I think this is a must go when up in the theater district. My wife and I were looking for some good food, a little change of pace from the pizza and pasta we were having. The spot was awesome! It is great for groups and it can also be quite intimate as it is perfectly lit. The bar area is perfectly situated to have some more action on it. The service is great, very attentive and give great options when asking about the food and drink menu. I highly suggest that if you are a burger fan I would get their double smash cheese burger as it is incredible! Drinks wise you cannot go wrong with any selection.

Aww man, I wish I'd left this review earlier because there was a really hot bartender with ginger hair that I wanted to flirt with through Yelp (only flirt because he said he had a whole entire girlfriend).Anyway, service was great, food was slamming, and ambiance was on point. And that super cute bartender who was very kind and made a fantastic mocktail for this sober sista made this place top notch! Now the table of unruly pilgrims who couldn't accept that last call was in fact last call, particularly when told to them by the fine ass bouncer...well that's another story for another day.

Well I have mixed feelings and I would really like to give a five star rating , but just can't. First the positives. The interior is very warm, inviting and attractive. Low lights and cozy feeling. A nice bar and various sections to eat at tables. Has a nice menu with many vegetarian options. I appreciate putting a bottle of water on the table as well. I had probably the best vegiburger I have ever had. They make it " in house" and I really enjoyed it! The vegiburger was $20 and it would have been nice to have like a little salad or fries come with it.Next the negative: we were having lunch before a 2 pm play and so we needed the food to be delivered in timely manner. Three of the meals came in reasonable time and so, since we had a play to make and figured the fourth dish would arrive soon, we began to eat. We all finished our meal and still NO fourth meal. We asked repeatedly for the meal and what was happening? Staff was very pleasant, and said repeatedly, that it will come as soon as ready. We never really got an explanation as to the delay. Keep in mind that the restaurant was relatively empty at this time, really not busy. Finally our 4 th person, said, just cancel the order and give me a roll to eat, so we can leave. They finally brought the salad, 40 minutes after ordering. The manager came over, did apologize and took it off the bill, which was reasonable. But this whole thing definitely ruined our dining experience. Waiting and having to keep asking for the meal to be delivered. So, due to the slow service, which we were never given an explanation, I don't think I would return. ( although I have to say, I really LOVED that vegiburger!). Unfortunately I didn't take any pictures due to being in a hurry.

Fantastic Midtown cocktail bar with an old school beer pub vibe but classy modern updates and invariably terrific service5 star service: on several visits here, even if very very crowded the staffers here are always polite and friendly5 star food / drink: for pub grub the food is quite good. Their strong point is the bar aspect though.5 star ambience: it's the best amalgam of old and new you'll likely find in New York: at first glance it feels 200 years old but there's an obvious swanky modern elegance too

Multiple vegetarian options. The restaurant is nice with top-notch interior design. The environment feels warm and welcoming. However, I went there with kids, ages 12 - 18. As I walked in, I realized that Tanner Smith's probably wasn't the best choice for kids. It wasn't child UNfriendly per se, but it definitely has more of an adult vibe. I paused. They paused. Nevertheless, the host invited us in and assured us that it was fine for kids to be there during certain hours. We were seated right away, and I immediately loved the "You Can't Be Half A Gangster" coaster! I want a shirt with that on it!The restaurant bottomless drinks for 90 minutes with the purchase of a brunch entree. Had I been with friends and not children, I totally would have ordered the bottomless mimosa. Instead, we ordered the warm banana bread with whipped brown sugar butter, buttermilk souffle pancakes with pecans, the house-made veggie burger with truffle parmesan fries, and the fried egg sandwich with jack cheese on ciabatta bread (without the bacon) with the tater tots. I had a Dolce Vita cocktail and my daughter had a ginger mocktail with mint. The banana bread was served warm and was very good. The veggie burger was fine, but the truffle parmesan fries were actually quite good- crispy and delicious. My daughter found the egg sandwich underwhelming, but the tater tots were okay. The pancakes were very heavy, but flavorful. The service was just "okay." Really, the service wasn't great - or even good. Our server was slow and inattentive. He didn't seem thrilled to have our table, but he wasn't openly rude. Over all, it was still a reasonably good experience.

We were in the mood for burgers and stumbled upon this place on Yelp. We did not have a reservation and got sat in 10 minutes. What caught our eye was the ambiance. It looked like a great looking spot. Upon arriving there are two rooms in the main area. The bar and then a dining room in the back. We are glad we got sat in the back by the dining room because the music was not as loud and there weren't people standing. Fun fact there was also a hidden bar downstairs by the bathrooms. The burger was 10/10 and highly recommended. The Caesar wrap tasted a little too fishy for my liking 6/10. The server was great, just wish he had communicated he left and someone took over for him. We were stuck looking to get our bill for over 10 minutes.

Let me start off by saying that is place is beautiful. The aesthetic was gorgeous and based on other reviews I heard I was excited to have breakfast there. This is my personal experience that I decided to share. I did not like the food. The food all looked great but none of it was tasty to me. That's fine, it happens. My biggest issue was with the service because we did not receive any. Our waitress was very friendly however we had to flag her down for every interaction after the initial one. We had to flag her down to place our order even though we told her she could come back after 2 minutes. She never checked on us, not even ONCE. She didn't stop by to see how the food was or to see if we received everything. We had to flag her down for salt and pepper, had to flag her for the bill. We had piles of food leftover and she didn't inquiry about if we enjoyed anything or if we wanted a go to box. I had to quickly ask her because she tried to leave immediately. I did see her stop and interact and assist her other tables. Maybe we were in the forgotten section or maybe she was super swamped. Either way when I go out to eat I intentionally want human interaction and we didn't receive that. I'm disappointed. But once again..my experience might not be yours.

Tanner Smiths is bubbling with excitement and positive energy. It's wonderful to try a new restaurant that exceeds one's expectations. Tanner Smiths is undoubtedly one of those restaurants and I plan to return with friends and family ans here's why. The location. Is so easy to get to via MTA, just a few short steps from the A, C, or E. That said, once you arrive at the restaurant, you will be met by the wonderful hostess who will invite you to your table, where you will be treated to an enjoyable experience of excellently prepared food and uproarious ambiance. Additionally, you will be taken by the well-dressed and friendly wait staff. There is so much to love about Tanner Smiths; I feel the restaurant has a really cool speakeasy/prohibition feel. What a blast. Well, I had the chicken and waffles. It's the best chicken and waffles I've ever had in NY. Period. The dinks are fire. Try the one in the teacup. You will thank me later. Well, as you can tell, I'm a big fan. Try Tanner Smiths with a friend, and you both will be too.

This place was packed when we got there! It's deceptively big, most people were at the bar. The tables were located in the back, the vibes were cozy and romantic.I got the smoked cheese burger with a side of truffle parmesan fries. The burger was good, no complaints. The fries tasted like regular fries, I'd skip them next time. My drink was well made and I really enjoyed it!
