My boyfriend booked Shinpi Omakase for our anniversary dinner, and it truly exceeded our expectations. This intimate, almost hidden gem is a very private restaurant with only 10 seats, offering an exclusive dining experience. Having been to many omakase spots, this one easily ranks among my favorites.Every fish and dish was prepared fresh, which is essential for me as I'm quite particular about the quality of the seafood. I could tell that every ingredient was exceptionally handled with care. The service and ambiance were immaculate, and the menu was a mix of unique and classic omakase dishes which I really enjoyed. At the end, the chef even prepared a complimentary heart uni box for Valentine's Day, which was incredibly sweet! If you're looking for an unforgettable and intimate dining experience in New York, I highly recommend Shinpi Omakase.

This was a great omakase experience. Very limited seating so you'll need to book the reservation well in advance. The quality of the fishes are great and who I believe is the head chef, Eric, is very interactive with his guests. He takes feedback seriously, which is what you want to see in an establishment.A 15 course is $150, which is what we opted for. There's also a premium 18 course which goes for $170. Each piece was fresh and sliced fairly thick right in front of you. The added garnishing or droplets of sauce really enhances the overall experience. There is one instance where the chefs will ask you to hold your hand up in a fist and they will put a piece of otoro nigiri right on top of your fist. They will then spray some liquid gold for the effect before asking you to consume it off of your fist. Very IG worthy alright. At one instance the lights turned off and Eric played dumb and asked "who turned off the lights?" in order to light some sparklers to celebrate a guests birthday. Eric even took shots of sake with everyone at the end of the experience. Everyone was for sure more loose and friendlier towards the end compared to being quiet and tight in the beginning.

Great omakase experience! The restaurant has very limited seating, so make sure to make a reservation. The atmosphere inside is very relaxing and peaceful.I tried the 15 course omakase, and I was blown away by the freshness and diversity of the options. They did a great job utilizing uni in several of the courses such as the oyster appetizer. The king salmon was definitely my favorite piece. Very fresh and tasty.Overall, I had a great time at Shinpi Omakase. The service was great and the experience was intimate. I can't wait to come back in the future!

Shinpi Omakase does not disappoint, from the service to the food. Their menu changes seasonally and they have a daily special based on the type of fish they can get so you know it's fresh. Yes, the price is kind of high but it is worth it. You are paying for the experience because Chef Eric is so sweet and you can tell he puts so much effort into his craft. I've been here twice now and I can say I loved every piece. What sets Shinpi apart is some of their ingredients that I don't normally see at other omakase places. For example, this time I had a unique king crab. Their uni is also the best I've ever had, super creamy and sweet. If you are looking to splurge and treat yourself or a special someone, Shinpi is the place to do so! If you follow them on instagram, they sometimes have deals such as buy one get one half off.

Shinpi is one of my favorite omakase experiences I've had in New York! The atmosphere is very calming, it reminded me of a spa with essential oils and tranquil music playing in the background. The place is very intimate seating around 10 people at the bar.We had chef Eric and Devon prepare our 18 piece omakase meal. They were extremely tentative and continuously asked if the rice, fish, soy sauce, and wasabi ratio was to our liking and to let them know if it ever wasn't. They even provided us with some complimentary sake.Every dish was prepared so beautifully so I couldn't help but take pictures of EVERYTHING. My favorite having been the "French toast" and uni. I typically don't love uni, but this uni was so so buttery and flavorful it changed my perspective on uni. Additionally, I felt this omakase experience provided us with many dishes that contained uni (~4-5?) which I feel it more generous than other omakase places. So if you're an uni lover, this is a great spot for you.The team that night was Eric, Devon, and Jojo and they provided a warming welcoming environment. Rated top 2 omakase spots in NY in my book!

There's SO MUCH UNI at this omakase. I loved everything I got and the entire experience was wonderful. I will definitely be back. I also highly suggest getting the ebi and uni handroll. It's expensive but it was a big roll and delicious

Shinpi Omakase is a culinary journey that exceeded every expectation! Chef Eric and his team made the entire experience both memorable and fun!The 18-course dinner was full of flavors and textures, starting with a delightful four-course appetizer that included delicate cold noodles and the most flavorful Chawan Mushi I've ever had. The Kumamoto oysters and Hawaii Amber Jack sashimi were fresh, vibrant, and expertly prepared. The sushi nigiri courses were outstanding. The O'Toro with caviar was a showstopper, especially when Chef Eric finished it with a light spray of gold flake powder--a touch of elegance that made the experience fun and special! The King Salmon, Hokkaido Uni, and A5 Wagyu were also highlights. What made the evening even more fun was the creative ways Chef Eric presented the nigiri, and the sake pairing was definitely worth it!If you're looking for an omakase experience that combines great service, excellent presentation, and unforgettable flavors, Shinpi Omakase is the place to go.

Literally the best omakase we have ever had, in the U.S. and Japan! We got the 18 piece version and were blown away by the highest quality ingredients, often innovatively combined, with superb and friendly service and chef in an intimate atmosphere.Standouts included: 1) a superbly fresh Kumamoto oyster with Hokkaido Uni and ikura; tasted like the ocean, a perfect flavor mix; 2) toro with caviar sprayed with gold powder from a perfume-type bottle; 3) a unique summer special of mango, cold scallop, cucumber and Thai spicy foam; 4) an add on A5 Wagyu and uni hand roll; 5) fresh Hokkaido crab with lemon finger zest; 6) Uni nigiri with shaved truffle. The setting is an intimate sushi bar, no more than 10 people in the restaurant with two extremely solicitous servers, and the manager as well as chef ensuring plenty of personalized attention. Relaxing music and a full moon projection on the wall. We felt totally welcomed and at home with the engaging staff, who even offered complimentary sake. And there was a 5 percent discount for the summer season. Quite full at the end and deeply satisfied by food quality, innovation, touches of luxury at every step, perfect service. Will definitely be back!

We had the pleasure of experiencing the 15 course for $139 at Shinpi Omakase , Each piece was a testament to the meticulous craftsmanship and exceptional quality of the fish. From the melt-in-your-mouth otoro to the perfectly seared aburi, every bite was a culinary masterpiece. The highlight of our evening was undoubtedly the otoro, elegantly finished with a spray of gold glitter. It was not only visually stunning but also an explosion of rich, buttery flavor.Thank you for an incredible dining experience.Follow @spinx17 for more NYC food recs!
