Chef Teru is super knowledgeable and an amazing chef. Overall, I had an amazing experience and would definitely come back again. We arrived a little early for our reservation, but Chef Teru and the staff were very accommodating and served us right away with appetizers and drinks. The sushi was super fresh, and Chef Teru really made the quality of the fish shine without compromising its freshness or overwhelming it. All the fish were shipped in from Japan and were selected by the Chef himself. As a result, the menu changes often, making every visit a unique experience. The place is quiet, and the music was also very fitting. Overall, this is definitely one of the top omakase places in the city.

A truly special experience here as I was treated by a good friend to an omakase! We shared a bottle of sake in their fun glasses (I won't ruin the surprise), and ate so much amazing fish. Each dish was prepared by the chef who paced our meals well. The attention to detail was superb as he even placed the sushi at a different angle for my friend who was eating left handed. They show you photos of the fish you are eating (which was cute) and the service was immaculate.Lovely spot and would recommend for delicious omakase!

My son took me here for my birthday last night. It was the first time for both of us at Sushi Teru. Everything was wonderful -- the fish was the freshest I've ever had, each piece of sushi and tender and delicious, and for many of the fish, some of which were unusual varieties, a warm and kind hostess showed us a picture: the golden-eyed snapper, the pike mackerel, the snow crab, etc. One course was a mushroom broth served in a little teapot and small bowl which was fantastic, too. As my son said, practically everything we tasted I responded to by crying "Fantastic!" The setting was serene, with soft music, and kind explanations by the chef about the region of Japan and waters or island where each fish might be found. One particular highlight was fatty tuna with white truffles (they were from Italy, not Japan, the chef assured us). My favorite was probably the softest most delicious scallop I've ever had; my son's was the ocean eel, very different from the usual unagi. Before our dessert, the staff served me the sweetest pineapple I've ever tasted adorned with a birthday candle; the dessert was a kind of pudding of which I scraped up every bit. Kindness, authenticity, and calm made for an unforgettable evening. Both my son and I look forward to returning. We won't wait for another birthday!

This restaurant reminded me of the documentary on Netflix (that admittedly I never saw), about the sushi restaurant in Japan with just a few seats and a menu that changes based on the fishes of the day. The Hudson space is gorgeous, and though small, it has a counter for about 10 - 12 people plus a few two-top tables. We had a private dinner at the counter where two sushi chef geniuses brought us course after course of th freshest fish flown in that morning from Japan. There was baby eel, barracuda, tuna, baby squid, yellowtail fish and so much more. Every dish was better than the one before. Simple, but complex all at the same time. And the meal was finished with a beautiful sweet slice of melon. This is definitely an experience that will impress!

You guys, this new spot is now the best omakase in the city. All their fish is from the legendary Tsukiji Fish Market in Tokyo... Tokyo's best, brought straight to Hudson Street. Outrageous! Only one fish is from the US (the toro is from Boston) and that was sensational, too. We came here for my fiancé's birthday, and from beginning to end, it was such a special meal. Outdoor seating is enclosed with toasty heaters. Everyone treats you here with such respect and care... divine. What makes it great? The sushi chef is incredibly picky about the quality of the fish that's flown to him from Japan, so customers only get the best cuts. He won't even serve the fish to anyone if it's not up to his standard. We got the uni taster, a carafe of sake, and the Omakase menu C, but we added the chef's favorite seasonal fish to our dinner - the oily and seared rosy sea bass - which was superb! From the miso soup to the crunchy salmon skin hand roll to the matcha coconut custard, I can't rave enough. So happy they're here. Welcome to the neighborhood! 5 stars!!!!!!
