily food special, which happened to be $8 for two tacos on Tuesdays. Their tacos were surprisingly delicious for a place that doesn't specialize in them. I had very low expectations for their tacos, but I would definitely order them again. You can choose two beef and/ or chicken tacos for $8. They also have two shrimp and or short rib tacos for $11. We tried all four and they were all very good, especially the chicken and short rib. I would highly recommend their tacos. Service: Service was great. Our server was very friendly and welcoming. Considering she was so busy, she still came back to check on us and clear our empty dishes throughout the meal.Ambiance: The ambiance in this place is nice. It's well-lit and not too noisy. They had a lot of holiday and Christmas decor as well as holiday music playing when we were there. They have tables for small and larger groups as well as a sofa, coffee table, and chairs around it for a larger group.Overall, I would recommend this restaurant!

First off the food was great, I'll start off with that. We ordered the Thai wings and truffle fries. The fries were a bit overcooked. But the flavor was great. It's also super cute and decorated for the holidays, so that was a nice touch. We arrived as walk ins on a Saturday early evening, say about 5:30ish, the server checked in with us was friendly and gave us second to check out the menu. The next person, who I presume to be the host told us there was a 4 top table available but they'd need it by 7:45. Which was odd, considering the place was not packed at all. There were plenty of seats open. It gave off irritated vibes, which in turn didn't exactly make us feel welcomed.The drinks were also good. They had some great non alcoholic options as well. By the end of our meal, another maybe server or wait staff came to our table before we could even get our coats on and started to spray down and wipe the table. All that to say, as a first time customer, we won't be returning. I can understand if you're anticipating a busy evening, but wasn't a very welcoming atmosphere besides our server who checked in on us periodically. We finished around 6:15. Why mention you need a table almost 3 hours from when you get someone seated? It was just odd.

We came to this comfy Irish pub /bar on a weekend for the brunch and it did not disappoint. The veggie frittata was delicious and the chimichuri sauce was very tasty. The burger came with a side of french fries and was deliciously cooked to perfection. The staff worked very hard to fulfill the needs of every table and at some points he was speed walking to get food and drinks to individuals quickly.

At first glance, The Laurels could've been a great experience--cute ambiance, diverse menu, mocktail options and ability to make last minute reservation for a large group on trivia night (Wednesday 8 pm). But our experience was soured by this restaurant's $20 per person minimum spend rule. One waitress explained that to me at the beginning that this was recommended, but we didn't have to. Then another waitress told us an hour later that we had to on average hit this requirement. At the end, she slapped an extra $50 table upcharge on our receipt. Never in my life have I heard of a minimum spend at a restaurant/bar on a casual trivia night. Sure if it's a party-sized group on a busy night that will take up several tables and require a ton of service, but this was not that. Luckily we were able to convince her to take it off since we had pretty much ordered an item per person, and this expectation isn't customary for all other restaurants/bars I've been to for trivia.Also, one toilet didn't flush; the other one flushed weakly (and couldn't handle any subsequent flushing). My friends rated the food that was ordered--Truffle and Mushroom Flatbread, The Laurel's Burger--6.5/10. So it's passable, but not great.

The Laurels on 14th Street is a fantastic dining destination that exceeded all my expectations. The service was impeccable, with staff providing great recommendations that truly enhanced our dining experience.I used the Pulse app, which offered an incredible deal: both of us received an entrée and a drink each. This made our evening even more enjoyable and budget-friendly, adding great value to the already exceptional experience.The food at The Laurels was absolutely amazing. Each dish was expertly prepared, bursting with flavor, and beautifully presented. The drinks were equally impressive, perfectly crafted to complement our meal.I highly recommend The Laurels for anyone looking for a memorable dining experience on 14th Street. Whether you're using the Pulse app deal or not, this restaurant delivers outstanding service, delicious food, and fantastic drinks.

Really enjoyed a casual Sunday brunch here. The burger was good, cooked exactly medium rare, and had a good amount of bacon. Fries were fresh and tasty. Short rib hash was really good! Service was friendly and quick

Awful place! bartender told me he was the owner but had the personality of a wet week! A complete d'bagfood sucked and the drinks had no Alcohol and sweet as all hell. Don't waste your time go another block to JackI Just saw kevin's respond, There was no " incident" I just thought you were a d'bag like a lot of people in the area think. Probably the main reason your bar won't last another 6 months. Way to take some constructive criticism d'bag

I found this place through the app "Pulsd" where 2 people get 1 entree each and bottomless drinks for $39! I believe you can also find the same deal on Groupon. Reservations were easy to make by dming their instagram or through Resy. It wasn't pretty crowded on Saturday noon so we got to sit where we like. The inside of the restaurant was cute and had ample seating.I went with their eggs benedict and potatoes and thought it was great! I liked how they didn't drown it in hollandaise sauce similar to what other places do. The spicy sriracha hollandaise wasn't too spicy and added a kick of flavor. Although I do with the portions were a little bigger, even by adding a bit more potatoes. The bottomless mimosas were strong to me! After 4 drinks I started feeling "happy." With the pulsd deal I believe you can either choose between mimosas, peach bellinis, and bloody marys. Service was attentive and made sure our glasses were kept full.Bonus: they have super clean restrooms and theres also a nice park 1 block down in case you need to recover lol

Live down the street, always an amazing time at Laurels. Food, wait staff, trivia, everything. Recommend for a nice dinner, brunch, or even some Football on Sunday!
