RATING: 3.5/5 - Thai Son gets the job done. Perhaps it used to be better. I like that this spot is spacious and bright. The pho is alright, not the best, but, again, gets the job done. I recently ordered their BBQ Pork Banh Mi, which came out to ~$15.50! (A bit pricey for a banh mi, if you ask me.) However, I was so hungry that I devoured it - it was delicious! The bread was nice and crispy and pork was grilled nicely. The staff here is meh. I ordered my banh mi to go, sat on the side for over 10 min, and had to go up to the counter to ask for it. The banh mi had been sitting there, but I wasn't made aware that it was ready.. Anyway, I personally prefer Nha Trang One a bit more, right next door, for their pho, imo.

I came here one evening without a reservation and was seated right away. The service here is a bit spotty but after you order, the food comes out pretty fast.I got the bun cha gio when I went and it was pretty solid. The egg rolls were crispy and SOOO big. The veggies (which were at the bottom of the bowl, not quite sure why as it made the dish difficult to eat) were fresh and plentiful. I would come back to try some of their other Vietnamese dishes.

Just ok. Spring rolls came out immediately and were a bit dry, obviously having been sitting out. Seafood pho was good, lots of seafood. Nice interior, attentive staff.

Had the bun cha, made famous by the Bourdain / former President Obama No Reservations episode. This platter comes with a lot of protein, noodles, plenty of fresh herbs and a bowl of golden nuoc cham for some DIY lettuce wrap making. My coworker joined me and I was able to try a few bites of his bun rieu--super savory tomato and fish broth with plenty of floating pillows of tofu and meatball farce. Service was very standard for Chinatown New York. Not sure how busy this place gets at peak weekend times because I went on a weekday between lunch and dinner. Lots of solo diners around the 5 o'clock hour but the dining room slowly fills up around prime.

Solid Vietnamese spot! It's been there for over 10 years and I used to come here all the time when I lived close by. They also make smoothies! I love their pho soup, crispy noodles and of course the spring rolls. Their menu is extensive and it's impossible to try it all. Portions are big too so you'll never leave hungry.Service is okay, quick without extra interactions. But they always refill your water/tea.Solid! Not fancy but is good!

Thai son was good Vietnamese food but when the restaurant was Na Trang it was better. I went in a weekday at prime time around 1230 and the place was packed with people. The ambiance was average with basic tables and chairs organized to fit as many people as possible. The holiday decorations looked nice, but it is not a fancy restaurant. The BBQ pork chops were delicious, flavorful, and cooked to perfection. They came with a rice noodle soup that was piping hot and delicious as well. The pork fried Vietnamese rolls were good but there was hardly any lettuce to wrap them in and the dipping sauce was not that flavorful. The crispy squid calamari was okay and a little chewy, with a mediocre sauce. The portions were good and a descent place to stop for lunch outside the courthouse. The staff was running around to service all the tables and were busy. Our lunch orders for the two people in the party cam out at different times (more than 10 minutes apart) and one person was done before the other got their food.

I come here just for takeout usually- for the grilled pork chops and the rainbow ice. In my most recent visit, I decided to sit in and enjoy the rainbow ice. The rainbow ice is so yummy! Also had the coconut water with fresh coconut meat,

Nothing crazy nothing amazing about this place. Been a long time since I had Vietnamese and this was nearby. It's hard for me to find an amazing Vietnamese place coming from the Bay Area. San Jose definitely can't compare. It was alright. It hit my Vietnamese fix.

Pretty good Vietnamese food. It's hectic. The music lets you know the food is authentic.
