This place is exceptional! Very clean, chefs that explain every bite and able to understand them without issues. It is a bit on the e pricier side and they charge $40 if you want to bring your own alcohol, but I would recommend trying them at least once. It's a 13 course omakase meal for ~130/person. The dishes were presented very nicely. Would come back!

Beautiful omakase, each dish had good ingredients and nice flavors which were on the subtler side.Portions were a little smaller than some other spots but overall was really good, and service was very helpful. We finished with tea and dessert which was a cheesecake. The restaurant was quite with gentle music.

With a zen-like atmosphere, great service, and delicious food, Sushi Ouji is a beautifully crafted hidden gem in the hustle and bustle of the big city. Since it seems like it just recently opened, reservations for same day Friday night was surprisingly easy to make on Resy.I would highly recommend getting seats at the counter since it's nice seeing the chef cut our fish right in front of us and explain each piece. This restaurant serves it "omakase" style (chef's choice) meaning that there is a set number of pieces you'll receive one by one along with some appetizers and a dessert. Like more traditional places, there's the option to eat with your hands (highly recommended) as they supply you with a little vertical wet cloth to wipe your fingers after each bite. Each bite of fish was scrumptious with a mixture of classic pieces and more avant-garde/interesting flavored ones. The price for the meal was $109 (before tax and tip) which was solid considering this is New York and omakase style restaurants don't tend to be cheap.

It's always a gamble trying new sushi spots, but this time my gamble paid off! Sushi Ouji serves more traditional style sushi, but it was anything but boring. Rice was well seasoned and fish was fresh. Each nigiri was a decent size and you will leave full after the omakase course. Much better than say Nakazawa for a lower price point!

Sushi Ouji is a new omakase spot in soho that just recently opened back in December. They're still in their soft opening phase so things may change once they fully open. The omakase consisted of a 15 course meal starting with an assorted sashimi appetizer, followed by an ikura don, chawanmushi, 9 pieces of nigiri, tuna futomaki, miso soup, and ending with warabi mochi as dessert. Their drink selections were pretty limited compared to some of the other omakase places I've been, likely due to it being a soft opening menu. We received a complimentary piece of futomaki and the dessert came with a hot cup of hojicha, both of which were very nice. Some standouts of the night were the scallop nigiri and the uni. Overall, everything tasted very fresh and pleasant. While I understand that they are still in their soft opening phase, there are still a few things that could've made the experience better. The chef was quiet and kept to himself throughout most of the meal - it would've been great if we could have gotten to know him better and had some small talk as we were seated at the counter. Additionally, the service was a bit slow to start and they also forgot to give us our drink order until we asked again. They were nice enough to give us a free refill though so we didn't mind too much. In the end, it was a decent omakase experience and a good option for a night out.

This is THE BEST sushi restaurant in NYC! If anyone is looking for an omakase experience and a quaint private ambiance - this is IT!! Chef Ben's creativity packs a unique and delicious burst of flavor per each bite. As soon as you walk in, you can smell the fresh fish and ingredients that will adorn every single plate. I met the manager / owner Kevin about a year ago and have followed his journey ever since. He has done an incredible job and takes care of each customer like a part of the family. This will be my new sushi spot from now on!

After dining here, Sushi Ouji quickly became one of my favorite sushi spots in New York. I appreciate its quiet upscale ambiance. All the ingredients were incredibly fresh, and the vinegar rice was a perfect complement. The entire dining experience was wonderful--I can't wait to come back!

One of the better reasonably priced omakase spots in NYC right now. Fish is fresh from Japan, you get a good amount of food for the money, their drink / sake list is excellent, and what really sets this place apart is the attention you get from the owner (Kevin) and the staff. They make you feel like family. Have been 2x and plan to go back often!
