My boyfriend and I passed by this place so many times since it is right down the street. We decided we had to try it out since every time we passed by it was packed. We finally got a reservation and decided to try it out.The portions were all very big and tasted very good. We definitely understood why the wait is so long and why this place is packed. We ordered a fish which came out undercooked. We brought this to the staff's attention and they immediately took it back to make us a new one. During the wait, they served us (what I think is) Frena. It was absolutely delicious and understand why each table has an order. We also got dessert on the house which was also very good. The service was on par and was beyond outstanding for a place so busy. My boyfriend tried coming back on a weekday and the wait time was 2 hours. So try to get a reservation so you don't have to wait.

My friend and I went to Shukette on a Sunday night without reservations so it was quite busy but we still managed to get bar seats after roughly a half an hour wait (and trust me, this place is definitely worth the wait). To start, the service is impeccable. Our bartender Franklin was awesome- very attentive without being overbearing whatsoever. As for the food, everything we ordered was delicious but some dishes stood out more than others. In no particular order, here is what we ordered-Frena- yes it is just bread in essence but man is it good, definitely get it with some dips as well but eating it plain is suffice as well.Labneh- very tasty and unique, I've never had labneh like this before. Eat this with the frena = pure heaven.Fish in a Cage- one of the main standout dishes and rightfully so. The porgy was cooked really well and it was quite flavorful. I wish there was a bit more fish but of course porgy is very bony so it is what it is haha.Tahini Oat Milk Ice Cream- this is the only dessert that Shukette carried and honestly it wasn't my cup of tea. However, let's circle back to our awesome bartender Franklin who saw our reactions to the dessert and took it off the receipt. To take the initiative to do this without asking us our thoughts (albeit a barely touched ice cream is quite indicative) is great customer service. All in all, I would definitely return with or without reservations and 100% with an appetite.

Middle eastern inspired food. Their bread - frena - was too oily but soft and fluffy. Hummus and labneh were good. The fish was delicious. The sauces served with the fish were not suitable for a delicate fish flavor or texture.Generally, they play with flavors: sometimes successfully, sometimes not so. For example, tahini soft serve with sour sauce was interesting but difficult to finish. The dinning area is comfortable with a simple and tasteful arrangement. It is busy with a good atmosphere. Don't mind to come again to try other dishes. Our bill was $122 with tax and tips.

What an amaaaazing restaurant. I swear we must have said "wow" like 20 times throughout our meal, and I'm so glad we were seated in the counter where the Chef could hear because they deserve all the props here! We snatched a last minute dinner reservation on a Friday and I'm so happy we did. I truly have no complaints about anything we ate and believe me when I say everything - and I mean everything - was finger licking good. They were not lying when they said they have some of the best Hummus in NYC, and dont get me started on the Frena bread which we quickly had to get seconds of. The Grilled Broccolini was delicious. The Shrimp Kebab was delicious. And guess what? The Steak Kebab too! They had this Persimmon salad with Feta that was to diee for, they shared it was coming off the menu soon because they're no longer in season and I will make sure I come back next fall just to try it again. Unfortunately we had no space for dessert, but we did try the fruit Gazoz and it was great. This review just reminded me I have to plan my second visit so I'll be on my way there again. 10/10 no notes!

Been waiting so long to try this place, but it ended up being disappointing. I didn't think this spot was worth the hype. * Lafa: Weirdly cinnamony, not for me. * Frena: Liked how soft it was, but it's just basic dipping bread. * Butternut Squash Dip: So bland... it was basically just puréed squash. * Labneh: It was good, but nothing noteworthy. * Persimmon Salad: Meh. The persimmons were hard, and the onions were way too pungent. * Roasted Cauliflower: Had nice textures, but the taste wasn't memorable. * Delicata Squash: FAV DISH BY FAR. Everything about it worked--soft squash, tart labneh, tangy sauce, and sweet pomegranate. * Joojeh Chicken: The white meat was dry and just mid. * The Swirl: WHY would they put apple and tahini together?! It was so weird.

The roasted caraflex cabbage- heaven in a plate! The way it was cooked, roasted and served- total foodgasm!Went there on a Monday evening at 5pm- very busy. Ordered the frena and hummus- the garlic on top of the frena was like butter and the bread was baked to perfection- soft and fluffy! Hummus was definitely not your regular one. Mains- roasted cauliflower- nothing great except the roasted cherries, shrimp kebab- excellent and the cabbage - out of the world!! If you're lucky enough to get a reservation, definitely try the cabbage.

We came here for the partner's birthday and Shukette offers excellent service and a memorable dining experience. The food is outstanding, with the hummus being a standout--smooth, rich, and incredibly flavorful. We also tried the seasonal Permission Salad, which was fresh, vibrant, and perfect for sharing. For our main, we shared the fish, which was expertly cooked. Bonus that there wasn't bones we had to pick out.The atmosphere was a lot of fun, with throwback R&B jams. It definitely added to the overall experience and made the meal feel even more enjoyable. The only drawback was the tight space. Seated at the counter, it was a little cramped, especially with jackets on. We weren't offered a coat check, which would have been a nice touch. While the cozy vibe works for some, I'd likely opt for a table next time to avoid feeling squeezed. Overall, Shukette is definitely worth a visit, and I'll be back for the food and atmosphere.

Easily one of my favorite meals in NYC! I was able to walk in as a party of 3 on a rainy Friday night. Everything we ordered was memorable!! You have to order the labneh and some breads though. It is hands down the best labneh I've had. I still think about it. Shukette has perfected vegetables. Each dish was cooked to perfection and paired perfectly with some type of sauce. The broccolini & delicata squash were two stand outs! The steak kebab was so juicy and paired perfectly with the lentils. On top of standout food, the service was very fun and helpful! I hope everyone is able to enjoy the food shukette offers.

Went here the other night with a friend. We both LOVE Shuka so wanted to see why shukette was about. First off the restaurant is really cute but on a busy night it's quite crowded. The service was great though. We started off with the Arctic char dip and the Moroccan bread. Amazing. The one at shuka is slightly better in my opinion as it is whipped but this was still great. And the bread is as well. We then got the philo beef thing...it defiently wasn't what we were expecting, however, it was pretty good. We also got the brussel sprout salad which I loved. Everything was great and the vibe of the restaurant was also great. I would still pick shuka over shukette but wouldn't discourage you if its your preference.

Shukette was one of the best dinner experiences I've ever had in NYC! The food, ambiance, and service were all INCREDIBLE. Not only does Shukette have ample indoor and outdoor seating, but it's beautifully lit with string lights and exclusively plays early 2000s hits. Moreover, the menu itself is perf... I love a small-plate-based menu, and Shukette delivers. Me and my friend ordered: Frena Bread: 5/5- I'm a firm believer that any restaurant worth its while should have great bread and wow... Shukette certainly does. The frena was perfectly fluffy, soft, and warm- my only regret was that we didn't try the rest of the breads! Not Your Average Hummus: 3.5/5It's not bad hummus by any means, but it's nothing special. If I could go back, I would've ordered a more unique dip that can't be found elsewhere!Labneh: 5/5- The best dip we had all night. Shawarma Spiced Fries: 4/5- Great, well-seasoned fries that paired well with the dips!Persimmon Salad: 4.5/5- This was recommended by our waiter and turned out to be one of the best salads I've ever had... so fresh and flavorful! Delicata Squash: 5/5- This and the labneh were the BEST part of the meal. The labneh paired perfectly with the squash and the pomegranate seeds really made the dish sing. Dreaming about this forever. Joojeh Chicken: 4/5- The chicken was great but the saffron yogurt is what REALLY made this stand out. However, this dish took a really long time to come out, so be wary. Tahini Soft Serve: 3/5- The soft serve itself was pretty good, but I wasn't the biggest fan of the savory drizzle. Overall, I had the best time at Shukette and cannot WAIT to come back and explore the rest of the menu the next time I'm in the city!
