LUNCH REVIEWAmbiance (5/5): We came on a random weekday for lunch and there was plenty of seating for our picking. The inside is quaint, no frills, bright and low volumes. It felt cozy and homey.Service (5/5): Free hot tea refills throughout the lunch. Despite being super busy, we felt like we were serviced quickly. The waitress was extra friendly and asked if my sister were twins and shared a little about herself too. She made us laugh and welcomed us to dine with them again.Food: For lunch, it not appear like bbq was an option. There were several lunch specials offered!Galbi (5/5): We had the short rib lunch combo with seafood tofu soup. The rib helping was generous and the flavors were on point. Every piece was tender. Both of us were not huge fans of the seafood soup because the chunks of mini clams were overcooked and there was definitely a forward fishy taste.Kam Ja Tang (5/5): spicy pork and potato bone stew was wonderful! The meat was fall off the bone and the spicy level wasn't that bad at all. The soup was super savory.

I order delivery from The Kunjip often. I usually get their Galbi Tang right after getting off a plane - it's just always so comforting after a long trip. My partner gets the Kong Bi Ji, which goes wonderfully with rice. Their banchans can be hit or miss, but usually go well with the items ordered. It's been a while since I've been in their actual restaurant though. The last time, I went to order and pick up a couple of lunch specials around 2:30 PM on a Friday afternoon. When I arrived, the space had a strange smell - not sure if it was their cleaning products. Additionally, the restaurant itself was quite empty but the employees were frazzled. The man who took my order and payment up front was really rude for no reason and almost snapped my card in half trying to make their system work. The wait for food was also quite long. However, their lunch specials are worth it. I ordered: -LA GALBI LUNCH SPECIAL: Their galbi is always so delicious. Well cooked and marinated perfectly. Goes so well with banchan and rice. Highly recommended! -BO SSAM LUNCH SPECIAL: Their Bo ssam is ok. Goes well with the accompanying items. I don't think I would order for the dinner cost but for their lunch special price it's good. All in all, ordering from them for delivery is usually the way to go as the restaurant itself is a bit disorganized.

Quick service. No wait on a Wednesday evening at dinner time (7) and decently full. Food was eh - I didn't love my seafood bibimbop but my friend liked her soondobu so there may be some hit/miss dishes. The banchan was decent & has free refill!

The service here really is the part that needs some help, it's busy and very much get in or get out. It takes some patience but they do try to flip tables as much as possible to keep it moving. It's busy in there but we sat towards the back of the room so didn't seem quiet as loud there but definitely not an empty place.I got their tofu soup and yuk gae jang and asked for the tofu soup to be really spicy since yuk gar jang is already supposed to be somewhat spicy by default. The tofu soup was a bit spicier than usual but I did have to ask if they more chilis or jalapenos or something to add to get an extra kick to it.Their banchan did stand out to me because they had the little beans and I really like thise for the texture. Not a lot of places offer this one and it's definitely an acquired taste but I really enjoyed them and asked them to give me more a few times while I was there.

# Overall:There's many places to get Korean food in ktown, but The Kunjip definitely is one of the better ones in the area. I haven't tried the bbq menu, but definitely can't go wrong with the classics. # AmbianceThe Kunjip is a staple in the heart of Ktown. There's a definite no frills vibe, a very simple but appreciated approach that creates a homely atmosphere.# Food and DrinkBanchanThe assortment of banchan changes each time I'm here, but the star this time was definitely the japchae. The assortment of legumes was something I would've guessed would be part of banchan, but it still worked in well.SamgyetangThis has become my go-to dish here. The soup is just incredibly hearty and provides me the illusion of healthy eating. The chicken is very tender and is stuffed with rice and chestnuts. You're provided a container of salt so you can salt to your own taste. No complaints at all.Dogani MoochimAfter discovering dogani moochim from Gahwa in Flushing, it's been on our radar on any Korean menu. This rendition was different for us in that we had to mix the cow knee with the stir fry ourselves. The sauce was sweeter than necessary, so it didn't match our expectations, but perhaps the bar was set too high. This dish was still very tasty and we enjoyed the pear slices in the stir fry.

After a long day of traveling and walking the city, a friend and I decided we wanted to grub on some Korean BBQ. We went to K-town and walked into a few restaurants but weren't feeling the vibes. As we were looking for another spot we walked right in front of The Kunjip. We decided to go in and I'm soooo glad we did. We were welcomed immediately and told to go upstairs to get our table. It did take a little bit for someone to direct us to the table and to get the menu, but once we placed our order the food just magically showed up at the table. ( they were so quick and smooth with it).We ordered wine from the menu but they didn't have them readily available so we opted for Lychee juice and lemonade. As for the food, we ordered the marinated short ribs (Galbi Gui, which came with steamed eggs, white rice, japchae, and banchan), and the seafood pancake (Hae Mool Pajun). For two people, this was a lot of food. The Galbi Gui was so flavorful, tender and juicy. I would go back just for that. The seafood pancake was massive, had a lot of seafood in it and was also really good. For the price and the quality, I gave the food 10/10.As for the overall experience, the inside of the restuarant is very "family style" and they played classical music for a relaxed mood. The staff are the ones who cooks the meat for you, so if you're looking for the experience of cooking it yourself, i'm not sure they'll allow it. Oh, and when you end your meal, they give you a small tea cup of cinnamon tea, which Ive never had before and it was magical.I'm not sure why the rating for this place is so low; I think it's a GEM.

This restaurant is a chill place in the midst of Ktown craziness. The food is not bad. The server seemed to get annoyed whenever we asked for something, but it's possible he was tired. Overall, good place for late night drinks and 안주

Kunjip is a popular Korean restaurant, located in Koreatown. The restaurant offers traditional Korean flavors. I came here for lunch and ordered their steamed egg, fried rice, and fish soup. The food is well-seasoned and comes in generous portions, and the banchan (side dishes) are fresh. The restaurant is popular for its classic Korean BBQ experience. Friendly staffs and inside feels cozy. It's a great spot for a casual dining. It can get crowded during peak hours.
