It's a good thing I don't live near NYU, or else I'd be tempted to eat here every week. Hip, delicious Szechuan food in a great central location. I am not vegan but it's really amazing to what Spicy Moon has done to bring the Szechuan flavor profiles to the vegan space.Highlights for me are the Mapo Tofu and Dan Dan Noodles. The portions are pretty good - I can usually fit an appetizer and one entree. The Mapo Tofu is medium spicy, but I wish the Dan Dan Noodles were more spicy, I'd say they are on the low end, with just a tingle. (Which is how Dan Dan Noodles tend to be, but I'm just a spicy fiend). I really really appreciate that the Dan Dan Noodles are very light on the peanuts - I'm partial to DDN that are more on the chili oil side over peanuts.Amazing cocktails - the lychee martini and lychee ginger spritzer are my personal favorites. Great vibes. I come here around once every 3-4 months and the quality is consistently high.

Spicy Moon is that girl. We came here after a show to decompress since it was only a block away from the venue, and had a great time. I absolutely loved the General Tso Mushroom (so crunchy, lemon spritz sent it up) and the Dan Dan Noodles (so nutty & yummy). I think I'm realizing that I enjoy firmer tofu, but my friends really loved the Mapo Tofu, and it was super flavorful even if it wasn't my favorite texture. I was also a little surprised entrées don't come with rice, so we did have to order it as a side, which was fine. The wontons in Chilli Oil were also smoky and delicious. The absolute star of the show (to me) was the Hen of The Woods Bao Bun. They were a little on the pricier side and we wanted to try a range of things so I only had one but I could eat 20. They were so perfectly crunchy and saucy against that warm soft bun, fresh cucumber, and slightly acidic pickled onion. Only thing we had that is not pictured was the Mochi and Sesame Moon dessert, which were perfectly fine!Service was great & super friendly, and ambiance was fun-- loved YuGiOh playing in the background. I think next time I'd request/wait a little longer for a booth in the back, which might have been more comfortable and a little warmer than the tables near the door on such a cold night. Looking forward to a return!

I was craving spicy noodles but finding a good vegan spot is always a challenge. After a quick Yelp search, I stumbled upon this place and decided to give it a shot. They have multiple branches, and I visited the one in West Village.I ordered their popular vegan dan dan noodles. The dish came out pretty quickly, smelled amazing, and I couldn't wait to dig in. The portion size was enough for two people to share, which was nice. The flavors were interesting and packed a punch, but unfortunately, I had a slight allergic reaction afterward and got rashes on my face. I'm allergic to mushrooms, but the server assured me the dish only had beans and greens, so I'm not sure what triggered it.That said, the spot itself is still pretty cool. If you're in the area, love spicy noodles, and don't have mushroom allergies, it's worth a try!

Every single dish slaps and this was the best mapo tofu I've had. I convinced my friends to come here for Chinese lunar and not sure if it was because it was new years but the whole place was kind of lit. Almost lounge vibes, dark lighting, very loud. Just something to keep in mind.

What a gem!! Everything we ate was so delicious. The vibe is really fun, with dim lighting and bold colors. The staff was attentive and helpful. We absolutely loved the dan dan noodles and the chopped cheese spring roll. You forget the place is vegan because you really can't tell with how well the food is made. I can't wait to come back and try more!I recommend making a reservation for dinner / weekends as it gets busy.

===TL;DR=== - Scallion pancake- Vegetable wonton in chili oil - Dan Dan noodle + beyond beef - Mapo tofu===TMI===Alright alright alright hear me out. This place was recommended by a friend saying they had great Szechuan food. I was like ok, down! Got here, looked at the menu, the carnivore in me was like where are the meats? To find out.. this was a vegan restaurant!! But since we were here already, oh well, I'll give it a go. Kid you not, if you didn't tell me everything here was vegan, I could have never tell. The food here was outstanding. Mapo tofu is such a hard dish to get it right and they nailed it. So rich in flavor, spicy, and numbing. Dan Dan noodle? So yummy. Pro tip is to mix some of the mapo tofu with the noodles, omg, best combo. But wait! Dip that scallion pancake in there too.... Zomg I'm salivating just writing this review and reliving this in my head. Carb goodness for days. I think the only thing I'll pass would be the wonton in chili oil - not cause it wasn't good but all the others stole the thunder. If you're hesitant into trying vegan food, I'd say give them a try. It might change... or for me, blew my mind. Oh also, neon lights ambiance? Say no more!

Great place, especially if vegetarian! Came here on a Friday night with a reservation and it was busy, but food and drink came out reasonably. My friend and I got the Dan Dan noodles, vegetable wonton in chili oil, and kung pao style tofu and veg. It was all delicious and delicious the single chili pepper for the wonton and Dan Dan noodle were good enough for me. Drinks were also solid but don't remember what I got.Would definitely come again!

Cute vegan Szechuan spot near Washington square. The inside is flowery and has pink lighting, so is very vibey. The food was very good! Everything I ordered was extremely yummy. I would say the wontons were less value than the mapo tofu and dan dan noodles portion wise, but it was delicious. In terms of ranking against all Szechuan in the city, it definitely wasn't the best flavor wise or the cheapest (would recommend Chili Meili or Antidote), but for an entirely veggie/vegan menu, great!

Was hesitant because this place is Vegan and my experience with vegan food is that it just doesn't hit right. I think it's a great idea to turn a szechuan restaurant vegan though because it's not hard to do. Also hear that this place is one of those vegan spots that anyone would love eating at and boy were they right.CHILI WONTON - perfect texture to the dumpling skin I must say, with of course that classic szechuan chili coming through.KUNG PAO TOFU - great texture on these tofu bites, and I happen to be a fan of tofu but I don't think it necessarily tasted too much like tofu. Strong szechuan flavors coming through here too, and authentic sauce flavor too.DRY PEPPER ** - this was one of our faves. I think also tofu? but had this nice crumbly texture to it. Really recommend getting this.MAPO TOFU** - also recommend getting the mapo tofu, was worried this wouldn't come out right but the texture was perfect, the sauce was HITTIN, and stands out as a pretty damn good mapo tofu, even wthout the crumbly pork.DAN DAN NOODLES ** - really great texture on these. Perfect asian al dente. A must when eating szechuan food. Drinks were solid!
