Excellent omakase experience in LES, especially considering the price. Reservations are made at set times so that the whole bar is seated and begins together. There are tables for people who don't have reservations, but seating there isn't in good view of the chefs preparing the meal. The staff was very friendly and helpful. We really enjoyed watching the chefs as they put together our sushi. The 15 course omakase includes 3 appetizers, 11 pieces of nigiri, and 1 hand roll at the end. After the omakase concludes you have the opportunity to buy extra pieces. Standouts were the oyster with yuzu foam, the miso branzino, and the amberjack (appetizers), the fatty tuna with caviar (we ordered seconds of that), the seared king salmon, the uni, the scallop, and the hand roll. At this point I've named like half the menu. But it really was a great experience with delicious, fresh fish. I recommend the Dasai 39 if you're in the mood for sake. They also allow BYOB if you have a bottle you'd prefer to bring. Great choice for date night or enjoying a unique dining option with a friend.

One of the best meals I've ever had. Every single piece was mind-blowing. The chef was also so sweet, and we got to talk to him a bit about his career as a chef. The counter seating is super cozy and cute, and I love how intimate the place feels. I came here for my birthday dinner, and the staff presented me with a handwritten card and a small bottle of sake. The handwritten card was so incredibly sweet, and it started my experience off on a great note.We didn't realize the place was BYOB (we will definitely be bringing a beverage next time), so we got a bottle of their yuzu sake. Absolutely delicious. So refreshing!Like I said, every single piece was amazing. There were three appetizers, 11 nigiri pieces, and one handroll (total of 15 courses). At $89, this place is a great deal. The appetizers were all so delicious, and I was super surprised that one of them came with two very sizable slices of fish. Generous, indeed! And onto the nigiri. At other omakase places, I've felt that in general, everything was good and there were a few standout pieces. I'm not kidding when I say that every single piece was astounding. The fish was so fresh, it just melted in your mouth. The flavor pairings were immaculate. The tuna/caviar piece felt like liquid gold in my mouth. I usually hate scallop at omakase, but their scallop nigiri changed me for the better. I cannot say better things about this meal. It was the perfect way to celebrate my birthday and I am counting down the days until I'll be back.

As someone who's had their fair share of omakase experiences in NYC, Takumi Omakase is by far one of the best omakase places I have ever been to. You know an omakase place is good when they don't have to do anything super special to the fish to really highlight just how fresh each piece is. For the quality of fish you get, $89 for 15 courses is 100% worth it. My boyfriend and I treated our friends to a meal here during one of our most recent visits. My absolute favorites were the the Kuramoto oyster (I've never had an oyster with yuzu... it make it taste so light and refreshing!), salmon, eel, scallop, and sea bream, but I'm not kidding when I say every piece was spectacular. This place is BYOB, but we also got the Dassai Sake, which paired really well with the omakase. Honestly, I'm shocked that it was so easy to get a reservation to this place last minute. I left this place in a giddy sort of feeling that you only get when you've had a meal that has really shocked you. Definitely recommend to anyone that wants to try omakase in the city and 10/10 would go again.

This place was excellent for an omakase dinner. I recommended coming early to get a seat at the bar. I didn't know this so we can right on time for our reservation and we're not able to sit at the bar. I love how they have appetizers to ease you into the courses. The oyster was amazing and soooo flavorful. The second appitizer was sashimi and was the freshest cut of delicious dish. Next was the warm cod that melted in your mouth. Then came the sushi pieces. All so delicious and flavorful. Everything was so fresh and presented beautifully. The restaurant is dimly lit and romantic. The staff was very friendly and fun. Even though we didn't sit by the bar I could see some of what the chefs were doing from afar. Great experience I would come again to get a bar seat!

We booked Takumi on Resy for a weekday and we did their 8:45 seating which was apparently their last for the evening. They accommodated my shellfish allergy which was great! Our sushi chef was great at giving us enough info about each item we were getting. Some favorites were the otoro, the oyster appetizer and the unagi hand roll at the end. I think about the unagi fondly to this day. It's a small place with maybe 14ish bar seats and a few tables. Not sure if they seat you if you dont make a reservation, but they do have a time limit for seating so they can clear out for upcoming groups. The best part? This place is was $89 a person, which is completely unheard of for an omakase place in NYC. Cheap didnt mean bad or anything, it was fantastic, felt like great value and I will absolutely come back here again.

Food: 6/10 Was influenced by tiktok sadly...don't believe everything you see online. I would say the oyster starter was my favorite dish. Each piece had me feeling like something was missing. I went to an omakase the day after and realized that the quality of the fish here is not the same as what I have had at previous places. Felt hungry after and did need a second meal after this one. I would say that the meal here was pretty average, nothing special and not something to come back for especially at a price point close to $100 a person. FYI It's BYOB.Service: 9/10 nice waiters and staffAmbiance: Cute omakase area with a few tables in the back. One bathroom to use for customers.

The omakase was straightforward and reasonably priced, but none of the fish selections particularly stood out or left a lasting impression. Overall, it was decent, but nothing exceptional.

The ambiance and intimate setting really made for a great dining experience. The chef and staff were amazing. We had the 13 course Omakase and every dish was unique and delicious. We ended up even ordering extras at the end of our favorite dishes. Highly recommend Takumi and will be back.

My boyfriend brought me here for Valentine's Day and it was the best dinner date spot ever! Super cozy and intimate spot with delicious food. We got the 15 courses menu ($89) and sat at the bar where we watched the chef carefully assemble each piece of perfection and put on a show! He explained to us what each piece was and also asked us for our preferences in terms of rice/wasabi ratio! Loved that he also was attentive to what we liked/didn't like and told us how to best enjoy each piece. Everything was super fresh and delicious, especially the uni because I've had uni at other places where it tasted fishy :( Will definitely come back again! It's BYOB and you definitely need to make a reservation if you want to sit at the bar which I highly suggest because it's a wonderful experience!
