Sushi Suite 1001 is a unique omakase experience located in a hotel room in Hotel 32|32 in Midtown. The meal consists of a 17-course omakase at a tiny 4-seat counter, making for an intimate dining experience. This is definitely not a drawn out omakase experience as the courses come fast and furious. Overall it was a good omakase and our favorites were the firefly shrimp, sea bream, scallop, ocean trout, bluefin fatty tuna, wagyu and tuna tartare. Sushi Suite 1001 makes for a sexy date night and an efficient omakase for the weeknights 1. Cucumber salad with chutoro 2. Firefly squid with ponzu jell 3. Tilefish 4. Seam bream with orange zest 5. Lean tuna with ginger and scallion 6. Yellowtail and chives 7. Squid with lemon juice and sea salt 8. Sea bream 9. Horse mackerel with kelp 10. Golden eye snapper 11. Scallop 12. Striped jack 13. Ocean trout with rice crisp 14. Bluefin fatty tuna with truffle sauce 15. Wagyu with csviar 16. Uni 17. Tuna tartare

Came here for date night - great ambiance in a small, intimate setting. I really enjoyed that there were only four seats at the counter and that we could hang out at the terrace bar before the meal started. I was taken aback at the delayed seating however - we were under the impression that timing was very strict, so made the effort to rush. Nevertheless, we were seated a bit late but I was too excited for the 17-course dinner ahead of us. Our chef, originally from Tokyo, was exceptionally skilled and personable. Throughout the meal we had enjoyable conversations with him (and the other couple) and watched mouthes agape as he artfully crafted each dish. I am unable to recall all seventeen courses, but for the most part I enjoyed the meal overall. My spouse treated me so I wasn't fully aware of the price per person, but he seemed a little cross with the caliber for that price tag. I agreed with him that some of the fish pieces felt repetitive which isn't thrilling considering the reputation as THE omakase gem of NYC. Overall I had a good time and suspect others will too.

Having tried all the Bou locations in NYC and Sushi by Bae, I was eager to experience Sushi Suite. With only four seats, it offers an intimate, like dining at someone's home , ideal for small groups or a romantic date night. It feelsThe seating time was short but didn't feel rushed. Our chef is from Tokyo, he is very talented and friendly. Over the course of our hour-long dining experience, we had a great conversations with him while watching him skillfully prepare each master piece. The 17-course meal began with a snow crab appetizer. Unfortunately, it didn't impress me; the pickle and seaweed flavors overwhelmed the crab's natural sweetness. The meal then continued with 16 pieces of nigiri. While the fish was very fresh, the frequent use of yuzu toppings across several pieces felt somewhat uninspired. Overall, I enjoyed the fish but didn't feel it matched the premium experience I had anticipated for the price.I also want to address the timing issue. Despite multiple emails emphasizing punctuality and a strict 10-minute grace period, we were seated 20 minutes past our reservation time. We had taken a taxi to ensure we arrived on time, and if we had known about the delay, we could have saved ourselves the cost. If punctuality is a priority for the restaurant, I would expect the same consideration in return.Additionally, when we received the bill, the waitress mentioned that my meal was comped, which was not the case. I had paid for my meal, and this misunderstanding made me feel uncomfortable, especially when hosting friends or on a date.

Came here today to use up the last of the sushi by bou summer special, I didn't know that I can trade in the bogo for one 17 course sushi experience until my friend told me. We got here early and got to sit at the bar outside and order a drink first. This private vip experience on the tenth floor with the keycard access gave a speakeasy vibe and was wonderful, our servers were great and the 3 seat counter seating was perfect for our group of 3 we had the chef all to ourselves. The smoked honey bee without the mezcal was delicious and I did go to the other sushi by bou to try the BOGO and the peices are different! The 23rd street location I went to the fish were thin and the sushi peices were small the feedback from everyone there was everyone left hungry even with the 5 peice sushi add on. This place we left full, some of the highlights to me was the wagyu with truffle and the Otoro, chef was great at explaining the sushi to us.. everyone left satisfied!

Hold up and wait a minute... how have I not written a review for this place yet? I've been coming here every year for the last three or four years when I'm in New York for the U.S. Open. It's a total treat because of the unique experience that is offered. First of all, you enter and "check in" at a hotel. Once you get your room, key, you head up the elevator to your room. Upon entering your sushi suite, you have an opportunity to head out to the balcony for some drinks before your seating. they recently partnered with breaking bad, and will have new drinks inspired by the TV show. Once you've had a couple cocktails and taken some cute pictures, you'll have a seat at one of four at your private bar. If you need to, you can request the 5th seat but it's a bit tight. From there, let the chef take you on a journey for the ages for one hour. The fish is out of this world. The chef prepares a 15-17 course omakase meal depending on the fresh ingredients available. My favorite is always the chawanmushi when they happen to serve it and obviously the fatty toro and wagyu. A bonus is that they get their a5 wagyu certified from Japan. The chefs rotate between the sushi by bou restaurant and it's such a great concept to keep the chef, the bartenders, and the customers engaged. We always love coming here. Book in advance and enjoy!

My husband and I had a reservation at Sushi Suite for our anniversary. We were coming from Philadelphia and ran into traffic due to an accident blocking the tunnel but the staff were so accommodating once I texted them about the situation. Since it's an omakase experience, we had to eat fairly quickly when we arrived but that was definitely not an issue for us, LOL. The chef has very knowledgeable and welcoming (even though we were late) and he was great in selecting items for the party that reserved the other 2 seats -- a mother and her 8 year old daughter visiting from Chicago. After an amazing 17 courses, including dessert, we headed to the outdoor heated bar to enjoy a drink before heading to see the tree at the Rockefeller Center.

went here for a date night with my boyfriend! fun concept of getting a keycard to enter the hotel room, where you are met with a small sushi bar for 4 people and a bar/waiting area. sushi was good, but we very much disliked the ambiance and service: food:-mostly simple pieces of fish + small dishes + 1 handroll. we enjoyed most of the pieces, however we both felt that some of the pieces tasted too similar and the selection of fish that day was a bit repetitive and unmemorable-winners of the night: uni and wagyu truffle-we ate a little before our dinner, so left feeling pretty full. honestly the amount of pieces for the price was good for nyc service and ambiance:-this was my biggest let down of the night. overall felt like service was awkward and a bit cold:when we walked in to the room, we were silently directed to the bar without much info about when reservation would be ready. upon entering the bar the bartender didn't really greet us so we just sat waiting for further instruction. it felt like the assumed we knew where to go or what to do as soon as we stepped in (bar had a lot of relics of breaking bad which was fun to see though)there was a nice older gentleman who frequently refilled our water which we appreciated. the most SURPRISING part of the night was that our chef was pretty unfriendly and made us uncomfortable, which was unusual because the chefs are super lively and warm at other omakases. when my bf expressed that this was the best piece of tuna he ever had, the chef looked at him very blankly and scoffed "really. hmph...", which we found weird. when we asked him if he had any sushi recommendations in asia he just stared and said "i haven't been back in 10 years" and said nothing else. at the end of our meal we wanted to tip, but was met with a very awkward response from not only the chef but the bartender. it almost felt like we were doing something wrong and the response to our request from staff was slow. we left enjoying the fish but laughing about how awkward the service was at some moments.honestly wouldn't come here again only because of our experience with service and our chef. there are different chefs so you might not get the guy we had. however if you don't care much about service and enjoy simple pieces of fish in a modern speakeasy style place, this place might be your style!
