Hey, how are you guys doing up there?
A bit disappointing. Assistant chef made it early & was just sitting while I was eating the previous sushi. Nori became soggy. A big NO NO.

Spendy! But honestly one of the best and most memorable meals of my life. Staff is wonderful, the fatty toro is phenomenal. Had the omakase here and every bite is just a smile and a moment to share with the person you're with. Can't wait to go back someday

The staff was very polite, no doubt. The atmosphere was very quiet when we came in. We had a 6 pm dinner and other diners were coming in around 8 pm. We asked to sit by the head chef, but were unable to. There were only 2 other diners when we arrived. The fish was standard. I did not feel satisfied with the meal, some pieces of fish were sinewy. It was $145 per person for omakase. Pickled ginger was sparse. We were notified there were 8 pm reservations, so we left at 7:53 pm. After tax and tip, it was almost $200 for the dinner (including one non-alcoholic drink).

Sushi Jin has always exceeded expectations and I hope they will stay in the neighborhood. We heard that the lease is up in February 2024, and they will no longer be there. We are praying they will continue to stay in the upper east side! Please go and support this excellent omakase restaurant !

Omakase was amazing! Chef was so nice and talked to us. The hostess was attentive as well. Every piece was on point! Definitely call to make a reservation now!

I have eaten a lot of great sushi and great omakase in Japan and in NYC for decades. Sushi is about rice and few pieces had rice and the rice they had was not well prepared. It certainly is not omakase sushi (not prepared piece by piece and handed from chef to diner). Sadly, I did not find the food very good either. Food is prepared with pre cooked or pre-sliced fish for dishes that are served by waitstaff. The first dishes are mostly fried and are, imo, not calorie worthy. The sashimi is not cut well and is simply not great quality. Some fish smells old. I am happy to receive properly aged raw fish in the edomae tradition. The pieces that lacked freshness were not of that tradition. The maguro and toro were sliced very thin and stacked two per piece and any texture of the fish was lost. The pieces were also of oddly long. This preparation is inventive but is not an invention that warrants imitation. The gari was cut in chunks which I sometimes prefer but why not cut the chunks into similar size pieces? The fish and ginger were both cut haphazardly and without care or skill. I could go through each piece and explain how the quality and preparation failed but suffice it to say I shall not return and my $388 for two with no "optional pieces" or sake or other alcoholic beverage was not not dollar worthy.

I was looking for an under $200 Omakase place for my visit to NYC with my brother and we decided to go to Sushi Jin.The restaurant is a cute tiny place with only around 10-12 sushi bar seats and a couple of tables. The service is great, very intimate and personal service without any long wait times. This food was amazing. One of the best meals, not just Omakase, I've had in NYC. Everything was super fresh and delicious. And it is not just the fish nigiri that was delicious, the oyster and scallops were some of the best I've eaten. I've been to places like NOZ and Nakazawa in NYC and I thought this was better than both. My only negative comment would be about the pacing of the dishes, I think they could have waited just a little bit more between dishes, it was a little too quick for me but it wasn't a big deal.At the $145 price point this place is a damn steal, and well worth the trip to the UES if you want an amazing omakase experience

Fourth time at Sushi Jin and Satoshi has outdone himself again. The staff are incredibly attentive and Satoshi shared his wonderful sushi masterpieces with us. The fish served is some of the freshest I've ever had. I highly recommend adding Sushi Jin to a must try list of sushi restaurants. Thank you!!

What an amazing meal. Great service. Each piece better than the last. Attention to detail with subtle, well-thought-out ingredients that let the fish be the star of each dish. Highly recommend this neighborhood-friendly restaurant.

We have been to Sushi Jin many times, and it is always a wonderful experience. The sushi and other dishes are super fresh, mostly flown in from Japan. Because the chef's goal is to get the freshest ingredients, the meal is always different. Service and attention to detail is superb, as well as the explanations of the dishes. It is a small place with not many seats, which reminds us of some of the sushi restaurants we visited in Kyushu, Japan. It is definitely worth book, and we book whenever we are in the area.
