Great spot for an affordable omakase experience. I used to frequent this spot years ago when I visited New York for the first time and it's still a good place to stop by whenever you're in town. They have two omakase experiences, one with 12 pieces and one with 20 pieces. Probably the only place that offers that amount of pieces for a reasonable price. The staff and restaurant manager are really friendly and they even offered us a free crispy rice dish for our group at the end of our meal. So kind of them and they really didn't have to! The place is also a bit small but very well ran and decorated. It's so easily a good casual spot for sushi. Definitely would recommend as it's a fun and affordable place to go. Not top quality but it hits your cravings when you need it. See you guys again soon!

I stopped by here with a friend at the Bowery location (when it was still open) and was actually able to walk up and snag two of the four open seats outside. At the time, I think their 12 course omakase was about $60, which was absolutely worth it! The selections weren't super fancy or over the top, but was still delicious and super fresh. The chef was kind and attentive, and actually gave us an extra course on house! Would love to go back and try out their other locations.

This is another place where service and quality of the menu matter. To separate this place for other sushi restaurants, the price to eat a 12-piece or 20-piece omakase is worth it. There is a separate seating area for those who buy the omakase set. The restaurant tries to make it an enjoyable and immersive experience. The general manager and sushi chef were nice and accommodating to us. The manager checked in at reasonable intervals if there was anything that we needed. We even got a complimentary Crispy Rice Dish (Salmon)! I would definitely get this dish if you have not tried it already. Overall, the sushi quality was still fresh, clean, and the textured melted in your mouth. Personally, I enjoyed the Salmon and Tuna pieces as they were able to pair the fish well with toppings unique to NY. NOTE: There was an inconsistency of wasabi in the sushi pieces. There would be times where the wasabi was not apparent at all, and other times where the wasabi was so overpowering I could not enjoy the fish it was served with.Besides that one particular reason, I would go again for a satisfying experience.

Went to the location in West Village. Definitely a cozy location. On the left side is reservation for tabletop snd on the right side was the omakase counter. The vibe was pretty chill and relaxed, nice music. The service was very nice and attentive no complaints. The manager checked in very well to see how my meal was going and to see if I need anything else throughout the whole meal.9I opted for the 20 piece omakase, which was priced at $120.00 and each piece was very tasty , fresh and satisfying. Defiantly loved the sweet shrimp , eel and of course the uni. At the end of the meal, I opted to add on the Big Mac Maki . Definitely wasn't disappointed there .Sushi on Jones , if you've never done an omakase is a great starting point. Price point doesn't break the bank and for what you're getting it's very respectable. If I had one gripe; it was that I definitely counted only 17 pieces of nigiri then we ended the meal with a hand roll. ( Is the hand roll counted as 3 pieces of nigiri?! ) if it was then, that would make it 20 pieces if not , that would mean you get 17 pieces of nigiri and 1 hand roll.

1/1 Ambience; 1.5/2 Food + Beverages; 1/1 Service; .5/1 ValueSushi on Jones has a fun atmosphere with a small chef's table for omakase and a second part connected within the same restaurant for small or large group settings. The service was very friendly, e.g. the staff invited me to wait seated inside while I was in the front waiting for a friend just so I wouldn't be cold. Then, the two of us struggled to decide what to get and the waiter offered to put together a mini tasting of their best sellers. They were attentive all throughout the dinner and very quick in service. Our meal consisted of the blue fin tuna crispy rice, a selection of nigiri (tuna, salmon, hamachi, and unagi), and tuna maki roll. The crispy rice was phenomenal and definitely my favorite! Each nigiri was fresh and flavorful, particularly the unagi that was slightly sweet and a little caramelized around the edges. The tuna maki roll was alright, in the sense that it was rather standard for the price. The a la carte prices are on the more expensive side for fast/fusion with laid back vibes, while the omakase stands out as affordable relative to other omakase options in the city.

Second time having the omakase and it was so good yet again. Everything was seasoned very well with the exception of the Sando. Wish it had a more pungent sauce or just salt! Ambiance is always comforting and like how there is a dining room not but prefer the sushi bar. Service was quick but also paced out just enough. Love to be in and out for dinner

This was my second time to Sushi on Jones but the first time at this location. I came with a friend and we were both excited to try out their omakase since the 12 course option seemed more reasonably priced. We made a reservation in advance and didn't have to wait long before we were seated. We also decided to order one of the crispy rice items to try out their version. We chose the crispy rice with king salmon. The crispy rice wasn't bad but there was a bit too much sauce on top for my liking. When the nigiri came out, we enjoyed the pieces for the most part but somehow it didn't feel memorable overall. The wagyu beef piece was so chewy (think sinewy) that I wasn't able to eat it and had to actually spit it out. I told our chef about it and he apologized and made another piece and while I could technically swallow that one it also wasn't that good (compared to the melt in your mouth wagyu you expect at omakase). My friend was able to eat hers but it was also very chewy.Service certainly wasn't an issue since staff was friendly and attentive but we both couldn't help but feel disappointed and underwhelmed. For the price we paid, (still not nothing even if it's a better deal for omakase) this didn't feel like it was worth it to us. I liked the other Sushi On Jones location when I first tried it out a while ago but I can't help but wonder if the quality has gone down overall. I'd be hesitant to take the gamble and will likely stay away from these locations for a while unless I hear from a friend that they've improved. Sadly, there are plenty of other consistent omakase spots in the city that I'd rather go to.

Really quaint sushi spot. The interior is quite small, but still cozy. The sushi was delicious and fresh. The highlight of our meal was the bluefin crispy rice! I'd come back just for that.

Went here on a whim because we were starving and happened to be walking by it. It's only a block or two from my place so I'm shocked I'd never been before - it was delicious! This compact spot, which does super fresh sushi, expanded from its original omakase-only menu (started at the alfresco location in the Bowery Market) to include a la carte sushi and roll combos. The indoor location on West 10th Street is where we went.I got the sashimi plate (12 pieces), which was amazing, along with a green tea. My boyfriend got the spicy tuna maki and king salmon maki. Each of the specialty maki's come cut into 8 pieces. You must know that the music is so on point, and many come here for the affordable omakase. They certainly bring the best of the traditional Japanese experience for the New York market.

Friendly service and great omakase. I love how the fish itself is the main star of each piece. The toppings compliment and do not overpower the fish. I really enjoyed all of the pieces that were served.
