We made dinner reservations for V-Day weekend. The omakase counter is hidden in the lower level of the restaurant. The vibe is very intimate and cozy! We started off with around 4-5 appetizers (steamed egg pudding, two sashimi dishes, ankimo, several steamed fish dishes, torched scallop). Appetizers were pretty good-- I especially loved the steamed egg and ankimo! We then had around 9 different nigiri pieces (including my loveeeee uni), followed by miso soup. Compared to the other omakase places I've been to, the nigiri pieces here have a "blander"taste profile. Not a bad thing-- maybe because the fish is so fresh, they're trying to highlight the taste of the fish itself! I only wish they gave us more nigiri instead of having so many appetizers. Miso soup, on the other hand, was quite salty. The chef also came around asking if we wanted more (which I thought meant it was an encore sushi piece, which is quite common in the omakase in Korea). After we requested 2 pieces though, we were charged-- so be wary that this isn't free!!Lastly we had black sugar ice cream dessert. Dessert was AMAZINg-- I wish I could bring some home! Overall, chef was super nice, food was good, and staff was very attentive. The whole course took a little over 2 hours (the pace is on the slower side, compared to the other places I've been too).

One of my favorite omakases in the city, for the intimacy, consistency, and simplicity. Amane is not one of the super modern (Joji, Nakaji) or show places (Icca, Yoshino), but rather strives to maintain a demure and traditional approach to sushi. The rice is more acidic, and not too strong flavored, but I like it a lot. And temperature with the fish is great -- it all comes together very nicely to the tongue.Coming here for 3 years, the standouts I've had are- Nodoguro on top of uni rice- Kegani, Abalone sushi- Kinmedai, Kasugo, Japanese Snapper: the white fish selection is always great. I've also had Nodoguro as a sushi a few times and it's a joyAmane is a relaxed procession of food. You will spend 2 to 2.5 hrs there, and Chef will slice a lot of the fish in front of you, so you can watch and enjoy the show. The drink menu is decent, and offers selection at every price point. The markup is reasonable, and corkage at $80 is also very reasonable. They have Zalto glassware, which is a joy for wine lovers.

This was the most incredible dining experience I've ever had. I've never said that before, having visited hundreds of restaurants. Chef Hayashi was the kindest, most talented chef I've ever met. His fish selection is top notch, and his ability to use texture, temperature, and sauce to enhance the flavors is truly mind blowing. I was trying all new fish, and everything I ate was spectacular. He takes such pride in his craft that it is impossible to dislike anything he produces. The wait staff was INCREDIBLE, filling up our drinks, clearing plates, and wiping our seating areas whenever need be. They were so friendly, and honestly made the environment incredible. The dining area was intimate, CLEAN, and calming. This place is a steal for the price relative to other restaurants. 100% dine at sushi AMANE. One meal here will change your perspective on food for a lifetime. I could not be more pleased.

Sushi Amane is a true gem for omakase lovers. The precision and artistry behind each piece are unmatched, with the freshest ingredients and flawless execution. The intimate setting adds to the experience, making it feel personal and special. Our waiter was very attentive and warm and was very knowledgeable on each dish. While pricey, the quality justifies it--every bite is worth savoring. A must-visit for sushi connoisseurs!

Sushi Amane provided an exceptional dining experience from start to finish. The intimate setting, paired with the warm and attentive staff, made the evening truly special. They took the time to thoroughly explain the drink menu and ensured we were enjoying every moment of our meal. I visited to celebrate my brother-in-law's birthday, and it was nothing short of phenomenal. The care and skill the sushi chef puts into each piece was evident in every bite, and the sushi rice was absolutely outstanding. This experience transported me back to my time in Japan. While it's on the pricier side, I would gladly choose the Omakase at Amane over other less expensive options. I will be coming back.

sushi AMANE had been on my bucket list for some time, but it's not easy to score a rez there since the small space only accommodates 9 patrons. Upon arrival diners are escorted separately down a flight of stairs into a basement area. Then we wended our way through a few rooms to finally enter sushi Amane's lair; I kept thinking that this well hidden space would make a great safe house! The decor is spare with cinderblock walls and blonde wood, and mellow jazz music created a nice peaceful vibe. Seating was very tight. This was my first experience of eating Edomae style sushi. Edomae is a style of sushi that was invented in Tokyo about 200 years ago as a cheap fast food snack for laborers (imagine that?). Edomae involves treating some of the fish with a cooking or curing element before serving it, and fish should be sourced only from Japan - preferably from Tokyo Bay although that is not practical anymore. We started with a bottle of Mimorusugi sake chosen from their nicely curated menu. Our sake was decanted into a small metal pitcher to keep it cold. Nice touch. Each course was artfully served in beautiful handmade dishes with much care.Among my sushi favorites were golden-eyed snapper; white shrimp; toro sashimi and rolls; and luscious Hokkaido uni. Also enjoyed the abalone with matsutake mushroom. A small bowl of flavorful miso soup and sweet tamago (egg custard) ended the feast. Chef Hayashi is highly skilled and very friendly. During our short chat it was revealed that I had lived in the same small town in Japan as did the Chef's older brother - a small world indeed.Wonderful and unique experience overall.

Probably one of my favorite omakase experiences in the city! Haven't heard too much about this place before booking a reservation, but was pleasantly surprised. Everything was super fresh and well prepared. The rice was always fresh for each course and a bit on the warmer side, which I prefer. Great selection of pieces as well - nodoguro & uni rice appetizer, ebi, uni, otoro, chutoro, and hairy crab were some favorites. Would have liked to see scallop on the menu, but not a big deal as I'm sure the pieces are dependent on what's being flown in. The service was also great - cleaned the platter between each course and our water glass was never empty. I noticed that the chef always gave each course to the female diner first, which actually hasn't happened in the previous omakases I've been to. A small thing but definitely appreciated! I usually prefer more nigiri and less appetizers, but there was a great balance and felt full, but not uncomfortably so afterward. I was also looking forward to the tamago course and it did not disappoint - definitely one of the best and more unique recipes I've had and would buy a whole block of it if I could.

We went here to celebrate our anniversary and this was our first time here. We'd been to Mifune upstairs about 4 times so we expected Sushi Amane to be even better and it did not disappoint! Service was impeccable and all the dishes were perfect! The chef is also very nice and accommodating for those that want to take a lot of pictures and videos! At the end of the nigiri before moving on to the hand roll, they do ask if anyone wants to try the special that wasn't included or have another piece of something they've already had. This is of course a la carte and extra on top of the omakase. My husband got another piece of the white ebi, which was his favorite while I got the special which was hotate. For me the best is tied between the chūtoro and the uni. I wish I'd gotten another piece of them. There is no dessert included but the last piece is the tamago. It tasted so heavenly, almost like flan, that it might have as well been the dessert! Overall, we left very happy and satisfied and will definitely come back again!

Delicious upscale omakase place deserving of its Michelin star. The service was attentive and great as well. Really stood out for its amazing quality fish and well seasoned rice. A quiet 8 seat dining area makes it a good place for conversation. They serve a good collection of Japanese wine and sake here too.
