Returned for the excellent chicken curry. Enjoyed stewed fish, first time trying it. Also liked saltfish and an unspecified mixed vegetable dish.

Very much hit or miss and a lot of the times it is a complete miss. I haven't heard any good things recently about soldiers from people on the street, but i wanted to prove them wrong so I came to see how the food is for myself. I used to love coming here with my dad, however after buying my small plate I was so disappointed. They charge SO much for mid food. I got one bake, a corner of Mac and cheese and some saltfish for breakfast and it was so bland and nasty I was so SADDDDD!!! I spent $11 on three little piece of things. I don't know what people are comparing the food to, but as a Jamaican I don't rate this restaurant. AT ALL. Used to be so good when I came as a child but of course times have sadly changed. I love the idea of the buffet, the sit down area and chill ambiance of the restaurant, but they can't keep putting under seasoned COLD food out, and charge this much and think it's okay. It's not a bad spot for Americans...but there is room to hire more help to improve the quality of the restaurant

Soldiers has changed. The food is totally hit or miss which is sad. I came here for breakfast which was very good. The bakes, fritters, fried dumpling, saltfish, mackerel, saltfish and okra, Ackee and saltfish etc are all tasty and well made. Switch over to lunch/dinner, the food is not as tasty as breakfast. The rice and peas was dry and chow mein looked burnt and just not appetizing. The curry chicken was dry. We came around 5 when the food should look presentable and be plentiful but sadly that is not the case. I come in for the breakfast portion but will definitely skip the lunch/ dinner portion.

I've eaten here a few times. The prices are cheaper than other places.. I understand why.. The food is just ok. The fried fish was tough and tasted old so it probably wasn't the freshest. The porridge was too watery and sweet. The chicken roti was ok but it was all meat and no potatoes. There's way too many good restaurants in the area to eat here. This is a cash only establishment.

If you're like me and love dumplings, try to make it here exactly when they open. It goes quick! There should be a refill for them in the late afternoon but sadly, the pan is always scraped clean. The pineapple fried chicken is delicious. Watch out for tiny bones in the salt fish, still the best and not too crazy salty. The fried dumplings are perfection. A little pricey on the oxtails, especially when there isn't that much meat on the bones. Some days they take card, some days it's cash only so bring cash with you just in case. I've never had a bad experience here, FYI: NO TALKING OVER THE FOOD!

Stumbling upon this Jamaican spot was such great luck! Wow, I've never seen a buffet spread quite like it. Every Caribbean dish you could imagine. Grab a container and pile up the food. It was hard to decide what to try since everything looked so good. My container cost $13 and lasted 2.5 meals, so it was really worth the cost. Highly recommend! They only take cash, by the way.My only negative comment is that the food isn't labeled so I had no idea what I was choosing. It all tasted great, though, so didn't matter in the end. But still would be nice to know what I'm eating.

Jamaican buffet w/ all the breakfast goodies, plus some cornbread, soul food, & anything else. They are packed at lunch - it's a mob scene, & for good reason - the food rocks - !

Here is a hidden gem. As you step inside, the savory aroma of jerk chicken, curry goat, and fried plantains fills the air, transporting you to the islands. They offer a great buffet style meal in a cozy, colorful setting. And the staff there are very friendly. There aren't fancy tables and chairs, but that's part of the charm. I live in Queens, and travel there all the time for a great dinner. I highly recommend.
