Great service and experience! The chefs would tell you which fish they were serving you. Fish to rice ratio is great. Servers would come around to top off your sake/beer while you ate. After the 12 course meal begins the AYCE of Lean Tuna, Otoro and Wagyu. The servers explain how the AYCE portion works at the beginning and they ask how much of each you want, so let your stomach make the call. Overall all the pieces were delicious, me and friend ate about 40 pieces each, definitely would head back with other friends another day .

One of the best AYCE and AYCD omakase experience and a great price at under $100 ($98 to be exact). You start with a 12 course omakase experience and then you get to order as many pieces of otoro (fatty tuna), toro (leaner cut of tuna) and wagyu beef nigiri. Note, each piece of uneaten sushi is $10. Also to note, it may be difficult to make a reservation so plan! For 4 people, we made reservations the month earlier and got a later time than we originally wanted. The vibe here is minimal, bright and intimate. You'll most likely be making friends with the people seated next to you and they will be able to hear your whole conversation. This is a great place to have good sushi, a nice buzz, and conversations with friends (probably not more than 4). There is limited seating around the sushi bar and they have specific seating times since everyone at the sushi bar is serviced the 12 courses at the same time.

Reservation only; there's only about 20 seats (bar) inside, and it does get quite crowded. As we were leaving, there was a line of people (about 10-15) who had reservations but were waiting for us to finish, so be sure to make a reservation earlier in the day. Staff is very friendly and helpful, offering to check our coats and asking if we wanted tea or sake; our sushi chefs were equally genial and quick when serving us.The menu is set, with omakase (chef's choice) for about $100 per person. It's a first course of 13 pieces of nigiri (see pictures), then 3 courses of AYCE toro (lean tuna), otoro (fatty tuna), and wagyu beef. You'll be asked before each of the AYCE courses how many pieces of sushi you'd like; just keep in mind you can't go backwards and that each piece you don't eat is $10 each. My tip for the AYCE is to save your stomach for the tuna and don't be afraid to skip or have minimal portions of the Wagyu, which was rather tough and not as flavorful. Also, since they don't serve any other foods or sodas, there's nothing but ginger to cleanse your palate, so the AYCEs can get rather monotonous and dry, especially the Wagyu.Regardless, I greatly enjoyed the food here and if you come in a party, your "teammates" can help you eat any food you can't finish. Personally, AYCE isn't worth it for me since I've got a tiny stomach (I could only eat about 20 pieces of sushi total), and I prefer not to gorge myself. However, I'd highly recommend Souraji if you can get a reservation. Prices are superb and the sushi fish tastes higher end, rather than that of value restaurants.

A too good to be true deal that is actually true?? AYCE Otoro and A5 wagyu for just under $100?? While there is a catch, it really doesn't make the deal go "sour". Before you start the ayce, you have to go through their 12 course omakase, which is already a steal by itself since every piece of nigiri was high grade sushi that most $100 omakase would serve you. And those omakase don't come with an ayce round after! After the omakase round, you get 1 ROUND of the unlimited toro nigiri's (you choose how many pieces you want), then you have to move on to the Otoro. Repeat for Otoro, then you finish with the seared A5 Wagyu nigiri's. The fish to rice ratio wasn't out of proportions, but it did feel like there was a bit more rice than necessary. If you're smart like me, skip the round of the toro (lean tuna). I went for 12 pieces of Otoro and the fish taste as fresh as it could get. Naturally sweet and not a hint of fishiness. I wish I ordered more of the Otoro and skipped the wagyu because a lot of the wagyu pieces were cut so thin I felt like I was eating seasoned sushi rice. Last piece of advice, and the last catch - DO NOT be like the man next to me trying to impress his girl. Bro ordered 15 pieces of Toro, 20 pieces of Otoro, and 20 pieces of Wagyu. At the end of our hour and a half sitting, there were a good 10+ pieces of rice left on his plate, without the meat on top. I couldn't tell if it was sweat or tears dripping down his face as he was shaking his head with ragret. EACH piece you do not finish will be a $10 additional charge.#332

It's good value if you can eat a lot. The fish was fresh and yummy. The Wagyu was great as well. The AYCE options are lean tuna, fatty tuna, and Wagyu beef in that order. Any unfinished piece is $10. Order the fatty tuna sparingly. It's really good, but eating copious amounts of fatty tuna pieces in a row just feels gross at some point, because it is so rich and fatty. Service was great! I chose not to drink even though it is also AYCD. Overall, great experience, but I think I enjoy omakase more when there is just a single set menu and you can enjoy each piece slowly. Probably wouldn't come back but I'm glad I tried it.

Fun AYCE/AYCD spot! Ideal if you come with the big back mentality and don't eat much earlier in the day. Mainly bar with some table seating!14 courses with all you can eat lean tuna, fatty tuna, and wagyu (one big order for each and no reordering). Also have a delicious sake and drink menu with mochi ice cream at the end!

My friends and I had an amazing dinner here for our NYC trip, the staff were so kind and friendly the entire night which honestly elevated our experience on top of a great meal. We were a group of 7 and were able to get the corner of the bar; the interior itself was quite slim and had limited seating besides the actual bar, but I enjoyed the cozy atmosphere of the restaurant. I also really enjoyed the meal; it was 12 courses with an AYCE at the end -- our options that day were lean tuna, fatty tuna, and wagyu. The AYCE aspect was a bit difficult to gauge since you only get one chance to order each option, but it didn't affect my experience that much. Our chef's name was Jay and he was wonderful. We had a great time and had a lot of laughs with him! Ryan and Max were also chefs there and were very friendly! I would love to come back if I'm ever in the city again it was such a great night for my friends and I.

I went here a little while ago back in November with a group. The place has a fun atmosphere and they do something which used to be unique which includes three courses which are all you can eat at the end; lean tuna, fatty tuna, and wagyu. The drinks are free as well though I mostly stuck with hot tea. Service was a bit non-existent just pumping out courses. I probably would have given this place an upper 3 a while ago but I recently went to a much better version of this exact same thing at Sushi Hayashi https://www.yelp.com/biz/sushi-hayashi-new-york which is just leagues better than here. In terms of what is better here, the rice is a better temperature and you get an extra 10 minutes. However, the fish quality overall here is worse, they give you thin pieces over rice (and even thinner during the AYCE with the same amount of rice,) and there's only one round of AYCE sashimi. The following was our menu-Suzuki/seabass- Pretty good quality fish and pretty butterySawara/Spanish mackerel- Nice oily fish and one of my preferencesSnapper- Particularly good texture compared to most piecesAkami/lean tuna- Alright. A bit chewy compared to some spotsSalmon/sake with yuzu kosho- The yuzu kosho elevated the pretty good quality salmonHamachi- Better quality than most pieces we hadUni Toro- This was served as a hand roll instead of sashimi. Good quality uni and nice fatty tunaSea Scallop Truffle- Good quality scallop but the truffle salt was a bit overpowering (I presume there was truffle oil in there)Red Shrimp Uni- Best piece of the night. Good quality shrimp with the good quality uni againWagyu- A bit chewy (which got even worse with the AYCE version)Unagi- Could have been seared moreFutomaki with mixed fish- Good quality (especially the ikura on top)For AYCE, I mostly stuck with the fatty tuna with a couple pieces of the lean tuna and wagyu. By comparison to the main set, the wagyu and akami were both cut a lot thinner which led to the beef being even chewier while the toro was good quality but there was notably a lot more rice. At least the akami was less chewy. There was also a tiny miso soup at one point in a cup which was fine as well as some mochi ice cream at the end which was nice. This spot was alright but a bit more per person, Hayashi is just better in virtually every category. The people there were friendly and not robotic and the fish quality was better. 3.3.

Check out this AYCE omakase and beer/sake spot in the West Village. This is a second location of Souraji (in East Village). I like this location better in terms of ambience and interior design. It's a quiet and intimate space to enjoy sushi and drinks with friends/family. As soon as you walk in, you are greeted by staff and they start pouring you your drink of choice. How does it work? You start off as regular omakase style (10 nigiri + 1 roll + 1 hand roll + 1 miso soup). Then, you go through 3 rounds of AYCE for fatty tuna, lean tuna & wagyu. You must decide how many pieces you want for each once and cannot order again. There will be a surcharge of any left over pieces. You will have multiple options for beers and sake throughout the night. Finally, you end off with mochi for dessert.

This place is definitely quantity over quality, but the quality was really disappointing ): We unfortunately got the window seat, with no bag hooks, and which meant the pieces came in clusters, and not one by one like the classic omakase style. None of the fish tasted fresh and a lot of them had uneven seasoning; for example, one piece was too much like yuzu to the point we didn't taste the fish. The chopped fatty tuna with uni was really disappointing because it was just TOO much rice and we didn't even taste the tuna or uni... ALL the pieces were mostly rice, which I get since they would be trying to fill you up.. But just too much. The fatty tuna/ikura roll was also just... not what I expected and the ingredients did not mesh well together. The unlimited sake and ginger were needed to cleanse my palate and sometimes help myself finish the pieces. After the omakase part, they ask you PER type how many you would like. First round is lean bluefin tuna (tuna is VERY thin), second is TORCHED fatty bluefin (thought this was the worst as it wasn't fresh and was pretty fishy), and lastly the A5 wagyu (once again, too much rice and just SO salty. Meat was very thin and had a lot of fatty parts). It's definitely rushed here and you need to eat as fast as you can once the pieces came because they do give you a time warning since the next set of customers are waiting. The half slice of mochi ice cream comes with your A5 wagyu set, which really hints that they are wrapping things up and getting ready for you to leave. I liked the concept and it looked really good on social media, but I felt like overall the pieces were not fresh, weren't seasoned welled, and had way too much rice for me to enjoy the taste of their individual toppings. Just come here if you want to have a fun competition with friends how many pieces you can eat and you enjoy unlimited sake, but I don't think this is a place I would recommend coming multiple times.
