I am not vegan, but I do appreciate good Szechuan food and sweet cocktails. Spicy Moon Chelsea thus had my attention. The wait staff were predominantly, young, hip and smiling. The first round of buns and bites came out within 5 minutes of ordering; everything was excellent, the kind of Szechuan food you can just keep eating until your mouth is numb (lucky there weren't too many actual peppercorns). Even the slightly avant garde potato and sour cream dumplings were bomb.The fried eggplant sticks were impressively hearty, definitely a sturdy appetizer for two people. We also loved the toothsome and peanut-y Dan Dan noodles with vegan beef. The lychee martini was quite sweet, which is my preference. Cool crowd, chill servers, sweet drinks and great food. That's a Yelp 5 out of 5 right there.

I read vegan Szechuan and had to try this place. Easy to find table on Friday night. The place is dimly lit which sucks cause I couldn't visually enjoy the food. Needless the food was tasty. I got Dan Dan noodle, tofu bun and wonton in chilli oil. All three were delicious though I wish Dan Dan was spicier. Recommend checking it out

Food itself was good, but the menu really needs more diversity... It's mainly tofu, which I do like, but I was disappointed that they didn't have any of the other variety of bean products that Chinese cuisine has to offer, like bean curd, qiang zhang, dou pi, etc. They also didn't have mock duck lol. Oh wait they did but it was just a tiny appetizer.Relatively narrow inside but was very packed the night we went.

Such a fun vibe for dinner. Super easy spot to meet up with people after work. The food was delicious and the portions were huge. I'm not a vegan and I was impressed by the flavors! The servers were very kind and attentive enough. We ordered the scallion pancakes, crispy eggplant, duck rolls, and Dan Dan noodles and had so much food left over (this was for 2 of us). The only negative is it's pretty dark all around, but it does give a fun ambiance if you're looking for that. All of our dishes were delicious and I would absolutely go back!

I think I've officially been to every location and each one hits the spot! My friend and I couldn't Resist the mapo tofu because they make it so good here, but we did decide to be a bit creative and try something new with the glass noodles. The flavor of the glass noodles was great and a nice change up from our typical dan dan noodle order. Our only wish was that the noodles weren't so clumpy and would have been easier to separate. As for the space and location, you can't beat it. Tons of room to spread out, lots of booth seating, good for parties of 2 or bigger tables for 5+. Also there's a cute bar section in the back. Appreciate that you don't have to go downtown to get some vegan Szechuan with this new location.

It doesn't feel like an authentic Chinese place at all, but they sure serve up some veganized and extremely high-quality versions of pretty authentic Szechuan/Northern Chinese dishes. We stopped in for lunch and each ordered a lunch special, which comes with a choice of a "small bite" and "big bite" for $16.95 plus tax.My wife & I shared everything, and got the vegetable dumplings and Szechuan edamame (yeah, I know, not an authentic dish) for our small bite, and the ma po tofu (with rice added for $2) and dan dan noodles (with Beyond beef added for $2).Everything came out in about 10 minutes. The small bites were very well-done, with the dumplings being dense and packed with filling, served with a nice tangy dipping sauce. The edamame were perfectly cooked nicely seasoned with a salty chili-crusted seasoned. The mapo tofu was absolutely top-notch -- honestly, it doesn't get better than this: rich, balanced, nice use of peppercorns and fermented bean paste, and a nice touch with the leaks. The dan dan noodles were similarly phenomenal, with a rich, peanuty and savoury sauce that coated the noodles, and the Betyond beef adding great texture.Service was a little inattentive at first but made up for it later. Top-notch spot for vegan Szechuan.

It's so nice to have a Spicy Moon in Chelsea. My partner and I were out visiting some art galleries, and I was craving Chinese food and just happened to find there was a new Spicy Moon location nearby. Had a great meal here and was suprised it was so new. The Kung Pao tofu was more sweet that spicey, but was still really great. The scallion pancakes were nothing special, but fine. It's an odd one, but the rice came out steaming hot, which is rarely the case at asia spots that just leave it in a warmer. The Dan Dan noodles were also really good (but a tad salty).I'm def going back when i'm in the area. The service was great and food cam eout ridiculously fast. We were there for an early dinner.
