This is the closest that I've ever felt while eating some Moroccan food here in NYC, everything was delicious and on point. My friends and I got the Tanjia, Refissa, Chicken with olives and Meatballs with eggs. If I had to put them in order: 1- Chicken with Olives (not in the pictures ): This plate felt I was eating at home, I have no remarks.2- Meatballs with eggs(No pic): Taste wise it was great, I would have preferred smaller balls but more of them, rather than very big ones and only a few. I will also add more eggs.3- Tanjia: The meat was soft with nice spices but little bit off from the classic Tanjia, as Im from Marrakesh.4- Refissa: Could be better, the chicken was dry.Great service overall, as the waiter was very nice. Lastly for the vibe, I would put some Moroccan music to enhance the experience to the fullest instead of western music.

Short review/best dishes- Mechoui Chicken, Tangia, Warm Fava Bean Salad, Mini Lamb Meatballs (off menu)I was at this restaurant a few days ago with a group. The staff was nice allowing people to sit down early which was good as it was pouring outside and the main guy helping us was very friendly as was I believe the owner. They filled the waters when needed but they unfortunately took a while to bring serving forks and spoons and we had to remind them every time new dishes came out. The food is alright and a bit expensive for the quality but in terms of prices, blame Tribeca. I would say that the quality overall is a bit better than at the long running Cafe Mogador though I would say a lot worse than the unfortunately now closed La Shuk as well as some spots in Queens. We shared the following dishes and spent around $50 per person for three appetizers and five main dishes among six people without alcohol or other drinks. The Casablanca Spread arrived first listed as having Zalouk eggplant dip, harissa, olive tapenade, warm pita bread though there was also cherry tomato, roasted carrots, and oranges which was a nice touch. The zalouk or zaalouk was earthy and tasty being very similar to the Middle Eastern version of moussaka while the olive tapenade had some nuttiness I believe from walnuts if I'm not mistaken and was otherwise slightly salty and sweet. I like harissa and this was standard and tasty. It was a good spread and would be worth it to split amongst a few.Another appetizer was the Mini Lamb Meatballs which isn't listed on the menu there but consists of spice lamb meatballs, arugula, lemon & green olive sauce, and (more) warm pita bread. It might not be on the menu currently but it was very tasty and had some light earthiness to it and a tad bit of sweetness. The meatballs were also fork tender and I wouldn't mind if it was back on the menu soon as it was one of the better dishes. The last appetizer was the Warm Fava Bean Salad with artichoke hearts, cherry tomato, green olive, and a harissa-lemon vinaigrette. The fava beans were in-between soft and hard which presumably was the purpose of the cooking method and added a good texture. It was a bit salty from the olives and vinaigrette but fine and was plenty big enough to share. We also got two of the Mechoui dishes. Mechoui/Méchoui refers simply to a spit roasted dish and the better of the two by a lot was the Mechoui Chicken with roasted chicken, saffron butter, and garlicky sautéed spinach. The chicken was very moist and tender and wasn't overly sweetened with well seasoned spinach and a tasty sauce. Unfortunately the Mechoui Lamb Shank with roasted lamb shank, honey harissa glaze, creamy potato purée, and pepper drops was only OK but that was mostly because of the protein. The lamb shank was not cooked right as there was a little bit too much rendered fat so it had a bit of a chew to it and this combined with it being a tad too sweet for my liking made it a bit unappetizing. If the protein was cooked properly, it would have been excellent as the potato purée was very tasty almost tasting like there was some type of cheese blended into it due to its creaminess. My favorite of the main dishes was the Lamb Tangia with smen, saffron, potato, onion, preserved lemon, and raisins. The lamb was cooked wonderfully being very tender with a bit of sourness from the preserved lemon. The little bits of raisins in there added a touch of sweetness and the potatoes had a slightly firm texture. The Spicy Ratatouille Tagine with seasonal vegetables, chickpeas, tomato jam, and harissa was only alright. The menu lists that the dish was spicy but I wouldn't say that at all. It was kind of almost refreshing compared to the rest of the dishes which were either a bit salty or a bit too sweet as this was just plainer. The tomato base was nice and the veggies were well cooked but it lacked spice. My least favorite of the bunch was the Honey Pomo Chicken with pomegranate reduction, honey, harissa, kalamata olives, onion, raisins, and almonds. I usually don't mind Moroccan food being a bit sweet as I know it comes with the package but this was a bit of overkill that was more on the verge of cloying rather than comforting. The chicken was cooked very well though and the olives added the little bit of sourness but otherwise I disliked it and as we left a good amount of this dish left (along with a bit of the mechoui lamb,) I presume others had very similar feelings. The food here was hit and miss. The staff is nice and I hope they do well but I likely wouldn't stop by again. As Mogador got a 3.1, this place gets a 3.3.

3.75?Casablanca Spread - 3 tiny spread for $18. Tasted fine not very special.Honey & Stonefruit Lamb Tagine - I don't usually like lamb but this was very good with some sweetness. Not gamey.Would come back for Tagine. The restaurant may need better ventilation so we don't walk out smell like Tagine

Made a reservation through Tara Kitchen's website. I was greeted by Horacio and seated right away. My friend and I ordered the fava bean salad (unique and delicious) and scallops mezze. The scallops were a little overcooked for my liking but enjoyed the lightly dressed arugula salad underneath. For entrees, we ordered the lamb kefta tagine and one of the chicken specials. Overall, we enjoyed our experience. Horacio provided 10/10 service.

This is a cozy spot in tribeca with comfort dishes that have a moroccan flair, many are vegan, halal and free of gluten, nuts, dairy and soy! Our server was attentive and friendly and helped give us recommendations! What we tried: Moroccan shepherds pie $25 Spinach w/ oranges tagine $22 Boneless chicken $20 Moroccan mint tea with honey teapot $10 You absolutely have to get the Moroccan shepherds pie - it was nicely spiced with some light heat. The lamb is delicious and tender! Love the fig jam on top that makes it slightly sweet! the spinach with oranges tagine was a really homey comforting dish but the oranges were bitter - think it was by chance we didn't get a sweet orange but i can imagine the dish being amazing with. the boneless chicken was tender and nicely seasoned vegetables. Rice is also seasoned with spices! we got the Moroccan mint tea with honey in a teapot which was fun to sip on. it was kinda herbal and had a slightly bitter aftertaste but it grew on me.

The ambiance and decoration of the restaurant immediately captures your attention, and the service is to be commended. Unfortunately, that is the extent of positives I can note.My order, consisting of a lamb burger and a cous-cous with chicken, took a peculiarly long time to arrive from time of order. Upon being served such, the cous-cous being $40, mind you, I was astounded that I could be served something so unequivocally, objectively terrible. The ingredients seemed borderline to slightly past; the dish lacked any flavor or noteworthy execution; and numerous components were overcooked. A simple glaze, sauce, or accoutrement would have even gone a long way. I am flabbergasted to have had such an unpleasant experience in such a competitive market. My lamb burger, while not exceptional and quite pedestrian, was not shockingly bad; and cost less than half the price at $18. The side of chips, however, compels me toward a diatribe absent any positive declarations.I cannot offer a recommendation in favor of trying this restaurant, even if as a one-off to satisfy curiosity.

Hubby found Tara Kitchen as he was craving authentic tangine, I only know that the cooking method and that the pot is different, he was way more excited about this as he has previously visited Morocco. Tara Kitchen makes good flavorful dishes, however the service does not match up to the good food. Tara Kitchen has high ceilings, however not many tables, about 10 tables, so rather small restaurant with a bar in front. Only 1 other table was dining, so pretty empty, however it was only 5:30pm. We had an issue as hubby found online that there was a happy hour menu, however when we got there, our server said there was no HH special and this would not be included on the weekend! We said that it states on the website there were HH specials daily, the server then went back and said that it was only at the bar area. Mind you, there is no one at the bar! It made no sense. Finally, the server said that we could order HH specials at the table. After all that, it already left a sour taste in our experience. We shared the fava beans salad, lamb tangine, seafood tangine and the seared eggplant dish. Loved the fava beans salad, it was warm and had a spicy kick to this. And I absolutely loved the lamb tangine too! The lamb was so tender. The dishes arrived without the tangine top, just the bottom plate and also came with aromatic rice. The dishes were very filling, so be prepared to be stuffed!Another service issue to point out, at the end of the night, as we received our check, the server had the audacity to ask when we were leaving. There are several tables open and I could not believe they were pushing us out so quickly! TIP- If you pay cash, you can get a 4% discount! It is just such a pity, for a restaurant with good food, the service was not up to par.

After a walk from the Brooklyn bridge I had a great lunch at Tara Kitchen. I ordered the fava bean salad and shepherd's pie with lamb. The salad had nice favas, artichoke hearts, olives, arugula in a mildly spicy dressing as requested. The lamb pie, topped with mashed potatoes was perfect and was served hot with warm pita. Good service in a relaxing atmosphere. Loved it.

This restaurant caught my attention because it's close to my workplace. After leaving the gym, I decided to give it a try. The service was good, and the waiter who attended me was attentive and professional. I ordered the Lamb Tangia as it was my first experience trying Moroccan food and I wanted something authentic. The presentation was appealing, but unfortunately, it was a bit too salty for my taste.
