Overall rating: 4.3A friend has been wanting to go here for years but never came to it. After trying out a walk-in around 4:50, I was able to make it to the bar. Let me start with saying I had very high expectations. I love ramen, and this place wasn't it. Beforehand I did read a lot of reviews that say they overflow it with beansprouts. So I obviously asked without. The ramen was half the size lol but the broth itself was just too salty for me. I ended up taking half of it to go & I will say it was better the next day. By the time I left (5:30) there was a line waiting, but it wasn't for me. The staff was friendly and nice, but can't say I'd come back here.

Never have I tried such thick ramen noodles. The noodles were chewy and while they didn't fully absorb the broth -- which might have made them too flavorful -- the noodles were coated with flavor. The broth was the thickest ramen broth I've tried before, basically tsukemen broth. The pile of bean sprouts on top of the Tonkatsu Jiro Ramen amused me, and I appreciated the balance of noodles to vegetable. The portion size was very fair for the price. The Karaage had the traditional karaage flavor. It was crispy, classic. It was a tad difficult flagging someone down at the bar because the staff was busy and I didn't want to rudely call out. However, as soon as I got their attention, they attended to me.On a weekday night with a line of customers to my back, the restaurant was unexpectedly busy. Whenever a customer entered, I felt a chilly gust. Sitting at the bar on a stool in a busy restaurant, of course, wasn't the most comfortable. However, dining alone, I was just in and out for the meal, and comfort wasn't a priority.

SERVICE- located on the intersection of Ave A and 10 st in East Village- groups need to put their name on a waitlist but the queue moves quickly- tables good for groups of 4-6 and bar seating available for individuals or parties of 2- ambiance good for casual or semi casual meal- servers are kind and efficient - restroom available inside MENU- specializes in ramen and tsukemen (dipping noodles)- vegan option available- average price ($17 per bowl)FOOD- vegetarian yasai tsukemen (9/10): creamy soy broth with ramen noodles, nori, scallions, greens, and sautéed mushrooms. What makes these noodles unique is that you dip the noodles and toppings into the broth as you eat it. Hence, the broth is a lot thicker than typical ramen broth. It had a rich garlic flavor which almost felt like an Alfredo sauce. The greens are a nice balance to the rich broth and soft noodles and the mushrooms add both umami flavor and chewy texture. I would have liked some crispy tofu to add yet another depth of texture. The portion is generous for one person but it would make great leftovers. WOULD I GO BACK? Yes! Although there was only two vegan options, they were super flavorful and moreish.

This place is always busy but it's worth of wait!I never came here before the renovation but this place is very clean. I must say this restaurant's ramen is ultimate comfort food. Period. The soup is delicious but thick and oily, noodles are very thick and filling.I never were able to finish their ramen, always take it to go. The benefit of that is you can make another bowl of ramen the next day by adding more noodles!I love all of the friendly staff, always look forward to seeing them again!

Seated rather quickly during peak lunch time, we enjoyed our time at Tabetomo. Noticing a lot of people around us were speaking Japanese, as well as the server, was a good sign. We got the tonkotsu jiro ramen and tsukemen, and both finally had the rich flavor I was looking for. A lot of ramen I've had in NY lacks the deep, creamy taste tonkotsu should have. The kind of taste that takes hours to build. Both were garlicky, rich, creamy and very flavorful! Our server, Keisuke, was bubbly and welcoming. It seemed like he was the only one serving, so he was running back and forth but he did a great job.

After loving the tsukemen at Okiburo in LES, I was excited to try the tsukemen at TabeTomo. The interior is more spacious and relaxed, which was conducive for bringing a child and having an unhurried meal with a friend. The staff were wonderfully accommodating with my bringing a toddler in a huge stroller. The service was also much cheerier and kind. Okiburo just has a different feel, with fewer wait staff and an environment, like focus-on-your-tsukumen-then-go. Both my friend and I ordered the classic tonkotsu ramen ($18), which came with thick noodles, chashu pork, and dipping sauce. The noodles at TabeTomo were terrific, perfectly chewy and quite copious. The dipping sauce was rich--but almost too rich, with a lot of visible lard bits floating on top. Apparently stewed for 60 hours, the broth certainly has a deep and robust flavor. I appreciated that a staff member proactively offered to add a hot stone to heat up our broth. Overall, I really enjoyed our experience, with the superb service, lovely ambience, and solid ramen noodles. Definitely one of the more novel ramen experiences in the city with memorably distinct noodles and broth.

Tabetomo is probably my top choice for tsukemen in NYC (though okiboru is also amazing). They were closed for a while due to a fire but are now open again. Came for lunch on a Sunday 10 mins before opening and glad I did, because there was already a line. My boyfriend and I grabbed counter seats and shared the takoyaki and Tonkatsu chashu tsukemen, which were both perfect.

3.5/5Came here with my boyfriend for dinner on a Saturday night. Restaurant was quite crowded but the line moved pretty fast. We got seated after a 10min wait. I got the tonkotsu tsukemen and my boyfriend got the tonkotsu chashu jiro ramen. Portion of these ramen were big with a lot of toppings. While the flavor of my tsukemen was very good, the broth was quite salty, even as a tsukemen. I asked to get a hot stone to heat up my broth when I was half way done my meal, and unfortunately, I don't think the person that heat up the stone for me heated the stone long enough and it barely made my broth warm. I had to put the toppings on the stone directly in order to made things hot. Overall, my experience here was okay. My tsukemen was just too salty for me to really enjoy it. My boyfriend liked his ramen a lot though and the price was very good for the portion. If I ever come back again, I will probably have the ramen instead of the tsukemen.

Staffs were friendly, service was great. When you arrive, put your name down on the list and indicate how many people are in your party. We ordered Tonkotsu Tsukemen which comes with dipping ramen (you can order the hot stone for free to reheat broth), Chashu Danburi and Karaage. Food was delicious. The bathroom is located in the back. Would recommend coming back here again!Food: 5/5Service: 5/5Ambience: 5/5
