Temakase

My friend, who lives in NYC, has had Temakase on her list of places to try; otherwise, I probably wouldn't have known about it. We had a reservation for 12:30p, and until about 2p the resto wasn't terribly busy for a Saturday at lunch.My friend and I each other four spicy rolls and a crispy rice. The hand rolls are made in front of you behind the counter, and once you finish one you are given your next. I didn't find the spicy rolls terribly spicy, but each were delicious! My friend doesn't like scallops and was easily able to switch out that particular roll for another.Service was quick and friendly. It was a chill, causal atmosphere. Each paid less than $40 with tip, so I felt like that was a fair price. I didn't feel like the sushi skimpy on ingredients or quality of said ingredients. I left full but not stuffed.I enjoyed this resto and would be back!

We arrived here for lunch right when they opened, and other people were trickling in, but we were still able to secure our seats at the bar. The bar is where you want to sit if you want to see all of your temakis prepared! Food comes out as it is made, so it was nice to focus on one hand roll at at time to really take in all of the flavors. Onto the food! We ordered the Spicy I Could Eat which includes the Salmon, Blue Crab, and Scallop Hand Roll. We also ordered the Miso Avocado Crispy Rice, Spicy Tuna Crispy Rice, and Sweet Chili Rock Shrimp. Honestly, I was a little skeptical and nervous about the freshness because all of the fish mixtures were a paste in a tube that were put into each hand roll, but we were pleasantly surprised. The hand rolls that stood out were the Truffle Blue Crab for the aromatic truffle flavors and delicious fresh crab. The Salmon was pretty good too, with slight citrusy undertones due to the yuzu flavors. The Scallop was also yummy and tender with a perfect balance of sweet and spicy. The Sweet Chili Rock Shrimp was a giant piece of deep fried shrimp and the chili sauce tasted like a thai chili sauce. It was good but I wasn't too impressed. Crispy Rice is one of my favorites and I thought the Miso Avocado Crispy Rice was my favorite thing of the entire meal. The miso avocado mixture was creamy, rich, and slightly sweet and laid perfectly on top of the crispy rice. The Spicy Tuna one was also good and the tuna very fresh, but it was fairly standard. Overall, for the price point and the size of the hand rolls, I think this was a good deal. The ambience and service was amazing too. I definitely recommended this spot to my friends local to the area because it is worth trying out!

Food was great. A friend and I got the "starving" menu with came with 5 handrolls. The blue crab handroll really stuck out to me. It was amazing and so sweet and tasty. The rest of the rolls were great too. It's a little pricey, but in my opinion, it's worth spending for.The service was really good and the staff was friendly. I got my water refilled hella times because the waiter was so diligent. Very cool. I got to stay hella hydrated WThe inside has a nice ambiance with a very relaxed and minimalist decor. Honestly helped me focus on the food and enjoy it.Definitely come check it out, W handrolls

Love this place ! The food is tasty and fresh, the chef is really nice and the service team of servers are very nice too. The ambiance of this place is very chill and pretty.

We had a good experience here! They were training some of the waitstaff, so it took a little bit longer, but overall still a great experience. It didn't feel as bougie as some omakase places that we've been to before, but I didn't expect it to. I thought the food was good, the fish was good quality, and for the price, you're really getting a very good deal! I liked that you could mix and match the handroll sets. They did bring me the wrong handroll once, but very quickly fixed it. I also thought that it was a good amount of food--not too much, but not too little. I felt satisfied with the meal, with a little bit of space left for dessert. Overall, I think I'd definitely come back. For those prices, it's hard to find a better sushi deal.

The food was fresh and tasty, and the service was great!! The interior is cute but the only note I would give on that is, it didn't appear that clean. The front area/door and the chairs/floors were visibly dirty. Other than that, it was a great experience!

Great food and choice if fish. Easy to get seating if you go at off hours and solid portions overalll. Really friendly staff and just let them know if you need anything.

Phenomenal fresh sushi and hand rolls. I am always incredibly impressed by their presentation, efficiency, and the freshness of the food. I've eaten here twice and I will definitely be back.

I came here to grab a bite, and I was super hungry. I had the hangry + 3 extra rolls and a beer. After that, I was really stuff. Fish was really fresh and yummy. Service was excellent, and I didn't feel rushed. Overall, a good place to come with friends or on a date.

Spectacular hand rolls made right in front of you. Colorful decor and tasteful lighting. Staff is very attentive and fast. Caviar crispy rice stole the show for us. Will come back again.
