This sando shop is a must try. Made the trek out from the other side of Brooklyn to give this spot a try. If you're reading this, I'd highly recommend you do the same and make a day of it out in Greenpoint! We were restaurant hopping so we only tried the Ton-Katsu Sando. This was one of the best sandos I've had in a while and definitely one of the best if not top sando in NY. I'd highly recommend you eat the sandwich while it's still pipping hot as they have a ton of space for seating with a back room and small outdoor area that would be great had it not been the middle of winter. It's also not as crowded as we were expecting likely due to it being quite cold out.Sandoooo- crispy, juicy, flavorful, savory, and saucy. Literally no better combos in a well put together sandwich which this tonkatsu definitely had. Can't speak to any other items on the menu, but definitely go with this to start! The staff is also great! Staff at the front taking our order was quite nice and welcoming and someone brought our sando to us quite far back in the restaurant even though they gave us a buzzer so we didn't have to go up and retrieve it.Check it outttt!

I popped in here on a cold and rainy Sunday as I've passed by it numerous times and have wanted to try it for a while. When you walk in, it is very tranquil with lots of wood, and a really cute seating area in the back. They have a good selection of sandos to choose from, along with fries and other small menu items. I got the Korokke and it had a great flavor profile and the milk bread was delicious. My only complaint was that it was falling apart and I ended up having to use a fork. The service was friendly, and my sandwich came out pretty quickly. I would definitely come back here again!

I showed up on a Sunday at 1 pm and the moment I walked in I felt like I stepped into a Tokyo shop. I love this addition in greenpoint. I had the classic ton katsu sando and it was phe-no-me-nal. From the first bite it caused happiness endorphins to circulate around my brain. The crunchiness of the tatsu, the softness of the bread, the tangy and fresh crispiness of the slaw. Wow. What a happy bite. I am guessing it was the time but I didn't understand why this place wasn't bombarded. It had customers but we need to create buzz on this happy spot. I need to find a way to teleport as well. The merch is cute too! Everything about this place is great

If I could give this place six stars I would.Might be cliche to say, but the vibes were immaculate. Coming out of a blustery and icy NYC day, we were greeted with the smell of fresh milk bread, low key vibes and a incredibly friendly and helpful server. The menu had a good variety of sandwiches and other bites, but it was a concise and specialized menu. You're going there to get yourself a delicious sando and a great drink. We ordered our sandos, chips and beverages and were surpised to find a cozy and well heated back tent, complete with camping furniture and benches. We all greatly enjoyed our food with some great sake, and just warmed up and relaxed. Service was quick and helpful, they had made a mistake with one drink and instantly fixed it without us asking. Nice bathroom as well which is a plus in the city. The only warning I would say is most of the seating is low and a bit tight, so if you have a group with mobility issues just keep that in mind.Absolutely loved this place, was the perfect lunch in between shopping.

Been wanting to try this place for a while and finally went with my husband Sunday. There's plenty of seats in the back and they have outdoor seating as well. We called in advance and they allowed us to bring our dog. The outdoor space had a Japanese garden vibe and we loved it. We ordered the chicken katsu sando, fish katsu sando, potato croquette, drip coffee, and yuzu highball. The chicken katsu sando was good, got a nice crisp and horseradish sauce paired it well. I wasn't a big fan of the fish katsu sandwich, everything fell apart as I was eating it and there was no texture and not much flavor. Would skip the potato croquette as it lacked flavor as well. I did enjoy the yuzu highball and my husband liked the ice drip coffee.

Delicious food that might be a wait but worth it especially for on the go. Filling and full of umami flavor. The egg sando is so far is my favorite! But the pork is a good runner up. Their curly chips are best eaten fresh. Service is fairly quick and the place seems small and tight to dine in so I never tried. Would come back but it can get costly as itll add up over $10.

This has to be the best sandwich I've ever had. The fluffy milk bread paired with crunchy katsu, topped with a sweet and savory sauce is literally a heaven-sent combo. Taku Sando was such a great choice for a cold day, and I would definitely recommend you all to try it out! It's tucked by the water in Greenpoint, and makes a fun day of exploring the area after satisfying your food cravings.

After ordering your food, grab a spot in their backyard patio area - very cute with some cozy camping chairs and even some platformed mat areas. There's also charcoal fire pits to keep you warm. The Tonkatsu Sando was very filling with sweet-savory filling but the chips were more memorable in my opinion - they're like having round potato chips but with more umami! We tried the weekend special cumin-spice version and the dashi-furikake version, which we enjoyed better.

Came to Taku Sando in the afternoon on Saturday because I'm always on the search to try out katsu sandwiches. We ordered the Ton-Katsu Sando ($16) and Chicken-Katsu Sando ($16).The Ton-Katsu Sando is made with pork panko katsu, homemade shokupan, shredded cabbage, karashi-mustard mayo sauce, and house sauce. The Chicken-Katsu Sando is made with chicken breat and thigh panko katsu, homemade shokupan, shredded cabbage, karashi-mustard mayo sauce, and house sauce. Both were good, but I preferred the Ton-Katsu.There is a good amount of seating inside and outside. I didn't mind the cost given that I did enjoy the sandwich, but it took around 25min to receive the order. It was pretty slow.

Food 8/10Ordered an egg sandwich for takeout, and it reminded me of Japanese convenience stores, despite being 10x more expensive. Factoring in the price, knowing what is offered in Asia, would put this at a 6, but because I cannot go back there, the quality of the sandwich itself was very good. We also got a loaf of bread and unfortunately, it was a little too dry for my liking.
