Food: 10/10 fish quality was superb! There were a few dishes with a little flash with some caviar and truffles! I liked how it wasn't overwhelming with the pizzazz, they focused on the quality of the fish itself and didn't bother making it more complicated than it needed to be.Service: 10/10 waiter very quick and was even able to make to go boxes for people who ordered Togo during our omakase experience. I didn't mind it, it gave us time to breathe for a little.Ambiance: 10/10 very spacious. For a Sunday night not all the seats were filled. There is a waiting area on the other bar, so if you walk in confused I think you can just sit there, or at least that's what people were doing! Would love to come back next time I'm in New York!

I was very excited to try Omakase in NYC. There are so many Omakase options, so I had high expectations when booking my reservation for Shinn West. When you first walk in, you can immediately see that there are two large bar seating areas, each bar can seat around 15 customers. This initial impression disillusioned me, as it watered down the exclusive connotation that Omakase is supposed to be. The experience included around 12 or so courses, each one very typical cuts of fish. Nothing at Shinn West felt original, and at most a few of the dishes were marginally creative. Every time the chef served the next dish, it felt extremely manufactured and impersonal, as he would just mutter the dish's name and move onto the next person extremely quickly. The overall experience felt more like an assembly line than a dining experience. I fear that Shinn West is more concerned with bringing in as many customers as possible as opposed to focusing on what brings people to Omakase. Quantity over quality!!

I want to preface this by saying that I am a big fan of Shinn and its East location. I ordered takeout at Shinn West and kind of had a less than ideal situation. I ordered a Literally Everything Don on Doordash for pick up. When I got to the restaurant, which by the way, is pretty easy to miss since there isn't any signage, the doors are locked during open hours. I couldn't get in to pick up my order. I texted their phone, I gave them a call - no replies for 15 minutes. It took me banging on the door for them to open up. It was kind of bizarre - I mean I did get my food and it was prepared, but I didn't really understand why their doors were locked during business hours. The don was delicious and had a variety of cuts, but I think I'm put off on ordering takeout from either location again.

Would not come here ever again (severe stomach upset after eating here)- Went here on 12/8- Came on an empty stomach- Both my partner and I were healthy. She was on her period but otherwise no issues.- We had their standard omakase course- Experience was sub-par - the fish pieces especially the salmon was not cut right (too thick) and the uni was super watery.- Bathroom was disgusting - light switch also did not work- They had one course called O Toro Caviar - my partner seemed to like it a lot after eating it so I gave my piece to her- After coming home, my partner had severe stomach upset after an hour. All she had after the Omakse was a glass of red wine. She ended up spending the next seven hours the bathroom vomiting out everything she ate- We go out to Omakse pretty often and this has never happened beforeI feel that Shinn West has a food safety problem and need a food inspection asap. I would definitely never go there again.

Amazing quality for the price of omakase. If I lived in New York I'd come back every week! Added a Wagyu hand roll at the end to top it off. Beer selection was great too.

A much bigger space than the one in East Village, but with smaller pieces. To be fair, I haven't been to the Shinn East location in 1-2 years so maybe their pieces have gotten smaller too with inflation. They don't seem to be very busy as we were able to make a last minute reservation for a group of six within 48 hours. The service was ok at best. I don't think they said anything to us except at the beginning if we wanted drinks and at the end if we wanted to add on pieces. The only time they said a few more words to us was to let us know that we had to leave for the next group to come. Overall, the pieces were pretty good for 69 dollars. But there are so many of these options now in the City.

Delicious. Clean. Super tasty. Such a chill yet upscale omakase spot. All the sushi's were fresh and extremely tasty considering how different they all were. I didn't know what I was eating half the time but regardless was so good. Service was fast and professional. Price was 75$ which was I thought was very reasonable considering the high quality. I wish I took more photos Would highly recommend!

10/10 Omakase experience. Shinn West has easily climbed to the top of my favorite eats in NYC or just in general. $69/person for omakase like this was just incredible! The chef was so generous and careful when preparing each piece. I love the set up so that all of those dining are surrounding the chef so you can see the whole process. The quality of the sushi was to die for and having such intricate rolls that include caviar, gold flakes, foie gras, etc for that $69 price tag doesnt compare to any past experience I've had.On top of that, the staff was super nice and accomodating. Was able to strike a convo with one of them and he was super dope and welcoming. Recommending all my friends to go here!!

This place has 5 stars for a reason!! Amazing and friendly service, delicious food, beautiful preparation & presentation, and clean, beautiful restaurant. Our server Yuki was so immaculate and knowledgeable of the menu, what was being served, and what could pair well with menu items. She was also very personable and moved us along with our courses well as it was our first time.Overall, would love to come here again for a date night with my husband! I can see why this place is rated so highly!
